Leviticus
9:7-8 Complete Apostles' Bible (7) And Moses said to Aaron,
Draw near to the altar, and offer your sin-offering, and your whole
burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself, and for your house;
and offer the gifts of the people, and make atonement for them, as the
Lord commanded Moses. (8) And Aaron drew near to the altar,
and killed the calf of his sin-offering.
Leviticus 9:22-24 Complete Apostles' Bible (22) And Aaron
lifted up his hands on the people and blessed them; and after he had
offered the sin-offering, and the whole burnt offerings, and the
peace-offerings, he came down. (23) And Moses and Aaron
entered into the tabernacle of witness. And they came out and blessed
all the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the
people. (24) And fire came forth from the Lord, and
devoured the offerings on the altar, both the whole burnt offerings and
the fat; and all the people saw, and were amazed, and fell upon their
faces.
His Sacrifice Caused Us to Share All His Ministries And Power
Fire would fall on a sacrifice to indicate it was acceptable to God.
1Kin 18:24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will
call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let
him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
1Kin 18:38-39 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed
the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and
licked up the water that [was] in the trench. And when all the people
saw [it], they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he [is]
the God; the LORD, he [is] the God.
Elijah put twelve barrels of water on that sacrifice.
- When
Elijah poured water all over the sacrifice, it was proving that there
would be no natural means to cause the fire as though it was faked.
1Chr
21:26 And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and
offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD;
and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt
offering.
Peter preached on the day of Pentecost saying that the reason the
Spirit was poured out upon the 120 was because Jesus sat on the right
hand throne.
Acts 2:30-33 Complete Apostles' Bible (30) "Therefore,
being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him
that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise
up the Christ to seat Him on his throne, (31) foreseeing
this, he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was
not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption." (32)
"This Jesus God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses."
(33) "Therefore having being exalted to the right hand of God,
and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He
poured out this which you now see and hear.
Peter quoted Psalm 110.
Psalms 110:1-2 Complete Apostles' Bible (1) A Psalm of
David. The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make
Your enemies Your footstool. (2) The Lord shall send out
the rod of Your strength out of Zion; rule in the midst of Your enemies!
So, Peter said that the SPIRIT was poured out BECAUSE Jesus sat on the
right hand.
Hebrews teaches us that the REASON Psalm 110 says Jesus sat on the
right hand was as follows:
Hebrews 10:11-14 Complete Apostles' Bible (11) And every
priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same
sacrifices, which are never able to take away sins. (12)
But He Himself, having offered one sacrifice for sins forever, He sat
down at the right hand of God, (13) from that time waiting
till His enemies are placed as a footstool for His feet.
(14) For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are
being sanctified.
He SAT DOWN on that right hand because he offered a sacrifice that
TAKES AWAY SINS.
- Until a
sacrifice was given that took away sins, they stood daily.
- Never
sitting down.
- There were
no chairs in the Temple and Tabernacle, except the mercyseat on the
Ark, and none of them ever sat on that seat!
So the reason He sat down in Psalm 110 was because HE MADE A SINGLE
OFFERING that completed the entire ordeal over sin.
- By one
offering he perfected forever them that are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14 Complete Apostles' Bible (14) For by one
offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Even when the fire fell on the sacrifice in the Old Testament, the job
was still not done.
- It was as
good as could be done back then before the cross.
- So fire
showed God’s acceptance of the sacrifice.
- God was
satisfied TO A DEGREE, as much as could be expected.
One time priests offered UNACCEPTABLE sacrifices, and look what
happened.
Levi 10:1-2 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of
them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and
offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.
And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they
died before the LORD.
Fire fell ON THEM and killed them!
Moses explained the order for making atonement.
Look at the description of the high priest’s garments:
Exodus 28:33-35 KJV And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt
make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about
the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
(34) A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a
pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about. (35) And
it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when
he goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh
out, that he die not.
But look at THE CHANGE he had to make to enter the holiest.
Leviticus 16:1-4 Complete Apostles' Bible (1) And the Lord
spoke to Moses after the two sons of Aaron died in bringing strange
fire before the Lord, so they died. (2) And the Lord said
to Moses, Speak to Aaron your brother, and let him not come in at all
times into the holy place within the veil before the mercy seat, which
is upon the ark of the testimony, and he shall not die; for I will
appear in a cloud on the mercy seat. (3) Thus shall Aaron
enter into the holy place: with a calf of the herd for a sin-offering,
and having a ram for a whole burnt offering. (4) And he
shall put on the consecrated linen tunic, and he shall have on his
flesh the linen drawers, and shall gird himself with a linen sash, and
shall put on the linen cap, they are holy garments; and he shall bathe
all his body in water, and shall put them on.
Notice HE ONLY COULD WEAR LINEN – WHITE… no gold, blue,
purple or scarlet.
- The BELLS
came off with the robes he wore that were not made of WHITE LINEN.
- The idea
of a rope tied to his feet to pull him out when they could not hear the
bells ringing from his walking around alive in the most holy place IS
WRONG.
- He could
not wear the bells in the most holy place.
After he was done offering atonement, he then went back out and changed
his clothing and put on the colourful robes with bells.
