FEAR OF UNBELIEF AND PEACE OF FAITH

Mark 4:1-8  And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.  (2)  And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,  (3)  Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:  (4)  And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.  (5)  And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:  (6)  But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.  (7)  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.  (8)  And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

Four kinds of ground are what every heart falls under.
•    And the events that occurred after actually show us these kinds of hearts.
•    WAYSIDE: A heart that gets nothing from the word and satan takes it before people even are able to believe it.
•    STONY GROUND: they hear and immediately are glad but the first sign of trouble immediately offends them.
•    THORNS: cares of life more important than truths of eternal life.
•    GOOD:  self-explanatory.

He then says he didn’t come to put a light under a bushel or bed.
•    His Word is AMPLIFIED by a parable.

Then events take place which demonstrate what he taught.

Mark 4:35-41  And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.  (36)  And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.  (37)  And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.  (38)  And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?  (39)  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  (40)  And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?  (41)  And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Just like the shallow ground, as soon as trouble starts their faith is gone.
•    His word was PASS OVER THE OTHER SIDE.
•    Like Israel on way to promised land.
•    Jews feared the walls and the giants.
•    Didn’t think God could handle that!
•    So full of unbelief and fleshliness.
•    THEN THEY FEAR HIM after he calms the storm!
Word seeds that produce fruit make people full of faith!
•    Fruit when you need it!
•    How you react to troubles determine how the fruit is growing after you heard the word.

THEN he makes it to the other side.
Mark 5.
•    GADARA.
•    Place surrounded by walls.
•    Like promised land Israel was going to but feared.

Mark 5:2-10  And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,  (3)  Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:  (4)  Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.  (5)  And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.  (6)  But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,  (7)  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.  (8)  For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.  (9)  And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.  (10)  And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

2,000 swine.

Mark 5:13  And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

That meant at least 2,000 demons in one man.

After disciples who heard the word over and over feared when the first storm arose on the sea, due to SHALLOW HEARTS, the man with at least 2000 devils ran to Jesus and worshiped.
•    All they could do was speak out and ask Jesus what they had to do with Him?
•    They could not stop the man.
•    When one storm stopped all the disciples, 2000 demons could not stop the demoniac.

Mark 5:18-20  And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.  (19)  Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.  (20)  And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

•    He was such good soil, he wanted to go and work with Jesus.
But Jesus sent him to work right there at home!
•    And HE DID!

Meanwhile.

Mark 5:14-17  And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.  (15)  And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.  (16)  And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.  (17)  And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

These were THORNY GROUND!
•    Cares of life and riches choked the word.
•    They KNEW a miracle of GOD occurred.
•    But they rather would have money from swine, so they sent him away!

More shallow ground comes up:

Luke 8:40  And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

Recall:
Luke 8:13  They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

JESUS IS THE WORD.
Watch.

Luke 8:41-42  And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:  (42)  For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

Woman is healed of issue of blood next…

Luke 8:49-50  While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.  (50)  But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

Jesus said FEAR NOT because He saw Jairus’ heart and noticed it feared.
•    He was rescuing someone from a shallow heart!
•    They believe so far and then fear!
•    Don’t let them see any problem, or they become afraid!
•    Sometimes it is not positive thinking people need, if anything they SEE scares them and destroys their faith, so they don’t want to hear nor see anything wrong.
•    It’s just a SHALLOW HEART!
•    True faith doesn’t care what is said or seen!
•    This is sensational faith.
•    Have to always SEE miracles and wonders.
•    Cannot SEE things that scare shallow faith.
•    True faith is far more nature and solid than that!
•    You can face them with the FACTS, and they BELIEVE through any problems that are there!
The man was a rule of the synagogue, and openly fell at Jesus feet.
•    Started out well.
•    Received Jesus gladly, but as soon as affliction and trouble of the news of his daughter’s death came, he feared!
•    Jesus raised her up.

But between all of that, the woman with the issue of blood was FULL OF GOOD GROUND!
•    She believed.
•    Had faith!

Luke 8:43-48    And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,  (44)  Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood staunched.  (45)  And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?  (46)  And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.  (47)  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  (48)  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

LIKE THE DEMONIAC!
•    SHE had the disease.
•    Like the demoniac WHO HAD THE DEVILS.
•    Sometimes the worst case people have the most faith for victory!
•    The disciples in the boat and the Jairus looked ON a problem.
•    The daughters and the demoniac HAD the problem.

She had faith, but she should have let her light shine!

Luke 8:(46)  And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.  (47)  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

SHE TRIED TO HIDE what happened.
•    She tired to HIDE THE LIGHT.

Luke 8:(16)  No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.  (17)  For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
She came trembling since she was not hid.
So many people feared.
Jarius.
The people who saw the demoniac delivered.
Now, the healed woman !
Jarius servant said TROUBLE NOT THE MASTER
•    The woman felt she was imposing and troubling Jesus, so she kept hid.

Luke 8:48    And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

Mark 4:39-40  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  (40)  And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Luke 8:49-50  While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.  (50)  But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

FEAR destroys faith.
PEACE shows strong faith!
How much PEACE do you have when the storms come?
The storms rage and are the opposite of peace.
•    They affect you so you have no peace.
•    Have PEACE in the midst of a storm!

GO IN PEACE.

Beyond what man could do.
NO MAN COULD BIND THE DEMONIAC.
THE WOMAN SPENT TALL HER MONEY FOR MEDICINE, still sick.
The DAUGHTER DIED.
•    The servant equated Jesus with man, when they said the daughter died so Jarius needn’t bother Jesus any more.

Jesus goes beyond where man can go.
