PRINCIPLES
OF THE KINGDOM:
SAMUEL'S BIRTH, A FORESHADOW OF CHANGE
December 16, 2012
MF Blume
Hannah bore a child after being barren, representing the NEED FOR
A MIRACLE in the NEW ORDER of God’s ways.
· Fleshly religion is represented by PENINNAH who was bountiful
with children.
· No miracle is required in fleshly order.
· God always had it so that a miracle was required to the see
the NEW ORDER progress, because when a miracle is required to see this
progress, IT IS OUT OF THE HANDS OF FLESH.
· There is so much flesh in religion.
· It’s a counterfeit.
· When the GENUINE ORDER of God steps in, man cannot fake it.
· Genuine miracles occur.
Hannah made this song after Samuel was born, depicting the picture:
1 Samuel 2:3-5 KJV Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy
come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him
actions are weighed. (4) The bows of the mighty men are broken, and
they that stumbled are girded with strength. (5) They that were full
have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased:
so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is
waxed feeble.
Like the fleshly order that seems to productive, we read about the
mighty men with their bows.
· But when God steps in the bows are broken.
· The barren is depicted by THEY THAT STUMBLED who are girded
with strength.
· The tables turn.
· The fleshly is shown in verse 5 as THEY THAT WERE FULL.
· Much food.
· Peninnah is the flesh who had many children.
· But these full people have to hire themselves out for bread.
· The HUNGRY depicts HANNAH who had no children.
· But the hunger ceases.
· The barren has SEVEN CHILDREN, and Peninnah of the flesh who
had many children becomes feeble.
1 Samuel 2:6-10 KJV The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth
down to the grave, and bringeth up. (7) The LORD maketh poor, and
maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. (8) He raiseth up the
poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to
set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory:
for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world
upon them. (9) He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked
shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. (10)
The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven
shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth;
and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his
anointed.
The same note over and over.
· It’s like Samuel’s birth in the situation in which
it occurred, with fleshly Peninnah and barren Hannah depict the OLD
ORDER in great activity and the NEW ORDER no where around until THINGS
CHANGE!
Like Hannah and Peninnah, Eli and his sons of the OLD ORDER came to
ruin.
· The old order is shown up for what it really is.
· DEVOID OF GLORY!
· Samuel rises and is used of God, hearing God speak.
The sons of ELI WERE CROOKED and cheating the people.
1 Samuel 2:12-17 KJV Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew
not the LORD. (13) And the priests' custom with the people was, that,
when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the
flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
(14) And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all
that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did
in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither. (15) Also before
they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that
sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have
sodden flesh of thee, but raw. (16) And if any man said unto him, Let
them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy
soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me
now: and if not, I will take it by force. (17) Wherefore the sin of the
young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering
of the LORD.
Verse 13 shows the PRIEST’S CUSTOM.
· Not God’s custom.
· Taking from the people what belonged to the people.
· People hated to give to God because of ABUSE by the priests.
And a contrast between serving God and not serving God is mentioned.
1 Samuel 2:17-18 KJV Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great
before the LORD: for men abhorred the
offering of the LORD. (18) But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being
a child, girded with a linen ephod.
These boys SINNED before the Lord, but Samuel MINISTERED BEFORE THE
LORD.
A PROPHET COMES
1 Samuel 2:27-36 MSG A holy man came to Eli and said: "This is GOD's
message: I revealed myself openly to your ancestors
when they were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt. (28) Out of all the tribes of
Israel, I chose your family to be my priests: to preside at the altar,
to burn incense, to wear the priestly robes in my presence. I put your
ancestral family in charge of all the sacrificial offerings of Israel.
(29) So why do you now treat as mere loot these very sacrificial
offerings that I commanded for my worship? Why do you treat your sons
better than me, turning them loose to get fat on these offerings, and
ignoring me? (30) Therefore--this is GOD's word, the God of Israel
speaking--I once said that you and your ancestral family would be my
priests indefinitely, but now--GOD's word, remember!--there is no way
this can continue. I honor those who honor me; those who scorn me I
demean. (31) "Be well warned: It won't be long before I wipe out both
your family and your future family. No one in your family will make it
to old age! (32) You'll see good things that I'm doing in Israel, but
you'll see it and weep, for no one in your family will live to enjoy
it. (33) I will leave one person to serve at my altar, but it will be a
hard life, with many tears. Everyone else in your family will die
before their time. (34) What happens to your two sons, Hophni and
Phinehas, will be the proof: Both will die the same day. (35) Then I'll
establish for myself a true priest. He'll do what I want him to do, be
what I want him to be. I'll make his position secure and he'll do his
work freely in the service of my anointed one. (36) Survivors from your
family will come to him begging for handouts, saying, 'Please, give me
some priest work, just enough to put some food on the table.'"
