James 1:21 KJV Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity
of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is
able to save your soul.
The Word saves you.
Next verse:
James 1:22 KJV But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Not just know it BUT DO IT.
That is truly receiving the Word.
James 1:23 KJV For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a
doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
MIRROR.
• See mess and leave mess and do nothing.
• Did nothing about what saw.
• God sees us do nothing about what we learned.
• Deceive ourselves!
• We have to do something with what we see!
You looked in mirror before you came today!
• I can tell.
• YOU DID something about it.
James 1:24 KJV For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
If we find out something that is truth, and we ignore it, it did not help us do what it intended us to do.
Matthew 7:13-27 KJV Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is
the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many
there be which go in thereat:
MOST GO BROAD WAY.
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
How many is few? – Few, eight souls, saved by water in Noah’s day.
• If 8 is all that obeys then 8 is all saved.
• But the point is that God is no respecter of persons.
• God will not ignore what His Word says just to have a crowd He wants.
• He does not do that just to have a large number.
• WHOSOEVER will, let him come.
• WHOSOEVER’s name is not found in book is gone.
HERE IS WHY FEW ARE SAVED…
(15) Beware of false prophets, …
False prophets are reason FEW be saved.
• Many would otherwise be saved!
…which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
AS SHEEP.
• No one will knock on your door introduce
themselves as a false prophet to send them to hell, and to kindly be
invited in to damn your soul.
• False prophet talk about JESUS and getting saved!
How do we know them?
(16) Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Certain fruit tells you they are false.
• WHAT THEY PRODUCE… including what they TEACH.
…Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
(17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a
corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree
cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth
good fruit. (19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good
fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (20) Wherefore
by their fruits ye shall know them.
All that simply says is you cannot GET TRUTH FROM FALSE PROPHET.
• TREE determines fruit.
• A certain fruit is produced by false prophet.
• We need to know that fruit.
• Who wants to follow the wrong message and learn at end that you are lost?
• Jesus said MOST PEOPLE WILL DO THAT VERY THING!
• Jesus show us some examples of how this will happen.
• Jesus left details about this for the apostles.
• They get the details.
• They tell exactly who it is.
(21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven.
Not every one who calls on Him is going to be saved.
• THE WILL OF THE FATHER IS THE WORD OF GOD!
• False prophets get you to call on the Lord without DOING WILL OF GOD and not fulfilling HIS WORD.
Because of that…
(22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I
profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work
iniquity.
I DO NOT WANT TO BE DECEIVED!
• I could study Jesus and follow this all my life and WIND UP LOST!
• Cast out devils in JESUS’ NAME!
• Arguing with Jesus at judgment!
• “You are not saved but lost, I never knew you!”
• Why did it happen?
• They followed false prophets.
• That is why we teach this so you do not follow
anything false and then find out at end He never even knew you!
• KNOWING relationship with Jesus is REQUIRED, or we will not be ready to meet Him.
• We will talk about KNEW and KNOW many times.
(24) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth
them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a
rock:
HIS SAYINGS ARE HIS WORD.
(25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded
upon a rock. (26) And every one that heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which
built his house upon the sand: (27) And the rain descended,
and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and
it fell: and great was the fall of it.
HIS WORD is like a ROCK!
• Don’t let false ones convince you of something other than HIS WORD.
• All Everyone who calls themselves Christians claim they use the bible.
• We obviously must be more specific than just saying we believe the BIBLE.
• False prophets generally will not follow bible, but we need more detail than that.
• What in bible do they reject?
Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art
thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto
thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (18) And I say also unto thee,
That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the
gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (19) And I will
give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou
shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Peter, ON THE ROCK OF THE REVELATION GOD WOULD GIVE PETER.
• Keys are TRUTHS to get into KINGDOM.
• KINGDOM is not heaven itself.
• KINGDOM IS CHURCH.
• KINGDOM IS IN US.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
• Righteousness, peace and joy in Holy Ghost.
• Peter get KEYS for him to preach to get people into KINGDOM!
Whatever bind on earth will bind in heaven.
• Whatever you preach will be BOUND IN HEAVEN and will save souls!
• Jesus was confirming Peter’s preaching would be RIGHT ON TARGET!
• You can go to the BOOK OF ACTS to see Peter’s sermons, and that’s what GOD BINDS IN HEAVEN.
• But before we go to Acts, let’s get more confirmation.
1 Peter 1:22-25 KJV Seeing ye have purified your souls (this
tells us he’s speaking to people already saved) in obeying the
truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that
ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: (23) Being
born again (already born again), not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for
ever. (24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of
man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof
falleth away: (25) But the word of the Lord endureth for
ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
Writing to church.
• WORD is preached by GOSPEL.
• See what THAT PETER said…
1 Peter 2:6-8 KJV Wherefore also it is contained in the
scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious:
and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
BELIEVE ON HIM, the ROCK.
Jesus’ sayings are the rock.
His word.
He is the word.
(7) Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but
unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders
disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, (8)
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,
Who would stumble at Jesus and be offended at Him?
… even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
People say they believe in Jesus, and yet do not want Bible or parts of it.
• The BIBLE IS the TEACHINGS OF JESUS.
• When you’re offended at Word you are offended at Jesus.
• We be judged by HIS WORDS.
• Get our ideas straightened out by word.
• It is a contradiction to say they love Jesus but do not care for bible.
• They are unlearned about what BIBLE says.
• BIBLE IS OUR JUDGE.
CHAPTER AND VERSE numbers in the bible are for reference purposes only.
• Do not stop reading at end of chapter as though that is end of that point.
• Changing chapters is not changing thoughts.
• CHAPTER AND VERSE is for reference purposes only.
• This helps us find certain phrases quickly.
Ephesians 2:18-22 KJV For through him we both (JEW AND GENTILE)
have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (19) Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens
with the saints, and of the household of God; (20) And are
built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ
himself being the chief corner stone;
Now see that we built on APOSTLES AND PROPHETS.
• APOSTLES PREACHED the word about JESUS and what PROPHETS SAID ABOUT JESUS.
• It is getting clearer now!
• Now we know why Jesus said whatever Peter preaches is bound in heaven.
• This shows us how to tell a false prophet,
• A FALSE PROPHET WILL NOT BUILD ON WHAT APOSTLES PREACHED.
(21) In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto
an holy temple in the Lord: (CHURCH) (22) In whom ye also
are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
So now let’s go back to first one we read:
Now that we know all this, read further.
Praying for the 12 apostles.
John 17:17 KJV Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 17:18 KJV As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Jesus SENT APOSTLES into the world.
• HIS WORD is truth.
• KEEP THIS POINT IN MIND…
• I am going to raise this question later: WHO DO WE KNOW IS SENT OF GOD?
• Remember this question.
• A scripture is going to tell you who they are.
• Now, we know the BIBLE is the TRUTH.
• So whoever the BIBLE says are sent of God are true sent-of-God-people.
• TWELVE APOSTLES WERE ONLY ONES SENT OF GOD!
• THE ONES HE PRAYED FOR!
• Apostle means SENT ONE.

John 17:19 KJV And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
I am giving them the truth and sending them into the world with it.
John 17:20 KJV Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Jesus prayed for everyone to be saved by believing on the words of the apostles whom he sent into the world with the truth.
• BUILD ON WHAT THEY SAID and you build on foundation of JESUS!
• You stumble at that, then stumble at cornerstone and at Jesus!
• SEE HOW THAT COMES TOGETHER?
If you are willing to believe in Jesus according to gospel Jesus
preached, then you can know that JESUS PRAYED FOR YOUR SALVATION
ALREADY!
