Genesis
2:18-24 KJV And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man
should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. (19)
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and
every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would
call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was
the name thereof. (20) And Adam gave names to all cattle,
and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for
Adam there was not found an help meet for him. (21) And the
LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he
took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
(22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he
a woman, and brought her unto the man. (23) And Adam said,
This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be
called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (24)
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave
unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
God made a statement saying man should not be alone.
- God would
make Adam a help who would be meet, or suitable, for him.
- So all the
animals of creation are made and they are paraded before Adam to see
what Adam would CALL THEM.
- Notice
that it is God’s desire for Adam to have a HELP.
- And the
manner in which God carried through with this plan is by creating
animals and have them presented to Adam.
- God
watches what Adam names them, since God wanted Adam to have a help meet.
- It is
interesting that before God actually makes a help meet like he said He
would, that He presents animals to Adam and watches what Adam will name
them.
- This is a
very important key point to take notice of.
- God has a
message He is trying to emphasize to us in this account.
- We read on
and see Adam does indeed name the animals.
- And we
then read something that explains and associates the desire for God to
make a help meet for Adam and why God presented animals for him to name.
Gen 2: .
(20) And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the
air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found
an help meet for him.
Naming the creatures was associated with finding a HELP FOR ADAM.
And when we see God cause Adam to sleep and remove a rib to make the
woman, we read:
Gen 2 (22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man,
made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. (23) And
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she
shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Adam calls her WOMAN.
- Woman
means OUT OF MAN.
- And since
this turned out to be the help Adam needed, we find that the difference
between all the animals and the woman that caused her to be the help he
needed was IN WHAT HE CALLED HER.
- The
difference was SHE CAME OUT OF MAN.
- Adam’s
help could only be someone WHO CAME OUT OF HIMSELF.
- The names
he called creatures described something about them.
- And the
nature of the woman was described in her label.
- And since
she was called by what characterized her, and she was characterized by
being made OUT OF MAN, her name distinguished her as the reason
she would be his help meet.
- Notice
also that we distinctly read the animals were made from the dust of the
ground.
Genesis 2:19 KJV And out of the ground the LORD God formed every
beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto
Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every
living creature, that was the name thereof.
Genesis 2:22 KJV And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from
man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
So God makes animals from the ground and a woman from Adam’s rib,
and brought her to the man just as he brought the animals to Adam.
- God
watches the reaction and what he would call her, and we are made to
focus on the thought and realize that Adam recognized that since she
was taken from him, she would be the help he looked for.
- It’s
like the picture of the cross.
- All
mankind before the cross was useless as a help to God.
- But when
Christ died, and the CHURCH CAME FROM THE BODY OF CHRIST, and a new
creature existed, THAT WAS WHAT CHRIST WOULD NEED FOR HIS BRIDE AND
HELP.
- And God
wants us to recognize that the only reason we are of any use to Christ
IS DUE TO THE CROSS!
- After
Jesus died, HE WAS PIERCED IN THE SIDE by a spear.
John 19:34 KJV But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his
side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
It seems to remind us of EVE’S ORIGIN.
- After Adam
slept the rib was removed.
- (“RIB”
in Hebrew literally means SIDE, and is translated into SIDE many times
in the Bible.)
- After
Christ died, just as AFTER ADAM SLEPT, the church was able to come
forth from him.
- Adam
needed a help IN THE KINGDOM.
- Christ has
a help in the church for the KINGDOM.
- If we want
o be effective and OF HELP and usefulness to GOD IN THIS KINGDOM, we
have to understand these truths.
- We are
from Christ.
- He is our
origin as much as Adam was Eve’s origin.
- Without
HIM WE ARE NOTHING.
- But notice
that Christ directs us to ABIDE IN HIM after we were CREATED FROM HIM.
- It is not
enough to be created from Him.
- We now
must ABIDE IN HIM.
- It is just
like the woman coming from Adam making Adam INCOMPLETE.
- Part of
his body was removed.
- And that
part was made into the woman.
- The only
way He can be complete and one again is having her return to him and
reuniting to Him in a far different manner than she originally was as
his rib.
- Intimacy
causes the two to be ONE FLESH once again.
- And this
reproduces Adam again IN CHILDREN!
- As much as
Eve had to reunite to Adam and make Adam complete again, and reproduce
ADAM, the church has to REUNITE to CHRIST AGAIN in INTIMACY in order to
produce FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.
