At this point in our study, let us pause and summarize what we have seen in Romans so far.
The first mention of key points to keep in mind is made in chapter 1
verses 3 and 4.
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed
of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with
power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the
dead:
Romans 1:3-4
For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the
power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by
the power of God toward you.
II Corinthians 13:4
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power
of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:
as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17
For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God.
Romans 10:3
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Romans 5:17
But now the righteousness of God without the law is mani- fested,
being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of
God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:

as it is written, The just [or the righteous] shall live [shall be righteous]
by faith. Romans 1:17

his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house
of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which
have been since the world began: That we should be saved from our enemies,
and from the hand of all that hate us; To perform the mercy promised to
our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; The oath which he sware
to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered
out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness
and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
Luke 1:67-75
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that
have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of
God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
II Peter 1:1
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom,
and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
I Corinthians 1:30
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians 5:21
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ
were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:3
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Galatians 3:27
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like
as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality
and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without

Romans 3:24
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers
of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:13
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God,
neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became
fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made
like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping
things.
Romans 1:21-23
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the
creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this
cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change
the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the
men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward
another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they
did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Romans 1:25-28
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest:
for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that
judgest doest the same things.
Romans 2:1
For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned
without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in
the law shall be judged by the law;
Romans 2:11-12
But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed,
saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to
keep the law of Moses.
Acts 15:5
Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples,
which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Acts 15:10
The following verses explain why the Law came, and you wil notice that it came to teach man a hard lesson.
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them
who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world
may become guilty before God.
Romans 3:1>
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith:
but, the man that doeth them shall live in them.
Galatians 3:11-12
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions,
till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained
by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Galatians 3:19
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there
had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness
should have been by the law. But the scripture [the law] hath concluded
all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given
to them that believe.
Galatians 3:21-22
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that
we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no
longer under a schoolmaster.
Galatians 3:24-25
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom
God imputeth righteousness without works,
Romans 4:6
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being
witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which
is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for
there is no difference:
Romans 3:21-22
To which Paul replied...
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory;
but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God,
and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh
is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh
not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted
for righteousness.
Romans 4:25
How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision?
Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. And he received the sign of
circumcision [something that is a work], a seal of the righteousness
of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the
father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness
might be imputed unto them also: And the father of circumcision to them
who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of
that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
Romans 4:10-12
For the PROMISE, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to
Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness
of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void,
and the PROMISE made of none effect:
Romans 4:13-14
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but
by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that
we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the
law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 2:16
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his
mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the
Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:5
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians 5:21
Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present
evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
