PRINCIPLES OF THE KINGDOM: SPIRITUALITY AND NOT FLESHLINESS

  Scripture Text:

Galatians 5:16-17 KJV  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  (17)  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

THE OLD ORDER of fleshliness and religion will battle against the NEW ORDER.
·    God had to have an OLD COVENANT or TESTAMENT before the NEW TESTAMENT would come.
·    The Old Testament is a set of FLESHLY ORDINANCES.

Hebrews 9:10 KJV  Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Hebrews 9:13-14 KJV  For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:  (14)  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The only way God could lead the human race UP TO the NEW ORDER is to have a FLESHLY ONE that is full of patterns of the REALITY of the NEW.
·    It’s like Jesus using familiar FARM PICTURES in his parables to help people understand the ways of the SPIRITUAL KINGDOM through a natural example.
·    He just could not talk about spiritual things, since they could not move from fleshly ways of thinking directly into spiritual ways.
·    So he used fleshly examples to show spiritual truths.

It’s also why you cannot put NEW WINE into OLD BOTTLES.
·    The OLD BOTTLE is the fleshly way of thinking.
·    Put the NEW SPIRIT into the OLD BOTTLE and the bottle breaks.
·    It’s like feeding meat to a baby.
·    Babies have to eat milk before MEAT.

PENINNAH stands for our fleshliness which is always productive.
·    We have no problem with ability to use the flesh.
·    We’ve been born with it while our spirits were inactive in sin.
·    Our spirits are BORN OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD when we are born again.

Sarah was like Hannah.
·    The favoured one who was BARREN.
·    Rebekah could not have children.
·    Rachel could not have children.

Genesis 11:30 KJV  But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

Genesis 25:21 KJV  And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Genesis 29:30-31 KJV  And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.  (31)  And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are considered the FATHERS of Israel.
·    Each of their wives were BARREN!
·    Natural life was unable to produce what God wanted.
·    AND God supernaturally gave life to these women to bear.
·    THIS IS HOW THE NEW ORDER OPERATES.
·    SPIRIT EMPOWERMENT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.
·    Flesh cannot produce what God wants.
·    The OLD ORDER is the order of FLESH trying to produce what God wants.
·    That is not the place of flesh.
·    Flesh is supposed to be a vessel alone, BUT NOT THE SOURCE OF POWER.
·    Flesh is to be a branch, wife, servant.
·    BUT NOT THE VINE, HUSBAND or MASTER.

All of our lives are too fleshly when we begin serving the Lord.
·    And our Christianity will be too fleshly when we start.
·    So the process occurs to bring in the SPIRITUAL KINGDOM.

If KINGS have KINGDOMS, then what do JUDGES have?
·    Judges DEPICT JUDGMENT.
·    No wonder the time of JUDGES was full of anarchy.
·    No wonder after the judges came a STORY that corresponds to the DAY OF PENTECOST when the SPIRIT OF GOD CAME so that a KINGDOM WOULD OCCUR LATER!
·    JUDGES depict the OLD ORDER of simply commanding the FLESH TO DO GOOD, but finding that the flesh cannot do good.
·    WE NEED THE SPIRIT!
·    So, RUTH’s  story comes in with PENTECOST.
·    A certain FLESHLY PEOPLE are not even the focus any more because a GENTILE CAN GET IN ON THIS WITH THE JEWS NOW!
·    In fact, THIS GENTILE WOMAN BECOMES A JEW!
·    Sounds like what the baptism of the Spirit does!

And Hannah is persecuted by Peninnah who mocks her because of her lack of children.
·    The works of the flesh abound far more than the fruit of the SPIRIT!
·    The ONLY WAY our HOMES can have FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, is for the SPIRITUAL PART OF OUR LIVES (HANNAH) reaches out and contacts GOD!

ELKANAH’s name means GOD HAS OBTAINED.
·    This is a saved person.
·    God obtained us and we are saved.
·    But we are so immersed in fleshliness that we mistakenly let flesh lead us in our lives for the Lord!
·    AND IT FAILS.
·    Finally, OUR SPIRITS REACH OUT.

1 Samuel 1:9-11 CEV  When the sacrifice had been offered, and they had eaten the meal, Hannah got up and went to pray. Eli was sitting in his chair near the door to the place of worship.  (10)  Hannah was brokenhearted and was crying as she prayed,  (11)  "LORD All-Powerful, I am your servant, but I am so miserable! Please let me have a son. I will give him to you for as long as he lives, and his hair will never be cut."

Paul taught that we can be saved, BUT UNTIL WE PRESENT OURSELVES TO GOD AS ALIVE FROM THE DEAD, we will not accomplish anything in the KINGDOM.
·    Not allowing flesh to lead us any more is indication of properly knowing we died with Christ.
·    Hannah gives herself as God’s servant.
·    This is Yielding ourselves as instruments of God’s righteousness.
·    Flesh is now where it should be.

1 Samuel 1:12-15 KJV  And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.  (13)  Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.  (14)  And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.  (15)  And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

ELI was so lacking of discernment that he could not tell Hannah was seeking God!
·    This is the OLD ORDER.
·    No sooner had Hannah gotten victory over Penninah’s situation by seeking God, when the OLD ORDER pops up again in clashing with her through ELI.

