Exodus- "The Way Out"

Pastor Roy E. Richmond

PART NINE

The Bible says that the children of Israel were corporately His son.

Moses is a type of what God is doing to the church. He wakes up one day, and in Exodus there exists a people who began as only 12 sons of Jacob. They grew into a nation in Egypt. Egypt is a type of the world.

Jesus also left 12 apostles and they became 70, and finally we have a Holy nation. Christians are everywhere in this world. But just as the children of Israel were in bondage to Egypt, the church is in bondage to the world.

You see, the Hebrews grew up in Egypt and they thought that the life they lived was just the way it was supposed to be! But inside of that people there was a groaning and a crying, and the Bible said that God called Moses. God heard the crying and the groaning and the sobbing of the nation of Israel.

Somebody in the church is beginning to pray. The church is seeing that this isn't where its at. Does anybody have any guts to stand up and say that this isn't what the church was destined to be? We're not where we should be!

Can you go to the church and tell them that the life they are living is not what is intended? It is not the life that Jesus brought to us! There is more than this. There is more than a little talking in tongues, and a prayer and proclaiming a deliverance, and "Go on your way now." There is a change!

God wants to supernaturally mature us to be like Jesus. We are not going to take over the world in our own strength. Don't you have a hunger for that? Are you satisfied with just being forgiven? Are you satisfied with just a future in Heaven somewhere so you won't have to mess with humanities problems? That's not Jesus!

There is a Jesus in me that is crying, "Let me out of here!" He is trapped in the grave of the church's body. Let that thing change and conform so that the people around you can see Jesus.

What does it take? Moses was brought out of a place of death. He was, as it were, taken out of the fleshly ways. Many in the church are in the "wilderness" experience so that they can be taken out the flesh. They are in "Horeb", so to speak, which literally means "barrenness." You will be in barrenness until you see a burning bush.

Many think that they are doing fine and are not barren at all. Well, until you give birth to Jesus, you will be barren. Giving birth to Jesus is the key! We, like Moses, know that we are called to be deliverers.

If you are in Horeb, that is where God can speak to you. The question is, are you listening to Him, or are you looking at the dry place you are in? Get your eyes off the dry place and look for a bush that is burning and not being consumed.

Jesus said, "I am the vine and you are the branch."

Look for somebody that is on fire with the Word of God and not being consumed by it. Moses saw that.

That's what's happening right now. All over the world there are people who are being set on fire with the Word of God. You need to be telling people who are in the barren place where to look.

Jeremiah 23 said, My Word is a fire.

Moses turned aside to see. He came to the end of himself. We cannot bring deliverance to the church world in natural strength. You can't fight it. A stronger prayer-life won't get it done, either. You have to see somebody see some people who are really burning with the fire of God. Its not loud speaking, or dancing and shouting, but with powerful speaking something that is being said that reaches past your intellect, and past your body. It gets down into your heart and turns your spirit aside to see. And there is where you will take off your shoes because that is Holy ground.

Your shoes speak of your walk. You need to stop doing it all in your way, and start doing it His way. God has placed His hands on a group fo people today. If you can hear the barrenness in the church world, then you are called to see a burning bush some day. I see it!

God would say to us today, "See all this churchianity out there? That's not what I'm looking for."

Many would rather hear Him say that is what He wants you to get in. It looks easier. No, He would say, "That is what I want you to help them come out of."

The joy that I have right now is due to the greatest time of my life that I have ever lived. To be able to share the Word with you, and sharing what I have been taught, is worth more than anything else.

1 Corinthians 10: MOREOVER, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Paul was talking about all of the children of Israel. There were three million Jews, and all of them were going through the desert. Paul said that some things were true of all of them. Number one: They were all saved in figure. They were all brought out of Egypt. They were all involved in the blood over the doorposts.

Number two: They were all baptized into Moses, which is a type of being baptized into Christ. They were all figuratively union with Jesus.

Number three: They were figuratively filled with the Spirit, which is represented by the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night that they passed through.

Number four: They had all drunk of the Rock which is Christ.

Number five: They had all been Word-people. They fed on the manna. In John 6 Jesus said, "That manna was Me. It's the Bread of life."

They've been saved, Spirit filled, Word-people from the word go! This was true of every single one of them. They had everything that most of the church-world today believes is the ultimate. They seemingly had it all! All of them had all five of those things.

But verse 5 says:

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Does that shock any of you?

Your objective in Christianity is not to be just to be saved and Spirit-filled and to be Word-people and in-Christ people. If you die in the wilderness, God is not well pleased with you!

I thought that getting all those things were the ultimate until I read that verse. My job as a pastor is to be used of God to help you get all of these things. But those are only things that are to help us on the journey. They are the road map to the place to which we are headed. They're not the destination, but only the way to get there. And you can't get there without the Word or the Spirit, or being saved. But those expeirences are not the place we're headed. That's the reason that people are setting in Church and are dissatisfied and fearful.

