Psalms 110:1-2 A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit
thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
(2) The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule
thou in the midst of thine enemies.
Hebrews 10:11-13 And every priest standeth daily ministering and
offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away
sins: (12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice
for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; (13)
From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
The New Testament taught us that
Jesus was the one who was told by God the Father to sit at the right
hand throne until the Father makes Jesus’ enemies His footstool.
- In fact, we are
taught this was fulfilled when Jesus resurrected from the grave and
ascended into Heaven.
From the second last verse in Mark:
Mark 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was
received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
Hebrews reveals that Jesus SAT DOWN AND EXPECTED HIS ENEMIES TO BE MADE
HIS FOOTSTOOL.
- If you were told
to sit down UNTIL YOUR ENEMIES WERE MADE YOUR FOOTSTOOL, it is as
though you are being told you are required to sit IN ORDER TO SEE those
enemies brought down.
- So, when you sit
down, you believe that THIS SEATING WILL CAUSE GOD TO BRING THOSE
ENEMIES DOWN.
- Sitting, then, is
an act of faith.
- Between the time
Jesus sat down until all His enemies are put beneath His feet, HE IS
EXPECTING.
- HE BELIEVES THE
PROMISE GIVEN TO HIM.
Jesus is God manifest in flesh.
- The SON OF GOD is
GOD but only in the sense of being the GOD-MAN.
- So the MAN part
has to believe, which is a wonderful truth!
- We likewise are
MANKIND.
- We are likewise
MEANT TO HAVE FAITH AND EXPECT.
- So, the
prerequisite for the enemies defeat is THE SEATING ON THE THRONE.
Something else that comes into this picture is the context Hebrews 10
presented to us.
- Sitting is not
only obedience to see the promise fulfilled, but also indicates
FINISHED WORK.
- We read the
priest of the Old Covenant offer sacrifices that can never finally take
away sins.
- SO THEY STAND
offering sacrifices every day.
- An unfinished
work means NO SITTING DOWN.
- But when Jesus
sat down, that indicated THE WORK WAS DONE.
Tie this together with the picture of seeing enemies brought under His
feet, and realize the work to bring the enemies under His feet was
DONE, BUT HE JUST HAD TO SIT DOWN EXPECTING THEM TO EVENTUALLY BE TAKEN
DOWN.
- Usually people
think if there are enemies out there and they are not yet beneath our
feet, there is further work to do.
- But not in this
case.
- The work to bring
them down is DONE.
- HAVE CONFIDENCE
THAT THE WORK IS DONE and PROVE YOU HAVE IT BY SITTING DOWN UNTIL THEY
COME DOWN.
- Now, that entire
picture is one powerful picture of FAITH!
- The work to
totally remove sins is done, so Jesus can SIT and expect all enemies to
be made his footstool.
DO NOTHING MORE THAN WHAT WAS DONE ON THE CROSS to see all enemies made
your footstool.
Jesus was distinctly said to have been absolutely and perfectly
obedient to the Father.
Philippians 2:8-10 And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the
cross. (9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and
given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at
the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and
things in earth, and things under the earth;
Notice we read that his obedience EVEN UNTO DEATH (showing that it was
an ultimate obedience) was the reason God highly exalted Him!
- Jesus knew how
obedient He was.
John 13:3-4 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things
into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
(4) He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took
a towel, and girded himself.
Notice that on earth when he knew all things were given into his hands,
he acted like a servant.
- But in Heaven
when He knew all things were given into His hands, HE SAT ON A THRONE!
You can as easily wash people’s feet as sit on a throne when you
know ALL THINGS ARE IN YOUR HANDS.
- People do not
lower themselves to do menial tasks if they think it threatens their
pride in the eyes of people.
- But when you have
so much faith in what God has done, you could care less what people
think of you when you act so humble, because you know the ONE WHO
COUNTS THE MOST ALREADY KNOWS THE TRUTH!
JESUS RELIES ON HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE EVEN UNTO DEATH, WHICH SPEAKS OF
THE CROSS, FOR SEEING HIS ENEMIES MADE HIS FOOTSTOOL.
- He knows NO MORE
WORK THAN WHAT THE CROSS PROVIDED will earn Him the conquest of every
enemy that exists, even of something like DEATH!
- If you were Jesus
would it not be easy for you to sit there and rely upon your perfect
obedience to cause God to bring every enemy under your feet?
- Too bad we
aren’t Jesus!