SAMUEL means HEARD OF GOD.
·    God heard Hannah’s prayer.
·    He answered.

1 Samuel 1:24-28 KJV  And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.  (25)  And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.  (26)  And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.  (27)  For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:  (28)  Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

Samuel is in the house of God as the NEW ORDER of priests.

1 Samuel 3:1-3 KJV  And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.  (2)  And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;  (3)  And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

No word from God.
·    No open vision.
·    Eli’s eyes dull.
·    Lamp of God gone out in tabernacle.
·    GOD SDEAKS TO SAMUEL.

1 Samuel 3:4-9 KJV  That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.  (5)  And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.  (6)  And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.  (7)  Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.  (8)  And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.  (9)  Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

Eli did not get what God was doing until the third time.

1 Samuel 4:3-11 KJV  And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.  (4)  So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.  (5)  And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.  (6)  And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.  (7)  And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.  (8)  Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.  (9)  Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.  (10)  And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.  (11)  And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

A RELIGIOUS spirit can involve a SHOUT.
·    But an empty one.
·    God did not honour their fleshly ideas of conquering Philistia.
·    David would always consult God as to what to do in battle.
·    Hophni and Phinehas come up with the great idea of fetching the Ark on their own.
·    They shouted and it was empty.

The OLD ORDER of things proposes a fleshly kingdom of God.
·    After the Ark was taken, dashing the hopes of Israel’s OLD ORDER, it went deep into Philistia’s kingdom into the very temple of its false god dagon!
·    There after three days it destroyed the idol.
·    Jesus was not concerned over Rome’s Caesar, but the world’s false god, satan.
·    He conquered SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS and kings.

When the Ark returned to Israel years later in David’s time, David took it to ZION.

2 Samuel 6:17 KJV  And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

This tabernacle had NO VEIL, NO CANDLESTICKS, NO ALTAR, NO TABLE OF SHOWBREAD, NO OUTER COURT, NO HOLY PLACE.
·    Just an opened holiest of holies.

2 Samuel 6:14 KJV  And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

The OLD ORDER had some remnants left around Jerusalem.
·    Saul’s daughter.

2 Samuel 6:20-23 KJV  Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!  (21)  And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.  (22)  And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.  (23)  Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

She was BARREN with no children, and this fleshly order daughter of Saul despised the NEW ORDER OF VIRBANT PRAISE AND DANCE.

While David had the ark at Zion, the Tabernacle of Moses carried on without the glory in its dead dryness.

1 Chronicles 16:37-42 KJV  (37)  So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:  (38)  And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:  (39)  And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,  (40)  To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;  (41)  And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;  (42)  And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

2 Chronicles 1:3-4 KJV  So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.  (4)  But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

TWO TABERNACLES!

Zadok would offer morning and evening sacrifices at Moses’ tabernacle.

But look at David’s:

It was like the holiest was removed to ZION.

Sacrifices were offered once when the Tabernacle of David was dedicated.
·    THEN NEVER AGAIN!
·    JUST SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES.

Samuel started MUSIC in his ministry.

1 Samuel 10:5-6 KJV  After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:  (6)  And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

THIS WENT TO DAVID IN THE NEW TABERNACLE.

A FEW instruments at Moses’

1 Chronicles 16:42 KJV  And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

LOTS of music at ZION.

1 Chronicles 15:16-24 KJV  (16)  And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.  (17)  So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;  (18)  And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.  (19)  So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;  (20)  And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;  (21)  And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.  (22)  And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.  (23)  And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.  (24)  And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

What a contrast.

1 Chronicles 23:5 KJV  Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

1 Chronicles 25:1-7 KJV  (1)  Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:  (2)  Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.  (3)  Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.  (4)  Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth:  (5)  All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.  (6)  All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.  (7)  So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

MANY BEFORE THE ARK:

1 Chronicles 16:37 KJV  So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:

Only HIGH PRIEST at Moses’ tabernacle.

DAVIDS:  1 Chronicles 16:4 KJV  And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

RECORDING.  Write songs.
THANKING.\\No such thing at Moses’
PRAISING.

PSALM SINGING:  1 Chronicles 16:7 KJV  Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

CLAPPING:  Psalms 47:1 KJV  To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

NO CLAPPING at Moses’.

SHOUTING:  1 Chronicles 15:28 KJV  Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

LIFTING HANDS:  Psalms 134:1-3 KJV  A Song of degrees. Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.  (2)  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.  (3)  The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

CLOSE BEFORE HIM :  1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

MOSES’ was afar off.

SEEKING GOD:  1 Chronicles 16:10-11 KJV  (10)  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.  (11)  Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Seek tabernacle at Moses’.

SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES: Psalms 27:6 KJV  And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Animals at Moses’

AMENS hollered for blessings:  1 Chronicles 16:36 KJV  Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

At Moses’ AMENS for curses:  Deuteronomy 27:15 KJV  Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

NO AMENS in Deut 28 for blessings!

Moses had silent order of worship and solemnity.

David’s order was shouting clapping and dancing.
