Jos 3:2-11 KJV And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host; (3) And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. (4) Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. (5) And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you. (6) And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people. (7) And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. (8) And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan. (9) And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the LORD your God. (10) And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites. (11) Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan. Heb 6:17-20 KJV Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: (18) That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: (19) Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; (20) Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
The two elements of the ark of the covenant and Joshua, himself, stand for Jesus Christ.
Rom 5:11 KJV And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Leaving Egypt always represented being saved from sin.
1Co 10:1-2 KJV Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; (2) And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; We're baptized unto JESUS in the water and Spirit. But entrance into Canaan is something which has not been preached much except for the mistaken notion that it represents dying and going to heaven.
Passing another body of water is required.
And this entrance into Canaan, with a Jordan River divided by the ark of the covenant on the shoulders of the priests who stepped into the river speaks of Christ's death in opening up the most holy place by tearing the dividing barrier of the veil in two. Like the ark, Jesus has gone on before us as forerunner into the most holy place.
Josh 3(4) Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. This shows us that enough space had to be given between the ark and the people so they could get a clear view of exactly where the ark was going.
The devil is above conquest when we are not in the proper place spiritually that we need to be.
Joh 14:30 KJV Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. The devil had nothing in Jesus.
Eph 4:22-27 KJV That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (25) Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. (26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: (27) Neither give place to the devil. Here is where TRUE HOLINESS comes in.
Hebrews 6 says Jesus passed the veil into the HOLIEST. In the very next chapter we read: Heb 7:22-25 KJV By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. (23) And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: (24) But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. (25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. The holiest is a word a lot like the uttermost.
We need to be more than crucified to sin... but to the world and to the flesh. Gal 6:14 KJV But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. When we think like the world and are afraid like the world and worry like the world, we have not followed Christ through this fleshly veiling in our lives to see it rip and rend and see us enter the most holy place. There is one old testament statement in the NT that is quoted more than any other OT statement. Psa 110:1 KJV <A Psalm of David.> The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. It is quoted on the day of Pentecost. Act 2:30-36 KJV Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; (31) He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. (32) This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. (33) Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. (34) For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, (35) Until I make thy foes thy footstool. (36) Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. And we read of it in Col 3 Col 2:20-3:3 KJV Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (21) (Touch not; taste not; handle not; (22) Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? (23) Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. (3:1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. And it is associated with US HAVING NEED TO SEEK THE THINGS RELATED TO WHERE CHRIST IS SEATED.
Rom 8:2-8 KJV For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. TRUE SEPARATION FROM THE WORLD IS THINKING DIFFERENTLY. Every where you see this mentioned in the New Testament, when you read all around it is rebuking people for living in a LAW-TYPE mentality.
Moses only took them to the Jordan, but JOSHUA/JESUS takes us passed and into the holiest. Saves us to the uttermost! When we let go this doubting and fearing and worldly emphasis upon material things and clothing, and get into true holiness of separation of OUR MINDS -- not wardrobes -- we will be CRUCIFIED TO THE WORLD AND THE FLESH. Satan will have nothing in us.
Rom 12:1-3 KJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (3) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. People think so highly of themselves.
People's flesh and lusts love to excuse themselves from this ultimate sacrifice by convincing themselves that conforming to the world is the way you dress.
But compare that with holding up the ark that was stained with blood of a sacrifice on OUR SHOULDERS, and claiming to God THIS IS WHY I CAN ENTER!
It is above where Christ sits on the right hand that I belong.
Eph 1:15-22 KJV Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, (16) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; (17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, (21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Eph 2:5-6 KJV Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: |