BUT….
Ephesians 1:18-21 The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what
the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward
who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
(20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the
dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
(21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but
also in that which is to come:
Ephesians 2:5-6 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath
raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in
Christ Jesus:
WE MIGHT NOT BE JESUS, BUT WE ARE SEATED WITH HIM ON HIS THRONE WHERE
HE EXPECTS HIS ENEMIES TO BE MADE HIS FOOTSTOOL.
And we have as much right to see our enemies brought down beneath our
feet as JESUS DOES!
- How can that be
so, considering we never lived such a perfectly obedient life even unto
death as He did?
- It is so because
GOD CONSIDERS JESUS CHRIST’S PERFECT AND OBEDIENT DEATH TO BE OUR
DEATHS.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into
Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:10-11 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in
that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (11) Likewise reckon ye
also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
As Jesus relies upon His perfect obedience unto death for His enjoyment
of seeing all His enemies become His footstool, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO RELY
UPON HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE SO THAT OUR ENEMIES CAN BE MADE OUR
FOOTSTOOL.
- People lack
confidence that God will do anything miraculous for them because of
their reliance upon THEIR OBEDIENCE TO GOD.
- It’s in our
instincts to rely upon obedience for God to bless us so wonderfully.
- BUT THE WONDERFUL
TRUTH IS THAT WE SIMPLY HAVE TO SHIFT THE SOURCE OF THAT PERFECT
OBEDIENCE AWAY FROM OUR PERSONAL OBEDIENCE AND DEPEND UPON HIS PERFECT
OBEDIENCE.
- God actually
considered JESUS’ DEATH TO BE OUR DEATHS.
- That means that
not only did we pay the death penalty for our crimes by Jesus taking
that penalty as us, but ALL HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE IS WHAT GOD LOOKS AT
IN ORDER TO BLESS US WITH VICTORY OVER OUR ENEMIES!
So here is a powerful truth!
- As much as CHRIST
SAT DOWN IN FAITH DEPENDING UPON HIS PERFECT SACRIFICE TO AWARD HIM THE
CONQUEST OF ALL HIS ENEMIES AS TIME GOES BY, WITHOUT HAVING TO LIFT ONE
LITTLE FINGER TO DO ANYTHING MORE TO BRING THEM DOWN, …
- WE ACTUALLY ARE
SEATED BY FAITH ON HIS THRONE WHEN WE DEPEND UPON HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE
FOR OUR REWARD OF CONQUERING ALL OUR ENEMIES.
Picture yourself with the confidence of Jesus knowing that ALL ENEMIES
ARE COMING BENEATH YOUR FEET AS TIME GOES BY, and you do not have to
lift one more finger to bring them down.
- Who could be as
confident as that?
- Who has the
obedience of Jesus to rely upon in order to have that much confidence?
- We all know
instinctively that perfect obedience is what is required for God to
powerfully bless us.
- We instinctively
know that the more obedient a person is, the more God will bless.
- BUT OUR MISTAKE
HAS BEEN IN THINKING IT IS OUR OBEDIENCE.
- The truth is that
this does not mean we can get off with committing sins and still have
God’s blessing.
- If we sin, we
have to repent.
- The moment and
second we GENUINELY ARE SORRY FOR THAT SIN AND GENUINELY INTEND TO
NEVER DO THAT AGAIN, we are forgiven.
- And IN THAT
STATE, when we RELY ON JESUS’ OBEDIENCE FOR OUR REWARDS, those
rewards are as good as done!
- So we obey in
repenting and asking GENUINE forgiveness in GENUINE desire to not sin,
but the obedience of perfect submission unto death is not something
that is required from our experience.
- We rely on THAT
kind of perfect Obedience BY LOOKING TO JESUS CHRIST’S PERFECT
OBEDIENCE.
We can never commit the perfect obedience necessary to see God award us
with conquest over all our enemies.
- That degree of
obedience means dying as a perfect sacrifice.
- But God has
worked it out that we can claim Jesus’ perfect obedience unto
death as our reason for God bringing all our enemies under our feet.
When we realize we can rely on Jesus’ perfect obedience for our
victories, then you can see how some people have come to an awesome
level of faith!
Jesus was told to sit in order to see those enemies brought down, which
meant He was to know He had to do nothing more than what was done on
the cross to award Him all of that.
- We are LIKEWISE
to SIT ON THE THRONE by acknowledging that we have NOTHING TO DO IN
ORDER TO EARN CONQUEST OVER OUR ENEMIES.