- God is
love, and when we produce fruit of the Spirit notice the first one IS
LOVE.
Galatians 5:22
KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
John 15:1-4 KJV I am the true vine, and my Father is the
husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit
he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it,
that it may bring forth more fruit. (3) Now ye are clean
through the word which I have spoken unto you. (4) Abide in
me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it
abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Like a branch bearing FRUIT for the VINE, we ABIDE IN CHRIST in a true
REUNION, and FRUIT is produced.
The rib came from Adam IN HIS DEEP SLEEP.
- It
reunited to Adam in the form of a WOMAN.
The Church came from Christ IN HIS DEATH OF THE CROSS.
- We reunite
to Him AS THE CHURCH.
- And since
we REUNITE TO HIM, consider how we first CAME FORTH FROM HIM and CAME
INTO EXISTENCE.
- FROM THE
CROSS.
- So reunion
to Him INVOLVES EXPERIENCING THE CROSS.
- And this
is how fruit of the Spirit is reproduced.
- WE DENY
SELF by taking up THE CROSS, and FLESHLY WORKS or DEEDS OF THE BODY are
mortified, and FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CAN COME FORTH.
- And we
also know that WE CAN BE OF NO USE TO HIM WITHOUT OUR CONSCIOUS
AWARENESS AND RELIANCE UPON THE WORK OF THE CROSS for any success we
can have in the spiritual realm.
Fruit of the Spirit are contrary to works of the flesh.
- And the
only way we can produce fruit of the Spirit is by intimacy with the
Lord and denial of self by the cross.
When Jesus died, His side was pierced, and blood and water came forth.
- This
speaks of the BIRTHING OF THE CHURCH – with blood and water.
- The CHURCH
CAME FORTH FROM HIS DEATH.
- HIS DEEP
SLEEP.
- And at the
same time, THE VEIL IN THE TEMPLE RIPPED OPEN!
Hebrews 10 says the veil stands for HIS FLESH.
- A new and
LIVING WAY.
- WAY OF
LIFE.
- And if the
veil is His flesh, he is actually the HOLY OF HOLIES.
- So the way
we reunite to Him, by ABIDING IN HIM after we came forth from Him, is
to ENTER HIS BODY AGAIN as we would ENTER THE MOST HOLY PLACE.
- ABIDING IN
CHRIST is like getting INSIDE THE HOLIEST OF HOLIES.
- And when
Jesus told us to ABIDE IN HIM we can understand what He meant by that
by considering what the BIBLE says about ABIDING IN THE HOLIEST OF
HOLIES.
Psalms 91:1-16 KJV He that dwelleth in the secret place of the
most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (2)
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him
will I trust.
When you are able to TRUST IN GOD, you are truly abiding in Him.
- If you
cannot trust God, and act in fear and become anxious and worried about
life’s situations, you are not abiding in Him.
- You are
not in the most holy place.
- But if you
do abide in Him by TRUSTING IN FAITH IN your relationship with Him to
see God bless you, read what benefits you will have…
(3) Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence. (4) He shall cover thee
with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth
shall be thy shield and buckler.
You are seated with Him on the MERCYSEAT underneath the WINGS OF THE
CHERUBIMS.
(5) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the
arrow that flieth by day; (6) Nor for the pestilence that
walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at
noonday. (7) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten
thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
(8) Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of
the wicked. (9) Because thou hast made the LORD, which is
my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; (10) There
shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy
dwelling. (11) For he shall give his angels charge over
thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. (12) They shall bear
thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(13) Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and
the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. (14) [NOW THE
WRITING SPEAKS FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE] Because he hath set his
love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name. (15) He shall call upon me,
and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver
him, and honour him. (16) With long life will I satisfy
him, and shew him my salvation.
When you abide in Christ, HE IS YOUR REFUGE!
- You have
realized YOU ARE SAFE BY TRUSTING IN HIM.
When life’s situations arise, and you have enough faith to claim
your relationship to God through Jesus Christ, and you KNOW that faith
will move God to trust Him, so you exert faith and remain CALM
expecting Him to bless, YOU ARE ABIDING IN CHRIST!
THIS is INTIMACY with the Lord!
- Trusting
in Him this way is what Jesus meant by ABIDING IN HIM.
- He is the
secret place, the most holy place because behind the veil it is secret
from all others.
- It is
entering into the REST, because we enter and are seated on the
mercyseat IN CHRIST.
