The Word of God
Part 6 - January 8, 2016
John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Jesus prayed for everyone to be saved by believing on the words of the apostles whom he sent into the world with the truth.
• BUILD ON WHAT THEY SAID and we build on foundation of JESUS!
Ephesians 2:19-20 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and
foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of
God; (20) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles
and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
• If we stumble at that, then we stumble at cornerstone and at Jesus!
• SEE HOW THAT CHRIST’S WORDS COME
TOGETHER With the scripture about the foundation of the apostles and
prophets and chief cornerstone Jesus?
If you are willing to believe in Jesus according to the gospel the
Apostles preached, then you can know that JESUS PRAYED FOR YOUR
SALVATION ALREADY!
This is why the apostles often spoke of the demand to believe THEIR message.
Notice who “US” refers to.
(2 Peter 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were
spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the
apostles of the Lord and Saviour:)
Remember the foundation is the prophets and apostles.
So, when we read Gal.1 and hear the reference to “WE”, you know it is the apostles.
CHURCH AT GALATIA:
Galatians 1:6-12 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from
him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Already some come to take them away from truth.
(7) Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Not a different gospel BUT PERVERTING the GOSPEL.
(8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be
accursed.
This is the GOSPEL taught 2000 years ago!
• THE APOSTLES’.
• I HAVE TO ALIGN MYSELF TO THESE WORDS!
• Many have noticed this and CHANGED after they
realized they had not been taught what the apostles taught!
(9) As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any
other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be
accursed.
BOLD STATEMENT.
• ONE SENT BY GOD!
• How tell a false prophet?
• PAUL SAID IT HERE!
• It is the one who is not preaching what APOSTLES PREACHED.
• No matter how kind a minister may be, we have to line his words up with the Bible.
(10) For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please
men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of
Christ. (11) But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel
which was preached of me is not after man. (12) For I
neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the
revelation of Jesus Christ.
PAUL WAS STRUCK DOWN ON ROAD TO Damascus (Acts 9), and went to desert and was taught of God, three year period (Gal. 1).
Galatians 1:11-17 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel
which was preached of me is not after man. (12) For I
neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the
revelation of Jesus Christ. (13) For ye have heard of my
conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond
measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: (14)
And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own
nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my
fathers. (15) But when it pleased God, who separated me
from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16) To
reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;
immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (17)
Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me;
but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Paul got his revelation of the gospel directly from God.
Here is how we know:
Galatians 1:18-24 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem
to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. (19) But
other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
(20) Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I
lie not. (21) Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria
and Cilicia; (22) And was unknown by face unto the churches
of Judaea which were in Christ: (23) But they had heard
only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith
which once he destroyed. (24) And they glorified God in me.
• He found he preached exact same thing apostles preached (Gal 2:1-2, 9).
Galatians 2:1-2 Then fourteen years after I went up again to
Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. (2)
And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel
which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of
reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
Paul made sure he preached what the apostles preached so he would realize all his efforts were not in vain.
Galatians 2:7-10 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel
of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the
circumcision was unto Peter; (8) (For he that wrought
effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same
was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) (9) And when James,
Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that
was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of
fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the
circumcision. (10) Only they would that we should remember
the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
• THEY ALL HAD ONE MESSAGE that never changed.
1 Peter 4:17-18 For the time is come that judgment must
begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the
end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (THE ANSWER FOR
THIS IS IN 2 THESS. 1) (18) And if the righteous scarcely be
saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
This judgment BEGAN WITH APOSTLES.
• This bible is so anointed that Peter asked a question that Paul answered in another letter.
• God ordained it that way.
So what is end of them that obey not gospel?
Peter actually answered it by implication.
• NONE CAN BE Saved WHO DO NOT OBEY.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 (7) And to you who are troubled
rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with
his mighty angels, (8) In flaming fire taking vengeance on
them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ:
NOT KNOWING GOD is NOT OBEYING GOSPEL.
• When born again according to GOSPEL YOU KNOW HIM!
• Recall “I NEVER KNEW YOU.”
2 Thessalonians 1:9-10 (9) Who shall be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the
glory of his power; (10) When he shall come to be glorified
in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our
testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Notice whose preaching is believed in parentheses?
• THE Apostles’ gospel.
We will be judged according to what apostles preached.