Leviticus 16:23-24 KJV And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle
of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put
on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
(24) And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place,
and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering,
and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for
himself, and for the people.
Lev 9: (24) And fire came forth from the Lord, and devoured
the offerings on the altar, both the whole burnt offerings and the fat;
and all the people saw, and were amazed, and fell upon their faces.
Those high priests never sat down.
- But look
what was prophesied of Jesus.
Zechariah 6:11-15 Complete Apostles' Bible (11) And you
shall take silver and gold, and make crowns, and you shall put them
upon the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest;
(12) and you shall say to him, Thus says the Lord Almighty;
Behold the man whose name is the Branch; and He shall spring up from
His stem, and build the house of the Lord. (13) And He
shall receive power, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and there
shall be a priest on His right hand, and a peaceable counsel shall be
between them both. (14) And the crown shall be to them that
wait patiently, and to the useful men of the captivity, and to them
that have known it, and for the favor of the son of Zephaniah, and for
a psalm in the house of the Lord. (15) And they that are
far from them shall come and build in the house of the Lord, and you
shall know that the Lord Almighty has sent Me to you: and this shall
come to pass, if you will diligently heed the voice of the Lord your
God.
JOSHUA is actually the name of JESUS in Hebrew.
- And we
have a man named JOSHUA as HIGH PRIEST, who represented JESUS THE HIGH
PRIEST.
- And this
HIGH PRIEST would BUILD A TEMPLE, make a sacrifice and atonement and
SIT ON THE RIGHT HAND THRONE!
No other HIGH PRIEST EVER DID THAT!
We know that sitting on the throne means CHRIST CONQUERED AND TAKES
RULERSHIP.
- So not
sitting on the throne and having to stand up all the time means NO ONE
CONQUERED AND TOOK DOMINION!
- What did
Christ conquer?
Revelation 5:1-2 KJV And I saw in the right hand of him that sat
on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with
seven seals. (2) And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with
a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals
thereof?
Revelation 5:5 KJV And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not:
behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath
prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
PREVAILED means HE FOUGHT A BATTLE AND WON.
Revelation 5:6 KJV And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the
throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a
Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are
the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
A lamb that had been slain that stands is a LAMB THAT CONQUERED DEATH
BY RESURRECTING FROM IT!
Revelation 5:9-10 KJV And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art
worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast
slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred,
and tongue, and people, and nation; (10) And hast made us
unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Not only IS HE KING AND PRIEST, but going to that throne MADE US KINGS
AND PRIESTS.
And while sacrifices had to be acceptable to God and perfect and
spotless in order for the fire to fall on it, we read He was the
sacrifice, BUT LOOK WHERE THE FIRE FELL.
Acts 2:3 KJV And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as
of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
We identified with the perfect sacrifice to such a degree that after HE
OFFERED HIMSELF AS SACRIFICE, THE FIRE OF ACCEPTANCE FELL UPON US!
Acts 2:33 KJV Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted,
and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he
hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Acts 2:33 said THE SPIRIT WAS POURED OUT BECAUSE JESUS SAT DOWN ON THE
RIGHT HAND THRONE.
- And Heb 10
said that Jesus sat DOWN on the right hand throne because He offered a
PERFECT SACRIFICE THAT ended any need for further work.
- While the
priests stand daily never offering a perfect sacrifice, Jesus offered
ONE and SAT DOWN ONCE AND FOR ALL.
- And
although the fire showed God’s acceptance in the Old Testament,
THIS NEW TESTAMENT sacrifice of Jesus was so much more powerful and
acceptable, that AFTER HE WAS OFFERED, and went into the throne room
and sat down (something the Old High Priest could never do), THE FIRE
OF ACCEPTANCE FELL ON THE 120!
- The same
people who got the Spirit because Jesus was ON THE THRONE!
If the Spirit came because He sat on the throne, and He could not sit
on the throne until a perfect offering was made, then the Spirit fell
because the perfect offering as acceptable.
And just as the people wondered and waited to see if Aaron offered an
acceptable sacrifice, waited to see if he would come out of that
holiest of holiest successfully, and change back into the colorful
priest’s robes and put those bells on again, and hear those
bells, THE PEOPLE SPOKE IN TONGUES.
- The hammer
inside the bell is called the TONGUE!
- And after
the priest left the holiest and put on the robe with bells, hearing
those TONGUES ring would tell everyone THE OFFERING WAS SUCCESSFUL!
- Well, not
only was He the OFFERING that was accepted, only to see the fire fall
on us instead of normally on the offering (showing we are acceptable
offerings), but He was the High Priest and the ringing of tongues that
normally would occur on the high priest robes WERE HEARD ON THE 120
speaking in TONGUES!
So with the fire falling on US instead of the sacrifice Jesus, we see
WE BECOME LIVING SACRIFICES, and the fire was on them while they were
alive and well!
Romans 12:1 KJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies
of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And with the TONGUES coming from us instead of the high priest’s
robes, WE BECOME PRIESTS.
And not only that, but Rev 5:0 says we became KINGS as well as PRIESTS!
When that atonement was made, those 120 believers were immediately made
LIVING SACRIFICES, PRIESTS WITH TONGUES as well as KINGS!
We became all the things Jesus was!
