GOOD TREASURES
AND EVIL TREASURES

Matt 7:15-23 Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs
of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt
tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit,
neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth
not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their
fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Luke says the same thing only
he uses the terms TREASURE in the heart, whereas Matthew said GOOD FRUIT COMES
FROM GOOD TREES.
Luke 6:45-46 A good man out of the
good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil
man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me,
Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
So GOOD TREASURE of the heart
is like GOOD FRUIT from a GOOD TREE.
- By their fruits you know
them.
Then Paul says....
2Cor 3:15 But even unto this day,
when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
Again the HEART IS THE ISSUE
HERE
2Cor 3:16 Nevertheless when it
shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Heart turns to the Lord
2Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is that
Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty.
The Lord to whom the heart turns
is "THAT SPIRIT" mentioned previously in the same chapter.
2Cor 3:18 But we all, with open
face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same
image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.
We behold that glory, that LIGHT
-- we have our hearts turned to HIM -- and are changed into the same IMAGE
as HE IS.
- JESUS IS THE EXPRESS IMAGE
OF GOD
Then Paul said:
2Cor 4:6 For God, who commanded
the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the
light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Repeats 3:18 but this time says
the light or the glory you read about in 3:18 is the LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE
OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST.
So the GLORY that changes us into the same image of God is LIGHT OF THE
KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD.
2Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
And Like, Jesus in Luke's Gospel,
Paul says this is a TREASURE inside us
GOOD TREASURES AND EVIL TREASURES
Matthew says there will be those
who say "Lord, Lord" and will not enter glory because they did not KNOW JESUS.
"I never knew you."
Before saying this Jesus said,
"A good tree cannot bring forth
evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. " He
speaks of trees and fruit.
- Luke shows the same conversation
and reads, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth
that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth
speaketh."
- So there is a treasure
of the heart which is like a tree's fruit
- In the heart is planted
a seed.
- The seed germinates and
produces fruit.
- The tree is known by its
fruit.
There have been two kinds of
trees since the foundation of the world.
- Tree of life.
- Tree of the knowledge of
good and evil.
You know what tree a person has
plucked fruit from by what comes out of the heart.
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the
good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil
man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Our words are the FRUIT.
- They indicate what tree
we have eaten from.
- For all of us have eaten
of one or the other of the two trees.
- Fruit grows from a tree.
- Genesis 1 said:
Gene 1:11 And God said, Let the
earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding
fruit
after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Fruit was distinctly said to
have SEED IN ITSELF.
And then we read...
Gene 3:1-2 Now the serpent was more
subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said
unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the
garden:
The woman pinpointed the situation
to the serpent, who was more vague, and said it was FRUIT they were not to
eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
- FRUIT.
- There is good reason God
took time to speak about FRUIT whose SEED IS IN ITSELF in Genesis 1:11.
- He was letting us know
that when Eve ate the FRUIT from the tree, she took a SEED into herself.
Gene 3:6 And when the woman saw
that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes,
and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit
thereof,
and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
When Adam ate the FRUIT, he took
a seed into himself.
- AND THIS SEED WAS NO ORDINARY
SEED.
- IT DID NOT GO INTO THE
STOMACH BUT INTO THE HEART OF THEM BOTH.
- And trees grow from seeds.
- And they produce the same
kind of trees that the fruit the seeds came from originate from.
- So the seed gets into the
heart and then it will produce the tree that will produce the fruit.
- So the heart receives a
seed.
Paul said the heart of a true
believer whose heart is truly turned to JESUS receives LIGHT or GLORY.
- He said God hath shined
in our hearts to give the LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE
FACE OF JESUS.
- And this light in our hearts
is called by Paul a TREASURE.
- As Jesus said "A good man
out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good,"
Paul said we have a TREASURE of the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD in our hearts.
- Not only did Paul's mention
of a TREASURE coincide with Jesus' words about the good treasure of the heart,
but Paul said it was a treasure of the KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD.
And Jesus spoke about "I NEVER KNEW YOU" to the ones who had a BAD TREASURE
of the heart.
- I WANT TO KNOW GOD.
- I WANT IN MY HEART THE
LIGHT OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD IN ME, in other words.
- If I have that TREASURE
IN ME, if my heart truly turned to Jesus, then out of the abundance of my
heart I will speak forth GOOD THINGS.
- My words will be FRUIT
from the good tree.
- There are only two trees.
