Gen
1:1-3 KJV In the beginning
God created the
heaven and the earth.
(2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was
upon
the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters. (3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was
light.
Gen 1:28 KJV And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Isa 6:1-4 KJV In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (2) Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. (3) And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. (4) And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
We read of the earth being VOID in Genesis, and then in Isaiah, like a prophetic statement we read the earth is full.
Between these two statements, we find Man is to FILL THE EARTH. So we get a clear idea of man's purpose.
GLORY is often indicated by LIGHT. God spoke to the earth and said LET THERE BE LIGHT, when it was void and without form with darkness all over it.
Isa 60:1 KJV Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. When we read the term SHINE, it actually means BE IMMERSED OR BATHED IN LIGHT!
And it gives the reason.
And it is a command.
John 1:1-5 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (5) And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:9 KJV That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. Jesus shines into our hearts and changes us and saves us and amkes us sons of God.. John 1:10-13 KJV He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (11) He came unto his own, and his own received him not. (12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (13) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. We actually become BORN OF GOD when we believe and he then gives us the privilege of being called SONS OF GOD. He actually makes a new race of human beings out of everyone who believes this LIGHT Jesus spoke. 2Co 4:6 KJV For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. As we read Isaiah 60, we read some words that are found at the very end of the bible as well. Isa 60:2-3 KJV For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. (3) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Rev 21:24-26 KJV And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. (25) And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. (26) And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. Isa 60:11 KJV Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. And amongst all those references to nations coming to us, we read; Isa 60:14 KJV The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. We are called the CITY OF THE LORD.
It continues into Isaiah 62. Isa 62:12 KJV And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken. Redeemed people are called the CITY OF GOD! Heb 12:22 KJV But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, Isa 60:19-20 KJV The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (20) Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Rev 21:23 KJV And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. God is the glory and the lamb is the LIGHT THEREOF. We read of former damage and devastation: Isa 60:17-18 KJV For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. (18) Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. And then in Isaiah 61 we read words that Jesus said was fulfilled when He began preaching 2000 years ago. Isa 61:1-4 KJV The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (2) To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (3) To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. (4) And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. We read of the city as a bride in chapter 61, and people chop up the chapter and say Jesus only said the verses he quoted were fulfilled, but the rest is not fulfilled until at least 2000 years later.
The Lord's preaching is this LIGHT that shines upon us.
Notice that Isaiah 60 began speaking about LET THERE BE LIGHT, and the end of Isa 62 speaks of God's people as a CITY!
Isa 62:4-7 KJV Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. (5) For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee. (6) I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, (7) And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. And the city is the BRIDE! Rev 21:2 KJV And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Rev 21:9-10 KJV And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. (10) And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, What are these adornments of this bride? Isa 61:10 KJV I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. And God gave WATCHMEN to stand on our walls. Isa 62: (6) I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, (7) And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. These are the preachers.
This is how the earth will be filled with God's glory.
Rev 22:1 KJV And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Hab 2:14 KJV For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. And the earth is flooded with KNOWLEDGE of the glory of the Lord.
In the middle of God's work with speaking light and then finally making man to fill himself with LIFE from the tree, satan managed to slither in and block this from occurring. So we read in Isaiah 60 about devastation and destruction. Isa 60:10-11 KJV And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. (11) Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. In his wrath he smote us.
And God will fill the earth with glory.