1 Samuel 2:34 KJV And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come
upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die
both of them.
Samuel’s birth and circumstances of his barren mother shows all
the carnality coming to an end and GOD STEPPING IN AND GENUINELY
MOVING.
The day came when BOTH SONS WOULD DIE.
Significant things happened that day.
THE DAY OF THE SIGN is very significant.
ELI even means LOFTY – (proud).
This was judgment predicted AGAIN by SAMUEL as a young boy.
1 Samuel 3:11-14 KJV And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a
thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it
shall tingle. (12) In that day I will perform against Eli all things
which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also
make an end. (13) For I have told him that I will judge his house for
ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made
themselves vile, and he restrained them not. (14) And therefore I have
sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not
be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
The day of judgment came.
1 Samuel 4:3-11 KJV And when the people were come into the camp, the
elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before
the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out
of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of
the hand of our enemies. (4) So the people sent to Shiloh, that they
might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts,
which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni
and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of
God. (5) And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the
camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang
again. (6) And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they
said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the
Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the
camp. (7) And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come
into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such
a thing heretofore. (8) Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the
hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians
with all the plagues in the wilderness. (9) Be strong, and quit
yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the
Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.
(10) And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled
every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for
there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen. (11) And the ark of God
was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.
A RELIGIOUS spirit can involve a SHOUT.
· But an empty one.
· God did not honour their fleshly ideas of conquering
Philistia.
· David would always consult God as to what to do in battle.
· Hophni and Phinehas come up with the great idea of fetching
the Ark on their own.
· They shouted and it was empty.
1 Samuel 5:1-7 KJV And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought
it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod. (2) When the Philistines took the ark of
God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. (3)
And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow,
behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of
the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. (4) And
when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen
upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of
Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold;
only the stump of Dagon was left to him. (5) Therefore neither the
priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the
threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. (6) But the hand of the
LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote
them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. (7) And when the
men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of
Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon
Dagon our god.
The OLD ORDER of things proposes a fleshly kingdom of God.
· After the Ark was taken, dashing the hopes of Israel’s
OLD ORDER, it went deep into Philistia’s kingdom into the very
temple of its false god dagon!
· There after three days it destroyed the idol.
· Jesus was not concerned over Rome’s Caesar, but the
world’s false god, satan.
· He conquered SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS and kings.
When the Ark returned to Israel years later in David’s time,
David took it to ZION.
2 Samuel 6:17 KJV And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it
in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for
it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the
LORD.
Setting it IN HIS PLACE indicates that this was the WILL OF GOD!
· Where the Ark Belonged.
This tabernacle had NO VEIL, NO CANDLESTICKS, NO ALTAR, NO TABLE OF
SHOWBREAD, NO OUTER COURT, NO HOLY PLACE.
· Just an opened holiest of holies.
2 Samuel 6:14 KJV And David danced before the LORD with all his might;
and David was girded with a linen ephod.
The OLD ORDER had some remnants left around Jerusalem.
· Saul’s daughter.
2 Samuel 6:20-23 KJV Then David returned to bless his household. And
Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How
glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in
the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows
shamelessly uncovereth himself! (21) And David said unto Michal, It was
before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his
house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel:
therefore will I play before the LORD. (22) And I will yet be more vile
than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants
which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. (23)
Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her
death.
She was BARREN with no children, and this fleshly order daughter of
Saul despised the NEW ORDER OF VIBRANT PRAISE AND DANCE.
While David had the ark at Zion, the Tabernacle of Moses carried on
without the glory in its dead dryness.
