Satisfaction Only Found in Being What God Created Us to Be

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
The pursuit of Happiness is a never ending marathon race if you do not know where to go to find it.
- A rock and roll song that is said to be the theme of the youth of our day is "Satisfaction".
- But when you listen to the words, hoping to find a source for satisfaction, the chorus said, "I can't get no Satisfaction".
But there is satisfaction. The Bible said there is. The first step to attaining this satisfaction is becoming aware of yourself.
- And I do not mean a psychological awareness that somehow magically makes us like ourselves.
This awareness of ourselves stems from the very beginning of mankind. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God made man in His own image . God's image is intended to be a vehicle for God's goodness to flow through and touch this world.
- All man needed was His God's life within Him.
- And that life was provided in the way of the fruit from the Tree of Life.
- Man was designed to contain God's life.
But man refused to take it and is lacking something today. WATER is what our natural lives basically depend upon.
- The human body is approx. 90% water.
- We can go without food longer than we can go without water.
With that in mind: John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Jesus told a woman at a well of water that she would thirst again and again should she drink of that water. - He used the thought of WATER being the source of human existence and was actually saying if you thrive off this NATURAL LIFE you will never be satisfied. But I can give you LIFE that will completely satisfy you, if you drink of it.
This goes back to Eden! - Adam was created to put fruit from The tree of Life within himself.
- He laid down and slept and God took a rib from his side and made a wife for him.
- But when something does not do what it was designed to do, it is never satisfied.
- A fish is designed to live in water, but if it is not in water, it dies.
- Everything the fish needs is in the water it was designed to live in.
- Everything we need is in the LIFE God designed us to contain.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? - We were meant to HOUSE God's LIFE.
- But the woman made for Adam took the wrong fruit and gave to Adam they ate it.
- Since Adam, mankind has been unsatisfied, because God blocked Adam from that life when Adam put something wrong in him.
God's intentions were never fulfilled. - And man is left unsatisfied.
- Get natural life of the world and it still is not enough.
- And those who seem to know a bit more about the answer, but not enough, look at spiritual things and worship all sorts of gods.
- They just miss the correct and real God.
Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: - The Bible describes mankind as being alienated from the LIFE of God.
- Natural life is not enough.
- What the world calls living is foolsgold.
Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. - Adam was God's Son.
- He failed so Jesus, God's Son came to patch things up.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. - And to set the record straight, He had LIFE in Him from the birth.
- And He set out to find a help meet like Adam had Eve.
- Only she had to receive the LIFE that He lived by.
Notice this: Genesis 2:19-23 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
(Though Adam failed, we see God's plan in Adam's existence)
- Why do we read all animals passed before Adam and then we read of Eve coming from his side?
- Within Adam was his own life.
- All the animals did not have that same kind of life.
- So none could fit Adam's need for a help.
- So out from inside Adam's own life, God made a help.
- And Adam said, "THIS is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh."
- THIS is what Adam needed.
- One who was made from the same LIFE he had within himself.
- What better way to have a mate that lives on the same LIFE as Adam than to make her from the elements IN HIM?
- Jesus Christ came to find that mate also.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
- After explaining that He had LIFE and if one would believe on Him one would receive that LIFE, we read where Jesus said He had to go through Samaria.
John 4:4 And he must needs go through Samaria. - And He went and sat by a WELL of WATER.
- He was at the place where people came to obtain life, albeit natural life, to maintain their existence.
- To find satisfaction.
- He knew a woman would come there that day.
- He knew she was so aching for satisfaction and love that she had five husbands through her life and presently lived with one whom she did not marry.
- (Perhaps she felt marriage was useless since she tried it five times, why bother this time? Nothing lasts anyhow).
- He came to give LIFE.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. - We read the narrative where Jesus discussed how she could receive water that would never leave her thirsty and unsatisfied.
- Should she drink of THIS water from the well, she would thirst again.
- But His water would never make her thirst again.
- IT WOULD SATISFY.
- He was telling her that natural life - trying to satisfy self with material gain, money or new loves after an old love fails, cannot satisfy.
- He can give ETERNAL LIFE.
- The woman was told she had five husbands and presently lived with one she did not marry.
- So sinful.
- Yet it was because she longed for love.
- Jesus knew she longed for real love.
- That is why He had to go to Samaria.
John 4:25-29 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? - SHE LEFT HER WATERPOT.
- She left her efforts to carry something that filled her up when she thirsted.
- This represents that fact that finding REAL LIFE makes it so that you had no more need of a coming again and again to load up again and again something that really does not satisfy anyway.
- (Why is there not a drug that leaves you forever happy? Why do addicts have to again and again get it?)
- Why have a waterpot when you have an unending source in yourself?
While she was gone He spoke to His disciples some interesting words in light of this event. John 4:35-38 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
- He said LOOK AROUND YOU.
- There are starving and thirsty souls everywhere ready to receive this life.
- As the world becomes more fast-paced and more demanding, people are TRULY more than ever seeking satisfaction.
- Look out there. How many thousands like this woman live within this city?
- We often hesitate as Christians to share this truth with people, but if you only knew how many people are willing to listen to find true peace, you would not be near so hesitant thinking they do not want what you have.
- They do not want fakery, that is for sure, and they are leery of that.
- But though the words of the woman made her appear she was tough and did not need anything, Jesus knew inside her longing.
- Don't let an initial "front" turn you off from realizing that person does need and truly wants what you have.
- That which is highly valuable is often counterfeited.
- True spiritual LIFE is looked upon as valuable, so it is counterfeited.
- And since it is more valuable now than ever, due to the stresses of this day, there is more counterfeit of true life with God than ever. People do not want a self-greedy cult to catch them. So they are careful.
- But when you can prove you have life as Jesus did, then you are real.
And then we read: John 4:39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Well, the story goes on. Recall that Adam needed one who lived by his own life to suit Him.
And since Adam could not find one, Adam's life was laid down and God took from within Adam that which was his life and made a mate. - Jesus laid down his life also.
John 19:33-34 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. From His side, from within Him and from His life, God took blood and water and made a mate for Him.
- Blood is LIFE of the flesh (Lev. 17:10-11).
- Water and blood is LIVING WATER.
- Jesus spoke to the woman about living water.
John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. - He would have given her what HE LIVED UPON.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. - BE BORN OF WATER AND SPIRIT
- SPIRIT means: The vital principal by which the body is animated.
- So it is like the LIFE.
- BLOOD and water is life SPIRIT and water.
- Living water represents God's Spirit.
- The life that was in the Edenic fruit of life was IN JESUS.
- He had the life in him.
- The CHURCH is His mate and she had to be made from the source of life He had.
Back in John 3:29 Jesus made a statement about believing in the Son of God to receive eternal life. And like an explanation of what he meant, we read where He had to go to Samaria and talk to a woman about receiving living water from Him. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Four verses later HE MUST NEEDS GO TO SAMARIA.
- Satisfaction is being what God created us to be.
- We were meant to contain God's LIFE.
- And without that life, we are not fulfilling our purpose.
- And we are not satisfied.
- Believe on Jesus and receive the eternal life - be born of the water and the Spirit.
