A Week Before He Resurrected

Mat 21:1-12 KJV  And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,  (2)  Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.  (3)  And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.  (4)  All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,  (5)  Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.  (6)  And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,  (7)  And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.  (8)  And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.  (9)  And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.  (10)  And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?  (11)  And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.  (12)  And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

This passage shows the events that happened a week before Jesus resurrected.

And they cried HOSANNA.  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (verse 9.)

Psalm 118:25-26 KJV  Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, (HOSANNA) send now prosperity.  (26)  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

Matt 21:(9)  And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

They believed the kingdom was coming!

Zechariah 9:9 KJV  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

They knew he had salvation when He came.

Notice Psalm 118 says WE HAVE BLESSED YOU OUT OF THE HOUSE OF THE LORD.

When Jesus goes to the temple, the house of the Lord, He does not see them blessing Him!

Mat 21:10-13 KJV  And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?  (11)  And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.  (12)  And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,  (13)  And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

They were changing money in the temple when the religious leaders should have been CHANGING LIVES and worshiping Jesus when He came in!

And before the week was out, they crucified Him!

What a difference a week makes!

And the next time Sunday rolled around HE RESURRECTED AS KING OF KINGS and CONQUERED DEATH AND THE GRAVE!

And the wonderful thing is that in the Psalm 118 where they cried the same words HOSANNA, BLESSED IS HE THAT COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, we read these words JUST BEFORE THEM!

Psalm 118:22-26 KJV  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.  (23)  This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.  (24)  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  (25)  Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.  (26)  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

What DAY was it that the stone the builders rejected  was made the head of the corner?  What day do we rejoice in?

Jesus was made head of the corner ON THE DAY OF HIS RESURRECTION.

In the same chapter where they initially accepted Him as King and cried Hosanna from Psalm 118, we read they rejected Him.

Then He said these words.

Mat 21:42 KJV  Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

That was from the SAME PSALM at HOSANNA and BLESSED IS HE THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD is from!

They read about Hosanna, and blessing the name of the Lord.

They weren't in the house of the Lord blessing Him!

Look what happened after he entered the temple and flipped their money tables:

Mat 21:23 KJV  And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

They were in the temple, but they weren't blessing him out of it.

But after that Sunday, the last week before the cross took place.

And Jesus always said He had to leave and go to the father so that they would do His things and greater things than those.

John 14:12 KJV  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

He had to go to the Father who was ON THE THRONE IN GLORY.

He was high priest going to the HOLIEST where the throne of the true mercyseat pictured on the ark of the covenant was.

Lev 16:14-16 KJV  And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.  (15)  Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:  (16)  And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

Heb 4:14 KJV  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

The true holiest is not in a temple on earth.

Heb 9:24 KJV  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Heb 9:12 KJV  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

As the high priest went to the Father in the Old Testament to make atonement with the blood of sacrifice, JESUS WENT TO THE FATHER IN HEAVEN the true holiest of holies.

Rev 4:2 KJV  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Rev 5:1-2 KJV  And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.  (2)  And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

No one can go just as none could enter the holiest of holies.... except one.

Rev 5:4-6 KJV  And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.  (5)  And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.  (6)  And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

And that lamb WENT TO THE THRONE - THE SON WENT TO THE FATHER!

Rev 5:7 KJV  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

That's what Jesus meant earlier when he said he had to go to the Father!

Rev 5:9 KJV  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

And the next time you hear about people from every kindred and nation...

Where no one could go before the throne just a little while ago... suddenly things change!

Rev 7:9 KJV  After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

And look... they have PALMS IN THEIR HANDS!!!

And look at what they're saying!

Rev 7:10 KJV  And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

HOSANNA means SAVE US, OH KING!

Rev 3:21 KJV  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

God is both FATHER AND SON!

ONE KING, so to speak!

There's not two kings!

And read on!

Rev 7:15 KJV  Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

They serve him DAY AND NIGHT IN HIS TEMPLE!

Psalm 118:25-26 KJV  Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, (HOSANNA) send now prosperity.  (26)  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

THIS TIME everything is right!

What's the temple?

1Pe 2:5 KJV  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

THE CHURCH!

His will in heaven is done here in earth!
