What about Matthew 25? If Matthew 24 is about the 70 AD siege upon Jerusalem, Matthew 25 must also be about that. And that stumped me for some time, since I wondered, especially about the sheep on the right and the goats on the left, how that could be 70 AD.
But I believe the Lord miraculously gave me the answer! It was awesome. Let me share it.
Matthew 25 is the same discussion continued from chapter 24. Check it out. Jesus begins by saying when the Son of man comes and cuts down those who disobeyed Him (Matthew 24:50), THEN shall the kingdom be likened.....
Amongst that 25th chapter discourse, we see the Son of Man seated and the blessed sheep are put on His right and the cursed goats on His left. THIS IS NOT AFTER THE RAPTURE. JESUS REFERRED TO THE COMMONLY KNOWN REFERENCE IN THE OLD TESTAMENT TO THE blessings and cursings.
I believe that the Lord quickened my mind to refer to the day when Moses commanded Israel, on their readiness to enter Canaan, to set the ARK OF THE COVENANT BETWEEN TWO MOUNTAINS. (Think of Christ when you think of the Ark). Mount Ebal on one side and Mount Gerizim on the other.
Deuteronomy 27:12-13 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin: And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse ; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.Joshua did this at SHECHEM.
Joshua 8:33 And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.A perfect picture of the sheep and goats in Matthew 24.
And amongst the words spoken to Israel by Moses about entering the land, and being cursed or blessed, according to their obedience to the word of God, God said that IF THEY DISOBEY, then the following curses would befall them.
Deuteronomy 28:49-53 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; (CHECK OUT MATTHEW 24:24) A nation of fierce countenance , which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young: And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee  either corn, wine, or oil,  or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee. And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distressDoes that sound familiar, students of Daniel?
Daniel 7 speaks of FOUR BEASTS. Four and no more. We understand them to be BABYLON, MEDO-PERSIA, GREECE and ROME. The fourth beast was ROME. ROME besieged Jerusalem.
And this was said of the days of the fourth beast.
Daniel 8:22-23 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power. And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.God told Moses that indeed Israel would one day DISOBEY and would bring upon themselves those curses.
It is HISTORICAL FACT that when Rome besieged Jerusalem, the city was surrounded to such a degree that food could not be obtained. And with a siege that lasted 3.5 years, just as Revelation 11:2 said it would, the people starved, and WOMEN ATE THEIR OWN YOUNG! That distinct fact was made known in history.
The very warning of God to Israel, when they were ready to enter the promised land, was that once they enter, they will be cursed or blessed according to whether they disobeyed or obeyed the word of God.
And this totally amazed me as all of this began to fit with Matthew 25.
God tells Moses that He sees the future and Israel WILL forsake Him.
Deuteronomy 31:14-18 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation. And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle. And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that theyare turned unto other gods. And then God told Moses, to prove He foresaw this, to write a song to be sung when it happens.
Deuteronomy 31:19-21 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant. And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.Notice that AFTER Revelation speaks about the destruction of Jerusalem, by showing where the SAINTS OF GOD STOOD on the mount Zion, while in the same chapter the UNBELIEVERS (BABYLON) fell....
STANDING
Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.FALLEN
Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication....like the wise man's house that FELL NOT, BUT STOOD, while the fool's house FELL....
...we read of the SONG OF MOSES.
Revelation 15:2-3 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.God told Moses to have that song sung when Israel would forsake His covenant and experience the curses promised to those who disobey Him. And like Jesus' blessed sheep on the right and the cursed goats on the left, the GOATS DISOBEYED THE WORD. A nation of fierce countenance will have fallen upon Jerusalem and besieged her into destruction.
And Israel never recovered until 1948! What a devastation!
What was Israel's greatest sin and disobedience to the word? Their rejection of Jesus and all He had to say and their crucifixion of Him. Jesus said that that would bring upon them the very curse that Moses spoke about in Deuteronomy. And amongst Jesus' words they rejected and disobeyed, were these....
Matthew 20:25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.Jesus said to the sheep....
Matthew 25:41-45 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.And God told Moses that what would happen to Israel would be a sign to all ages. That is the reason that so much of New testament prophecy deals with 70 AD.
Deuteonomy 28:45-47 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever. Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; The greatest work of God is the cross. And the greatest sin would be crucifying Jesus Christ. Jerusalem did just that, and they are therefore the brunt of so much doom and cursings in the New Testament. God still works like He did against Jerusalem, with everyone who disobeys Him today. Only it is more spiritual now.
That is all contained in a sermon I preached at:

JERUSALEM MISSED THE BLESSING
I was amazed that even Matthew 25 fits with the 70 AD siege upon Jerusalem, and the Kingdom Eschatology viewpoint.
The thing I noticed about the
Kingdom Eschatology viewpoint is that it is supported by so many scriptures
such as theones shown above. When I saw this, and never saw anywhere near
the support of scripture for the other viewpoints, I became more and more
convinced of Kingdom Eschatology.