1 Chronicles 16:37-42 KJV (37) So he left there before the ark of the
covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark
continually, as every day's work required: (38) And Obededom with their
brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and
Hosah to be porters: (39) And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the
priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was
at Gibeon, (40) To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar
of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do
according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he
commanded Israel; (41) And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest
that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the
LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever; (42) And with them Heman and
Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound,
and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were
porters.
2 Chronicles 1:3-4 KJV So Solomon, and all the congregation with him,
went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle
of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had
made in the wilderness. (4) But the ark of God had David brought up
from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he
had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
TWO TABERNACLES!
Zadok would offer morning and evening sacrifices at Moses’
tabernacle.
But look at David’s:
It was like the holiest was removed to ZION.
Sacrifices were offered once when the Tabernacle of David was
dedicated.
· THEN NEVER AGAIN!
· JUST SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES.
Samuel started MUSIC in his ministry.
1 Samuel 10:5-6 KJV After that thou shalt come to the hill of God,
where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass,
when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company
of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a
tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
(6) And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt
prophesy with
them, and shalt be turned into another man.
THIS WENT TO DAVID IN THE NEW TABERNACLE.
A FEW instruments at Moses’ tabernacle. Notice the FEW names
dedicated to music.
1 Chronicles 16:42 KJV And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets
and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical
instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
LOTS of music at ZION.
Look at the MANY names dedicated to music.
1 Chronicles 15:16-24 KJV (16) And David spake to the chief of the
Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of
musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the
voice with joy. (17) So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel;
and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of
Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; (18) And with them
their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and
Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah,
and
Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the
porters. (19) So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed
to sound with cymbals of brass; (20) And Zechariah, and Aziel, and
Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and
Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth; (21) And Mattithiah, and
Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with
harps on the Sheminith to excel. (22) And Chenaniah, chief of the
Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was
skilful. (23) And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
(24) And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the
trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were
doorkeepers for the ark.
What a contrast.
1 Chronicles 23:5 KJV Moreover four thousand were porters; and four
thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said
David, to praise therewith.
1 Chronicles 25:1-7 KJV (1) Moreover David and the captains of the host
separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of
Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with
cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:
(2) Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and
Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied
according to the order of the king. (3) Of Jeduthun: the sons of
Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah,
six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a
harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. (4) Of Heman: the sons of
Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah,
Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi,
Hothir, and Mahazioth: (5) All these were the sons of Heman the king's
seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman
fourteen sons and three daughters. (6) All these were under the hands
of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according
to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. (7) So the number of
them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the
LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.
MANY BEFORE THE ARK:
1 Chronicles 16:37 KJV So he left there before the ark of the covenant
of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark
continually, as every day's work required:
Only HIGH PRIEST at Moses’ tabernacle.
DAVIDS: 1 Chronicles 16:4 KJV And he appointed certain of the Levites
to minister before the ark of the LORD, and
to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
RECORDING. Write songs.
THANKING.\\No such thing at Moses’
PRAISING.
PSALM SINGING: 1 Chronicles 16:7 KJV Then on that day David delivered
first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his
brethren.
CLAPPING: Psalms 47:1 KJV To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons
of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the
voice of triumph.
NO CLAPPING at Moses’.
SHOUTING: 1 Chronicles 15:28 KJV Thus all Israel brought up the ark of
the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and
with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a
noise with psalteries and harps.
LIFTING HANDS: Psalms 134:1-3 KJV A Song of degrees. Behold, bless ye
the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the
house of the LORD. (2) Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless
the LORD. (3) The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of
Zion.
CLOSE BEFORE HIM : 1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV Give unto the LORD the glory
due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the
LORD in the beauty of holiness.
MOSES’ was afar off.
SEEKING GOD: 1 Chronicles 16:10-11 KJV (10) Glory ye in his holy name:
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. (11) Seek the LORD
and his strength, seek his face continually.
Seek tabernacle at Moses’.
SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES: Psalms 27:6 KJV And now shall mine head be lifted
up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his
tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises
unto the LORD.
Animals at Moses’ Tabernacle.
AMENS hollered for blessings: 1 Chronicles 16:36 KJV Blessed be the
LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen,
and praised the LORD.
At Moses’ AMENS for curses: Deuteronomy 27:15 KJV Cursed be the
man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the
LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a
secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
NO AMENS in Deut 28 for blessings!
Moses had silent order of worship and solemnity.
David’s order was shouting clapping and dancing.
