BREAKING
UP OUR DEPTHS

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: lean
not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and
he shall direct thy paths.
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses
shall burst out with new wine.
Speaking of wisdom and her ways…
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:
and happy is every one that retaineth her. 19 The Lord by wisdom
hath founded the earth; by understanding he hath established the heavens.
20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds
drop down the dew. 21 My son, let not them depart from
thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall
not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid:
yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not
afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when
it cometh. 26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall
keep thy foot from being taken.
This chapter in Proverbs encourages the person saved by God’s grace
to reach out and live a life that is different!
- It’s beyond
just claiming to be a Christian.
- It’s beyond
just attending church.
- It’s getting
into a lifestyle that is powerful.
- We ended
our quote from this chapter by reading the words of walking a walk wherein
you do not stumble, or slip and make mistakes all the time.
- Having sweet
sleep, where you do not fear the night, or the times of trouble.
- Talk about
a rest!
- A life where
God is your confidence!
And we see that the
ways of wisdom are the key points.
God founded the earth and established the heavens.
And note that we then read of a subsequent breaking up of the depths
of the earth and a pouring down from the windows of Heaven.
Is it not wonderful to think that God founded the earth with fountains
locked up inside her?
- And the heavens
were filled with a reservoir of rains.
Since the times of
Genesis’ beginnings, the earth and the heavens locked up within themselves
fountains and rivers.
- We read that
a mist came up from the earth and watered the ground in Gen 2:6.
- But something
still lay locked up in both Heaven and Earth.
- And it was
not until we come to Noah’s day that reservoirs of fountains and stored
up waters of heaven and earth were loosed out into the earth.
- And Genesis
7 uses the same terms we just read in Proverbs 3.
Gen 7:11 In the
six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day
of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken
up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon
the earth forty days and forty nights.
Compare verse 11 with Proverbs 3:20
Gen 7:11 ...all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows
of heaven were opened.
Prov 3:20 . By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds
drop down the dew.
Just as the Earth and the Heavens were made in Genesis 1, later to
be opened up to release their stores of flooding waters, Proverbs 3:19
says the Lord founded the earth and established the heavens by his wisdom
and understanding, to be followed by speaking of His knowledge causing
the depths to be broken up and the windows of heaven to pour out the floods.
- And when
we read those following words of the earth bursting open and the windows
of heaven busting forth, we realizing that God’s wisdom in making them included
the thought that He stored these precious floods in both the earth and the
heaven.
- His wisdom
in making the heaven and earth, in other words, included the reserves of
treasures in them, to one day be burst open.
Something significant
is noted about Noah’s day being the time when the reserves in Heaven and
Earth were burst open.
Adam was the man in the days of the beginning.
Noah was the key man in the days of the loosing.
In Adam’s day we read the ground was cursed to force man to labour
in sweat for his food.
But in Noah’s day…
Genesis 5:28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years,
and begat a son: 29 And he called his son’s name Noah, saying, This
same shall comfort us concerning the our work and toil of our hands, because
the ground which the Lord hath cursed.
From Adam, it was not until Noah was come, that something would be
done that would bring COMFORT.
- Noah’s very
name means REST.
- Something
would be done.
- Something
would occur.
And we find that those
heavens and the earth that were founded and established when God put Adam
on the earth, would burst open in Noah’s day.
The pouring out of
the fountains of flooding waters from both earth and heaven washed a sinful
world of fleshly activity and ungodliness away.
- Noah was carried
up and away by the flood in the ark into a new world, that was left after
the cleansing waters abated from the earth.
- And God inspired
Noah’s father to note that Noah would bring about a rest and a comfort.
Proverbs 3 spoke about
the confidence and fearlessness.
21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom
and discretion: 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace
to thy neck. 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot
shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid:
yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not afraid
of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being
taken.
And it says this after noting the very words that were noted in Noah’s
day when the floods burst open.
What is God trying to tell us?
Church, you are the earth.
- God made
you from both heaven and earth.
- He made your
body from the dust of the ground and breathed into you the breath of Life
as the winds of Heaven in God’s mouth breathed into us.
- That was
the first creation.
- NEW CREATION
is when the winds of the Holy Ghost blew into the upper room and filled
the house and the 120 on the day of Pentecost.
And as Christians filled
with His Spirit, there are treasures reserved inside of us.
- Something
causes them to break out and allow us to rest.
- Something
causes them to burst from with us, within this “Earth” of our bodies, to
experience what the words of vv. 21-26 speak about.
- As Noah’s
day would bring a comfort and rest, the breaking forth of the floods in our
lives do so as well, spiritually.
Something causes the
depths within us to break open and let forth these rivers of life!
- Something
opens up God’s blessings from heaven!
- What is that
something?
BY KNOWLEDGE….
. 20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds
drop down the dew.
We need to learn some things.
- We need to
be made aware of some truths.
- Learn about
reality!
- Learn what
is real in your life since you’re a Christian.
