How to Sup With Jesus

Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (21) To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (22) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 3 and Revelation 12 each mentions several of the same things in their writings.

When we read “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches,” we are meant to realize there is a revelation to grasp that one must be spiritual in order to grasp.

So let’s grasp something here.

Revelation 12:1-11 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (2) And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. (3) And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. (4) And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to
be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. (5) And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. (6) And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. (7) And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, (8) And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. (9) And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (10) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. (11) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

We read of OVERCOMING in both chapters.
We read of a THRONE in both chapters.
We read of Jesus seated on the throne of God the Father in both chapters.
We read of references to the BLOOD OF JESUS which are not so plain to see.
We read of how He overcame the devil and went to the throne in both chapters.
The church in Laodicaea that was lukewarm was not supping with Jesus.

Jesus spoke about communion supper with the wine of His blood and bread of His body to the disciples.

Matthew 26:26-29 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. (27) And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; (28) For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (29) But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Another way in which we know the Kingdom is a present spiritual kingdom, is by Christ’s words.
When Jesus ascended to the throne in Revelation 12, He OVERCAME THE DEVIL who tried to devour Him.

He overcame the devil and went to the throne.

Jesus then told the Laodicaeans to overcome as he did, so they could sit on the throne as He did.

We know that Jesus destroyed the devil by death.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Revelation 5 says Jesus stood as a lamb that had been slain, indicating the HE RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD.

Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, …

We read that He PREVAILED!

Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

That means he overcame. Prevailed. Won a war and a fight.

What is interesting is that Paul said we were raised together and already made to sit together with Jesus in Heavenly places.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

But Revelation shows Jesus speaking to a church of Christians telling them to overcome and by that means sit with Him in His throne.
And it has something to do with COMMUNION!

The supping in Rev 3 involved bread and wine, with the wine standing for Jesus’ blood.

The overcoming in Rev 12 involved overcoming by the BLOOD that the WINE represents.

Here’s the answer.

FEASTING or SUPPING on bread and wine refer to GRASPING BY REVELATION THE CROSS OF JESUS.
When we have communion it involves the symbolism of grasping the revelation of the truth that specifically deals with the dying of Jesus when His body broke in death and his blood shed in death.
Death was the greatest power the devil could ever use.
If everything goes wrong for you and you have no real victory, then you only have religion.
It’s not automatic.
This WITH JESUS concept is so important.
If you overcome, YOU WILL SIT WITH HIM.

We’re not really drinking wine with Him if we are discouraged and defeated a lot.
If you’re not motivated in faith and power, overcoming, then you’re not in the KINGDOM.
SUPPING in the middle east way back then was a very intimate thing with a very close friend.
John 6:4-14 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. (5) When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? (6) And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. (7) Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. (8) One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, (9) There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? (10) And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. (11) And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. (12) When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. (13) Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. (14) Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

This occurred before Jesus said these words:

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

John 6:53-54 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. (54) Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

So, the food being miraculously multiplied earlier represents the BODY OF JESUS BEING MIRACULOUSLY MULTIPLIED by so many people becoming saved.
Notice He said:

John 6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Then He later said:

John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

This means the BREAD THAT IS MULTIPLIED IS SPEAKING ABOUT US!

When Jesus gave them bread and wine and told them it was his body and blood, he was saying his death was their deaths.
So he multiplies by each person who receives this and gets baptized into his death.
When we eat of Jesus we LIVE OF HIM:

John 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

Adam was the first man and was told to MULTIPLY and FILL THE EARTH.
When you LIVE of Jesus, you are abounding with revelation and feasting from the truth of what His death and resurrection means for you.

You are not running on fleshly and natural life, and your own ideas and ways, but are living on His direction in you and how His Spirit leads. Overcoming by the blood is the same as supping with Jesus.

You will overcome when you get this victorious revelation.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
