Isaiah 6:1-3 KJV In the year that
king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and
lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (2) Above it
stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his
face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did
fly. (3) And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy,
holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Ezekiel 47:1 KJV Afterward he brought me again unto the door of
the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of
the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the
east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the
house, at the south side of the altar.
Ezekiel 47:12 KJV And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this
side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall
not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring
forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they
issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat,
and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Revelation 22:1-2 KJV And he shewed me a pure river of water of
life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the
Lamb. (2) In the midst of the street of it, and on either
side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner
of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the
tree were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22 pulls together both prophetic visions of Ezekiel 47 and
Isaiah 6 and makes one great picture for us.
- We have the THRONE of Isaiah 6 ready to pour forth glory to fill
the earth.
- And we have the river flowing from that throne and accomplishing
the picture of TREES OF LIFE on both sides of the river.
This morning we spoke about the glory Ezekiel saw in chapter 1 of his
prophecy.
- It left the temple in Ezekiel 10 and 11 and went to the mountain
east of Jerusalem which is the Mount of Olives.
- Just like Jesus was rejected by Israel and left the temple and
went to the mount of Olives.
- Historically we know that it was shortly after this that Jesus
Christ was crucified, resurrected and ascended to be seated at the
RIGHT HAND in heaven.
Acts 2:32-33 KJV This Jesus hath
God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. (33) Therefore
being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the
Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye
now see and hear.
Psalms 110:1 KJV A Psalm of
David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I
make thine enemies thy footstool.
And this O.T verse in Psalms is quoted in the New Testament more than
any other OT verse.
And it is no wonder, because the resurrection of Jesus that put Him on
the THRONE OF GLORY is the most important event that ever happened.
And we are finding out all kinds of KINGDOM TRUTHS related to this
greatest of all events.
John 12 and Matthew 21 explains how Jesus was rejected by Jerusalem as
her King, and this was shortly before He would be crucified and
resurrected to rise to the throne of glory.
Remember that Isaiah saw the glory in the temple of HEAVEN ready to
bust out of that temple through the doors and fill the earth.
Isaiah saw the GLORY in the TEMPLE from the inside, ready to pour out.
Ezekiel saw a river come from the temple and form into a huge with
trees of life on either side of its banks.
Ezekiel 47:1 KJV Afterward he
brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued
out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront
of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under
from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Ezekiel 47:12 KJV And by the
river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow
all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit
thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his
months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the
fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
And Revelation showed the same thing pout together.
- The throne from Isaiah 6 and the river from Ezekiel 47 all in one
VISION.
Realize that between the departure of Jesus to the mount of olives,
which coincides with Ezekiel's vision of the glory leaving the temple
to the east mountain by Jerusalem, JESUS DIED AND RESURRECTED AND WENT
TO THE RIGHT HAND THRONE.
So between the GLORY LEAVING AND GLORY RETURNING JESUS WENT TO THE
RIGHT HAND THRONE.
We're going to see when this RETURN OF GLORY actually occurred.
Is it yet to occur, or not?
- What does this return of GLORY with a RIVER and all kinds of
trees of life on either side of the river refer to?
Let us go back to where Peter said Jesus went to the right hand throne.
John 12 showed Jesus ready to go to the cross and then to the throne.
Acts 2:32-33 KJV This Jesus hath
God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. (33) Therefore
being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the
Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye
now see and hear.
SHED FORTH is literally ...
G1632
ἐκχέω,
ἐκχύνω
ekcheō ekchunō
ek-kheh'-o, ek-khoo'-no
From G1537 and χέω cheō (to pour); to pour forth;
figuratively to bestow: - gush (pour) out, run greedily (out), shed
(abroad, forth), spill.
TO POUR FORTH.
GUSH OUT.
SPILL.
THIS IS SPEAKING OF RIVER LANGUAGE.
What was Peter referring to by telling them what they saw and heard was
SHED FORTH?
Acts 1:5 KJV For John truly
baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not
many days hence.
Acts 1:8 KJV But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost
part of the earth.
Acts 2:2-4 KJV And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of
a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues
like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
No wonder we are seeing KINGDOM pictures from the Old Testament in
visions that foretold of this event!
- When Isaiah spoke of the glory ready to bust through the doors,
and Ezekiel saw the River flow out with trees of life on either side,
IT WAS THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT they were seeing in biblical
imagery!
- That is why POWER is associated with getting the baptism of the
Holy Ghost!
- IT IS COMING FROM THE THRONE!
- IT IS KINGDOM RIVER OF LIFE!
No wonder Jesus said the very same thing we read about IN Revelation
22:17 when it talks about this river of life flowing from the throne.
Revelation 22:17 KJV And the
Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And
let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the
water of life freely.
John 7:37-39 KJV In the last day, that great day of the feast,
Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me,
and drink. (38) He that believeth on me, as the scripture
hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
(39) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on
him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that
Jesus was not yet glorified.)
And watch this:
Revelation 21:1-5 KJV And I saw a
new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth
were passed away; and there was no more sea. (2) And I John
saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I
heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (4)
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be
no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any
more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And
he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he
said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new.
And the powerful thing about all of this is that JOHN added something
Isaiah and Ezekiel never saw.
- And it only stands to reason John would see it more perfectly
because the cross was a mystery in the Old Testament.
- They only knew a new covenant was coming, but did not see what it
would be.
But JOHN saw the THRONE and called it the throne of GOD AND THE LAMB!
The lamb was the sacrifice that we became ONE WITH.
ATONEMENT.
And if we read...
Ephesians 1:19-20 KJV And what is
the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according
to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought
in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own
right hand in the heavenly places,
Ephesians 2:5-6 KJV Even when we were dead in sins, hath
quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
(6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Then the picture of GOD AND THE LAMB is a picture of GOD and the
one with WHOM WE BECAME ONE!
- This is a perfect picture of ATONEMENT ENTHRONEMENT.
- That atonement Lamb is Jesus who died as a sacrificial lamb, and
was at one with us so we could die with Him.
- And His seating on that throne involves OUR SEATING!
How did God provide atonement?
- GOD BECAME MAN SO COULD DIE AS EACH HUMAN BEING.
- GOD cannot die, so had to become human and humans die.
- Only His human part died.
- God did not die, though.
- Because there was this HUMAN, we were able to become one with Him.
- In his death.
- His death in a humanity that we could relate to - and that could
die - was where we were drawn to Him in UNION.
- As this sacrifice he is called a LAMB.
John 1:29 KJV The next day John
seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which
taketh away the sin of the world.
This lamb goes to throne and sits with Father on throne, and is
representative of ALL WHO CAME TO BE AT ONE WITH HIM.
- He represents all men.
- So this representative LAMB with GOD on the throne is screaming
out the entire concept of ATONEMENT.
- It means all of us went to the throne!
The Holy Ghost in the earth is the WHOLE EARTH FILLED WITH HIS GLORY!
Recall Ezek saw river come from TEMPLE.
Revelation 21:22 KJV And I saw no
temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty
and the Lamb are the temple of it.