- When we learn
about what is within our souls since we’re saved, our depths will be broken
up and these things will burst forth and through to the surface.
- They’ll overflow
our lives!
Knowledge of Him.
By His knowledge.
It’s awareness of what is inside us!
- Christ is
in you!
- Truths about
what lies dormant in our lives must be learned!
- You can have
gifts lying within you inactive and dormant, like Timothy.
- When we learn
who we are and who He is, we will experience an authority rise up and out
of our lives which will move us to see miracles, and heal the sick, and
cast out devils.
- We will start
taking charge in our lives.
Speaking of the phrase
BY HIS KNOWLEDGE…
Eph. 1:17…That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of
him. 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened that
you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the
glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness
of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his might
power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead,
and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.
We need to know how great his power towards us really is!
If you have power to the degree He used power to raise Christ up from
the dead, then you have a lot of power towards you!
- No wonder
Paul said we’re seated with Jesus!
- If God has
power towards us wherewith He raised up Christ from the dead to sit in
heavenly places, then it only stands to reason that we’re thereby seated
with Christ in heavenly places.
You need to know some
things so something deep inside, in the depths, will break open in your
life.
- Proverbs
says that you will have a confidence if this occurs.
- You will
not fear when this occurs.
Paul asks the Romans
why they do not know they were baptized into Christ’s death when they were
baptized into Him.
- According
to Romans 6:2, we are dead to sin and should never live any longer in it!
- And as if
to answer a shocked congregation with mouths agape, wondering how on earth
they could ever live outside of sin, Paul then asks, “Know ye not that
you were baptized into Christ to be baptized into His death. And
if you’re baptized into His death then that means you are also risen with
Him, from the dead, freed from sin.. because those who are dead are freed
from sin. So now you can live over sin, because when Christ arose,
with whom you were risen, He arose for death and sin to never have power
over Him again! So you are also risen over sin and death. DO
YOU NOT KNOW THIS?!!”
Knowing this --- the
knowledge of Him… causes the depths to break up and open!
Something starts to come up and out of our lives.
Faith rises up!
It lifts us away and floods out all the uncleanness and unbelief and
brings us into a veritable new world.
Genesis 7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth…
Fleshly living is then GONE!
There’s a lot of flesh in Pentecostal people.
- This means
there is much carnality and fleshly ways.
- Fake Christianity,
although a genuine Christian new birth occurred.
- Fake Christian
living is putting on the looks of a spiritual life, when in reality we
fear and dread the night.
- No confidence.
- Bitter sleep.
- Proverbs
says our sleep can be sweet!
We trip up too much.
- Did you know
there is grace to overcome those slip-ups?
Contrast these verses:
Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies that
ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Romans 8:11 But if the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead
dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken
your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore,
brethren, we are debtors, not the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die: but if ye through
the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live.
The quickening of our mortal bodies is the enlivening, and the life-giving
of power to override lusts.
- But it all
started way back in chapter 6 with simply KNOWING SOME THINGS.
- Once you
know about them, you can have FAITH FOR THEM.
Church, everyone one
of you have God’s power towards you that equals the power He used to resurrect
Christ and put Him over all other powers.
- And everyone
one of you, me included, are unaware of much of that power.
- We know it
mentally, but not in heart-engendered belief.
- We’re in
need of HIS KNOWLEDGE.
- That is why
we need preaching like this.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…
It’s power that works in us.
It’s down there inside us.
It’s waiting to be utilized.. tapped into.
The world’s earth holds and houses treasures… oil reserves… gold and
silver.
- It’s right
there waiting for man to tap into it.
- There is
POWER IN US.
- It’s there
right now!
- Healing power
is in you in the Holy Ghost.
- Victorious
power over every devil that exists!
- Power over
sin.
- Power so
exceeding and great that it’s beyond what you can even imagine!
- IN YOU RIGHT
NOW.
- And what
is going to break open those depths and see it come forth?
- What is going
to also break open Heaven and see it pour out blessings in barrels and
barrels?
- HIS KNOWLEDGE.
- No wonder
Paul prayed THAT I MIGHT KNOW HIM!
Since God first saved
us, these reservoirs were stored up within us.
- We just never
knew about them!
- Since “New
Creation began” they were there.
I’ve sown the seed
of the word in your hearts now.
- You know
how there are four kinds of soil.
- Stony soil
that will not remember one thing I said after the service.
- Shallow soil
from which the devil easily steals it away.
- Thorny soil,
in which some hearts are just too struck on the things of the world to
appreciate and experience all the word has to offer.
- And good
soil.
- You determine
your soil type—YOU.
Now that I’ve sown
the word, come up to the altar and let the Lord rain down His spirit on
your soil, and bring that life in this word forth!
- Worship and
allow God to rain on you.
- Worship,
praise and prayer after the word is given will allow God to bring the increase.
- It allows
the rain of the Holy Ghost to quicken your mortal bodies so you do not live
after the flesh, but rather begin doing things after the Spirit!