- WE ARE TO RELY
UPON HIS PERFECT DEATH AS MUCH AS HE DID IN ORDER TO SEE OUR ENEMIES
BROUGHT DOWN.
Doesn’t that make it EASY to have confidence that God will work?
By depending upon HIS DEATH in order to have confidence that God will
give us these miracles, IS TO ACTUALLY SIT ON HIS THRONE WITH HIM WHERE
HE EXPECTS THE SAME THING, whether we realize we are sitting there or
not.
So we sit on the THRONE when we expect enemies to come down because of
the cross.
- It is sitting
with Him when we believe for victory because sitting means the work is
finished, and there is nothing left to do to see enemies come down
except expecting it.
- EXPECTING IT
means you are convinced it is going to happen!
- Jesus is
convinced!
- Be convinced with
Him!
- SIT WITH HIM!
We’re so programmed to earn blessings from God by our obedience
that we will be tempted to jump off the throne and scurry away to do
something.
We hesitate to believe because we look to OUR goodness.
- Nothing we can do
will please God and move Him to bless us except SITTING THERE AND
EXPECTING IN FAITH, because GOD IS LOOKING FOR YOUR RELIANCE ON THE
DEATH OF THE CROSS IN ORDER TO BLESS YOU.
When you DO NOTHING TO EARN ANY VICTORY EXCEPT RELY UPON WHAT JESUS DID
FOR YOU ON THE CROSS, THEN YOU ARE SITTING ON A THRONE WITH JESUS
CHRIST!
- And God is
showing us that exerting this kind of faith is sitting on throne
BECAUSE THAT IS HOW YOU WILL SEE ENEMIES COME UNDER YOUR FEET.
- Let time pass and
still see the enemies do things and continue to act.
- BUT JUST BELIEVE
GOD HAS IT IN CONTROL AND WHILE THE WORK WAS DONE ON THE CROSS TO BRING
THEM DOWN, THE TIME IS IN HIS HANDS AS TO WHEN THEY WILL ACTUALLY COME
DOWN.
- It is often a
test of your faith.
- God lets time
pass to really see if you will jump up off the throne and scurry around
trying to do something to earn the victory, or even to take matters
into your own hands and bring the enemy down in your power.
- IT DOES NOT WORK
THAT WAY!
We were united to Him on that cross, and our lives were so knit
together with His that God counts HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE UNTO DEATH AS
OUR DEATHS!
It’s like I had to be presentable to God in order to see my
enemies brought down, so I leaped inside of Jesus Christ’s body
when He was presented to God, and relied upon His righteousness for all
my blessings.
- THAT IS EXACTLY
WHY THE BIBLE SAYS WE ARE “IN CHRIST!”
All the confidence Jesus has due to His obedience is the confidence we
can have!
THIS IS KINGDOM FAITH!
- It’s THRONE
FAITH!
- When we have
faith that HIS GOODNESS is why WE CAN HAVE VICTORY, THEN WE ARE SEATED
with Him ON HIS THRONE!
Consider an enemy that you need to overcome.
- Then picture
yourself sitting on THE THRONE OF JESUS CHRIST!
- And so long as
you depend on HIS PERFECT OBEDIENCE, God has the means to BRING DOWN
THAT ENEMY.
- While the enemy
is being dealt with, knowing he is coming down, he will shoot thoughts
and lies into your mind trying to get you to jump off the throne and
try to earn your own victory.
- HE KNOWS AS LONG
AS YOU KEEP TRUSTING IN CHRIST’S OBEDIENCE, GOD WILL BRING HIM
BENEATH YOUR FEET.
Sit there and turn your attention to another enemy.
- Remain seated
while He brings that enemy down.
- IOW, keep holding
on to Christ’s obedience for your blessing.
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with
me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my
Father in his throne.
How did Jesus overcome?
- BY HIS PERFECT
OBEDIENCE UNTO DEATH on the cross.
- You cannot
overcome any closer to how He did by RELYING ON HIS OBEDIENCE AS THOUGH
IT WAS YOUR OWN, IN ORDER FOR GOD TO BLESS YOU!
- You overcome BY
REFUSING TO STAND ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN HIS OBEDIENCE AS THOUGH H IT
WAS YOUR OWN!
- You overcome
attempts to earn it yourself.
- You overcome
attempts to take it into your own hands, or to improve your good works.