People say, "I'm a Word-person," but yet inside they are still unfulfilled. There is something missing. What is it? God wants us to go on to the fullness of Christ. Our Promised Land is Jesus.

Look at verse 6.

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
What is he saying here? He is saying God was not well pleased with them, and then he gives a list of things that happened to them on their journey from Egypt to the Promised land.

He is saying that these are examples because we are on our journey to a Promised Land, also. You are going the same route, but in spiritual terms.

Then he says in the next verse ,

11 all these things happened unto them for ensembles: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
The word "world" means "age." Those things that they experienced for those 40 years, everything that happened to them, are all a picture of what God is doing to a people upon whom the ends of an age are come.

Guess who that people is?

We are the people upon whom the end of this age has come. The church age is coming to a close, it is ending. That ending people will be a Promised Land people. Can you see why we are studying the book of Exodus? We must see what happened to those people. We want to know how they responded, and what did they do wrong. If they did something wrong and died, we are given the account so that we won't do the same thing and die like they did. I'm glad God gave this to us. It's too bad that we haven't looked at it enough in the past.

That is the reason the enemy has told people that they don't need to read or study the Old Testament. That is why many religions don't use the Old Testament at all. They have been deceived. God is telling us through the Old Testament stories that we must not die as they died. Don't make the same mistakes and build images as they did. "Don't put anything before Me like they did!"

Don't make excuses as to why you can't come to the Holy Place. Don't say, "Well, I have to take care of this or that first, Pastor, before I can be committed to what God is doing in the church."

Don't murmur against authority like they did. Don't make up your own rules like they did. That's why this information is in the Bible. God is going to have a people who will enter into whatever that Promised Land typified.

And you are all, more than likely, going to be living in a time when a people enter into something that was never before experienced.

I'm encouraging you that the best is yet to come. Why are we still caught up in the world when we know this and have revelation of this? Why do we still set on our excuses?

Hebrews chapter 4 says that some must enter in!

God said, "Let us make man in our own image," and afterwards Adam fell. If He doesn't have a people in His own image then the devil can say that you missed it. You see, God still has Plan A going on. I think God is just waiting for us to step in. Let's enter into that finished work.

At the end of the sixth day from Adam, God will have a man, both head and body, who is built up into His image to enter into His rest. The picture is not of what God was going to do, but of what God is doing, in Genesis 1,2,3. You and I have the opportunity to be built up into that.

Is everybody going to do that? I don't think so. Many churches still sprinkle babies. Some have never entered into the infilling of the Holy Spirit yet. It's just not that important to them. That type of thinking is not for me.

Many are still hanging back there and don't believe in the Five-fold ministry. They will say that it's passed away. And people just stop.

There will be some people who will read in the Scriptures that God wants a people in His own image, but they will stay in the wilderness.

Did you know that there was two and one half tribes that went over into Canaan and then went back to the other side of the Jordan again? Why would you do that? Well, we know that Canaan couldn't be a type of heaven, with people getting there and then saying, "I don't like this. I'm going back."

Canaan is a type of heavenliness. It's a type of the Spiritual dimension. Some say, "Oh, I'll be glad when I walk in the spirit so that all of these problems will be over."

Look out. They had battles over there in Canaan! When you are ascending, you are going through the enemy's domain and taking their territory.

The demon forces of hell have ruled and reigned in the regions of the heavenlies for many years, but that's going to stop! Why? Because we are going to displace them.

Who did the children of Israel fight in the Promised Land? With the help of God, they drove out the Cannanites and Perizites, who were types of demons. They ruled the Promised Land before Israel got there.

Jesus said, "I saw Satan falling from the heavens as lightning." What that means is the lightning of the Word of God comes into a saint's life and that person ascends. We're not supposed to pull forces down. God is pulling us up.

There are two ways to get satan under foot. You can pull him down, which is useless, or you can rise up and sit with Christ in the heavenlies, which will automatically put him beneath your feet.

The trick of the enemy is in getting you to fight them. It is to get all of your energy wasted in fighting devils. Instead of growing up, people are wrestling with something that is already defeated!

The devil knows that if you are still trying to put him under your feet, you don't know that he already is there. That is a deceptive spirit. It tries to convince you that you still have work to do as far as he is concerned. That is the anti-Christ wearing out the saints, as spoken in Daniel.

"Fight a little harder, pray a little louder."

How do we put Satan under foot? Rise up! I'm glad I'm in this day, aren't you? Don't be counted as one dying in the wilderness. That is not God's will. We have been brought into the Kingdom for such a time as this. God wants you to make a decision today to come up higher. Time to watch TV is not climbing higher. Time to set at home, is not climbing higher. God has gifted you and the church needs your gift.
