  Scripture Text:

Psalms 110:1 KJV  <A Psalm of David.> The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

  Message:

The ark of the Covenant symbolizes the Kingdom Message of the New Testament Church age.
  • The ark's role in ATONEMENT, or at-one-ment, shows our union to the true atonement sacrifice, Jesus Christ.
  • He died, arose and sat on the right hand throne in Heaven.

The most oft-quoted Old Testament verse found in the New Testament is this:

The most important Symbol of the Old Testament was the ARK OF THE COVENANT, which represented Gpd's throne on earth, and was the object upon which God's presence dwelt and His VOICE spoke.

The ark represented this RIGHT HAND THRONE of God - and we showed how the "right hand"  simply means POWER.

We are AT ONE or IN UNION with Jesus who is seated on the right hand throne.

No wonder this Psalm 110:1 is the most quoted NT verse, and no wonder the Ark was the most important object in the Old Testament.
  • Spiritually speaking, these two ideas portray the KINGDOM OF GOD into which you and I have been born again to rule and reign.

Watch tonight how prophecies associated with the ark of the covenant and the throne of God that the ark represents together show a powerful message about your position in the Kingdom and what God expects of us in this world.

Isaiah 6:1-4 KJV  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.  (2)  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.  (3)  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.  (4)  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Last week we proved the seraphims of Isaiah 6 were the cherubims of Ezekiel's prophecy.

Let us Return to Ezekiel and watch how Ezek 1 gets involved in all of this.

Ezekiel 1:5-16 KJV  Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.  (6)  And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.  (7)  And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.  (8)  And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.  (9)  Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.  (10)  As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.  (11)  Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.  (12)  And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.  (13)  As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.  (14)  And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.  (15)  Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.  (16)  The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

Ezekiel 1:26-28 KJV  And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.  (27)  And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.  (28)  As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

THIS IS THE GLORY OF THE LORD!
  • Notice how Ezekiel summarizes all of that elaborate sighting of his as the GLORY OF THE LORD.
  • When you read of all the elaborate descriptions of the throne on sapphire firmament, over the heads of Cherubims who had eyes all over them and had faces of lion, ox, eagle and man, and were beside wheels within wheels -- all of that is called the GLORY OF THE LORD.

Notice it is similar to the ark.
  • A throne, and one sitting on it.
  • As people lifted the ark so it rose over their heads, the cherubims are under the throne.

Watch what happens to this glory through the next few chapters, focusing on the major events.

Ezekiel 10:1 KJV  Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

Ezekiel 10:4 KJV  Then the glory of the LORD (the title Ezekiel gave to this picture of a throne and God on it) went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD'S glory.

AT TEMPLE.

Ezekiel 10:18-20 KJV  Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.  (19)  And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.  (20)  This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar (What he saw here was the same GLORY he saw in Chapter 1); and I knew that they were the cherubims.

What he saw here was the same GLORY he saw in Chapter 1.

It continues...

11 speaks of men devising mischief in Israel.

Then:

Ezekiel 11:19-20 KJV  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:  (20)  That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

JUST AS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT where Jesus came, was rejected, men devised mischief, and A NEW COVENANT WOULD COME.
  • 1 Cor 3 talks of a heart of flesh so God can write his laws in our hearts.

Israel would MISS this new covenant where God puts a heart of flesh so we can keep His WORD!

Ezekiel 11:22-23 KJV  Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.  (23)  And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

FROM TEMPLE TO EAST MOUNTAIN.

What is so remarkable about this sequence of events is that it occurs JUST LIKE JESUS experienced a series of events with unbelieving Israel:

Matthew 24:1 KJV  And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

Matthew 24:3 KJV  And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

THE MOUNT OF OLIVES IS EAST OF THE CITY.

Ezekiel was seeing a series of events that Jesus would experience centuries later!

It all focuses on the KINGDOM CHAPTER of John 12 when John said Isaiah saw Jesus' glory!

EZEKIEL CALLED THE VISION OF THE THRONE AND CHERUBIMS THE GLORY OF GOD -- JESUS

Later, the same prophets continues...

Ezekiel 43:1-4 KJV  Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:  (2)  And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.  (3)  And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.  (4)  And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.

THE GLORY CAME BACK!

TO SAME EAST GATE.

Ezekiel 47:1 KJV  Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.

WATER ISSUE OUT just as GLORY ready to explode through door of temple and fill earth in Isa 6.

Ezekiel 47:12 KJV  And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

All of this corresponds to Isaiah's vision!
  • This glory Ezekiel saw was so similar to the appearance of the ark, as was Isaiah's vision of throne and serpahims with wings over it.
  • John said Isa saw Jesus glory.
  • Seraphim cried whole earth to be filled with Glory.

Isa saw the threshold shake because glory ready to burst out.

Ezekiel SAW IT COMING OUT!

ISAIAH SAW SOURCE.

Just as JOHN 12 showed Jesus ready to go to cross, rise and go to throne and pour out HOLY GHOST, Isaiah saw Jesus on throne ready to pour out glory.

Acts 1:5 KJV  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 1:8 KJV  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:2-4 KJV  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  (3)  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  (4)  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:33 KJV  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

The reason the SPIRIT poured out was because JESUS WENT TO THRONE.
  • The Throne Isaiah saw!
  • The River Ezekiel saw pour out!

Rev 22 pulls together Ezekiel 47 and Isa 6 in ONE VISION.

Revelation 22:1-2 KJV  And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.  (2)  In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

NOTE COMBINATION OF GOD AND LAMB on throne. - another picture of the ARK.

How did God provide atonement?
  • GOD BECAME MAN SO COULD DIE AS EACH HUMAN BEING.
  • GOD cannot die, so had to become human and humans die.
  • Only His human part died.
  • God did not die, though.
  • Because there was this HUMAN, we were able to become one with Him.
  • In his death.
  • His death in a humanity that we could relate to - and that could die -  was where we were drawn to Him in UNION.
  • As this sacrifice he is called a LAMB.

John 1:29 KJV  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

This lamb goes to throne and sits with Father on throne, and is representative of ALL WHO CAME TO BE AT ONE WITH HIM.
  • He represents all men.
  • So this representative LAMB with GOD on the throne is screaming out the entire concept of ATONEMENT.
  • It means all of us went to the throne!

If the lamb is with God, that means WE ARE WITH GOD!

And from that UNION comes a river of GLORY!

John spoke of that river and then put it into the here and now:

Revelation 22:17 KJV  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Jesus said it as well.

John 7:37-39 KJV  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.  (38)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  (39)  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The Holy Ghost in the earth is the WHOLE EARTH FILLED WITH HIS GLORY!

Recall Ezek saw river come from TEMPLE.

Revelation 21:22 KJV  And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

THERE IT IS AGAIN:  God AND the Lamb.

John said Isaiah saw THIS GLORY OF JESUS in Isa 6.
  • That glory was then ready to fill the earth.
  • So Holy Ghost outpouring is JESUS being poured out -- HIS GLORY.

John 16:13-14 KJV  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.  (14)  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