- The only
obedience you need is repenting over what sins you committed, but
forget trying to be good enough through good deeds to move God to bless
you.
Almost two weeks, the groundwork of this ministry and new endeavour
started to form.
- Our former
situation was changing rapidly.
- God began telling
me, so to speak, to BE SEATED ON THE THRONE AND EXPECT HINDRANCES TO BE
PUT UNDER MY FEET.
- In particular, my
mother called me that Monday, Nov 1, telling me of a dream she had of
my uncle who was the mentor of my mentors, and who died five years ago,
calling her on the telephone.
- He told her to
tell my brother Shawn that he needed him to come out and help him pray
for people.
- He said he
already contacted me and I was already there praying.
We wondered what it all meant, as there was no direct situation that
would involve my brother with this new church work.
- Then the next day I received a
call from another uncle of mine in NC.
- Other preachers gave counsel in my
hard time over this, and he called at 1:00pm and gave me a word from
the Lord saying to step forth and believe God.
- I received a release from the
former situation, and in the Spirit I sat down on the throne with
Christ expecting all hindrances to this endeavour to be put under my
feet.
- THAT SEATING kicked into effect
some miraculous events.
- Shawn called me later that day,
saying that at 2:00pm Ontario time, which was the same time I received
this phone call, he suddenly could not stop thinking of coming out here
to be with us.
- As he picked up his wife and drove
home, she said my wife and I were on her mind all that day.
- He stopped the car, told her he
could not stop thinking of us and visiting us either.
- We told him of several
confirmations by email and telephone.
- After we hung up the phone, I
called again since I forgot to ask him if he heard about the dream my
mother had.
- He said he hadn’t.
- When he heard that I was somewhere
that my uncle asked him to come and help out, he was amazed at how God
was working and made up his mind to come out the end of this month for
a visit.
- The end of the month turned into
this past weekend when his wife shared with her employer about the
whole experience, and was told she was given $200 to come out.
- She got home and realized it was
actually $500!
- They called again and said they
were leaving the next Morning!
That same uncle who passed away five years ago, and called my mother in
her dream, had told my brother and I that Shawn would one day be
helping us in a church.
Think of how God did this!
- He knew that same uncle who
foretold Shawn being in our church one day being the one in a dream for
Shawn to come THE VERY WEEK WE MAKE THE STEP OF FAITH FOR THIS WORK,
would cause us to tie all that together.
When I sat down on the throne with Jesus, so to speak, when I believed
God and trusted Him to do His will, and not allowing anything to hinder
us from making this step, THE LID BLEW OFF AND THE SUPERNATURAL POURED
IN!
God waited for me to make that step in my heart, and then the
supernatural started occurring.
Shawn is here with us today in service because he felt God tell him to
come.
If you want to see God move on your behalf, THROW OUT YOUR FEAR AND
STEP OUT IN FAITH AND SIT ON THE THRONE OF RELIANCE ON JESUS’
CROSS TO MOVE THE HAND OF GOD TO BRING DOWN THE ENEMY UNDER YOUR FEET.
Time may pass, and you see the enemy still running around.
- Do not be tempted to give up
believing, for that will mean you jumped off the throne and stopped
expecting.
- EXPECTING IS HOLDING ONTO FAITH.
- It’s like Jacob wrestling
with the angel and not letting go until you are blessed.
- It’s like standing in the
Jordan river while holding up the ark until God splits the Jordan open
for a way for people to cross over into the Promised land!
MAINTAIN THAT SEATING AND THAT POSITION OF FAITH IN THE CROSS FOR YOUR
VICTORY, AND THE ENEMY WILL BE BROUGHT DOWN IN GOD’S TIME!!

ministry so very much it has set me free from defeated thinking. I now
know about this kingdom & kingdom living...... A true blessing

I saw you climbing this Mountain, you are almost to the top, the
weather was cold but you didn't notice because your focus was the goal
before you and it looked like you were still going strong even after
climbing from the bottom to where you are. I have that sense that it
means God is gracing you and you're almost through the hardest parts.
Soon ( and I don't know how long soon is) but SOON you will reach the
top and then there will be a season of "easier". Although there still
still might be a climb ahead yet I see God has equipped you and you
going forth in His strength, you'll make it.
If you remember David, the 14 years of running, hiding and passing all
those tests? Just before his breakthrough he got hit with hardest of
all at Ziglag -but the breakthrough came and with it his kingdom.