- Life
- Knowledge of good and evil
For the same reason God cast
Adam and Eve from the Garden when they ate of the fruit of the knowledge
of good and evil, will Jesus say, "I NEVER KNEW YOU".
- THE OUTCASTS WILL BE THE
ONES WHOSE WORDS FROM THEIR MOUTHS WERE NOT FRUIT OF LIFE, BUT FRUIT OF THE
KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL.
- THEIR HEARTS RECEIVED THE
BAD SEED AS THEY ATE THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT, AND THEY GREW A LITTLE TREE IN THEM.
- LUKE CALLED IT A BAD TREASURE
OF THE HEART, MATTHEW SAID IT WAS AN EVIL TREE.
- AND THE TREE GREW AND EMITTED
A FRUIT IN THE FORM OF WORDS.
WORDS!!!!!
Words tell all.
- What you speak about tells
about your heart.
- From the abundance of the
heart the mouth speaketh.
God wanted Adam to multiply and
fill the earth.
- Then he told Adam to eat
from the fruit of Life and not the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.
- Well, we know now that
eating the fruit of Life would put a seed into Adam's heart.
- And Adam's heart would
produce a good tree.
- And that tree would bear
fruit.
- And the fruit would come
from His mouth in the form of WORDS.
- And those words would in
turn have seeds in them, to go into another person's heart and plant their
seeds in another heart and produce another tree in that other heart and so
on.
- So God, in reality, wanted
Adam to fill the earth with LIFE.
- Adam would have many children
and so on, and they would all eat that fruit of life and SPEAK FORTH LIFE
INTO THE WORLD
- The world was VOID at the
beginning.
- And God wanted Adam to
fill it.
- So he would SPEAK FORTH
GOOD FRUIT.
But Adam ate the evil fruit.
- He ate from the wrong tree.
- He received the evil seed.
- and HE SPOKE EVIL.
God asked Adam why he ate the
fruit, and Adam said the woman gave to him.
- God asked the woman why
she did that, and she said the serpent beguiled her.
- They became self-centred
and SPOKE IT.
- Accepted no blame.
What do you speak?
- What do you fill the world
around you with?
- Do you speak evil or do
you speak life?
- What pours from your mouth
and spreads seeds into others' hearts?
- What do you exude from
your heart?
Ephe 4:29-5:2 Let no corrupt communication
proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying,
that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit
of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness,
and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you,
with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving
one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Be ye therefore
followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath
loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God
for a sweetsmelling savour.
Notice: "Let no corrupt communication
proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying,
that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
- Your words can minister
GRACE to the hearers.
- What you say can minister
the same thing you received into your heart.
- We received GRACE when
we ate of the fruit of Life.
- We ate of the fruit of
life when we were saved.
- And we received GRACE.
- By grace we are saved.
- And we can grow a tree
in our hearts that will grow fruit with seeds in them.
- And those fruit are in
the form of WORDS.
- We minister GRACE to people
when we speak no corrupt thing, but that which is GOOD.
Verse 27 said:
- Ephe 4:27 Neither give place to
the devil.
Isn't
it interesting that Paul says give no place to the devil before he says we
should SPEAK good WORDS, that Jesus said are the fruit from the good treasure
of the heart.
For, a location where fruit from two different
trees was considered, became a PLACE for the devil, the serpent.
- If God dwells in the praises
of His people, the words that come from our mouths that give Him glory, do
you not think the DEVIL finds a PLACE in our midst when we speak corrupt communication
and bitterness, wrath, anger and clamour.
- The fruit of the knowledge
of good and evil is VERY RELIGIOUS LOOKING.
- GOOD AND EVIL.
- It had to be religious
if it was going to knock off the people of God in the Garden.
- But it makes the devil
come, because it makes you CONDEMN.
- It may look religious but
it is sickening, disgusting and putrid fruit from the knowledge of good and
evil.
- IT KILLS.
Paul spoke the difference between
what Adam brought to the world and what Christ brought to the world.
He delineates CONDEMNATION AND LIFE.
- Roma 5:18 Therefore as by the offence
of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness
of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life.
- Adam brought forth condemnation.
- This was obviously after
he ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.
- Jesus brought forth LIFE.
- TWO TREES.
It is one of two kinds of fruit.
Hebr 12:15 Looking diligently lest
any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;
Fall from grace and get the wrong
seed.
- BITTERNESS STARTS GROWING.
- How does it defile many?
- It is a plant from the
seed of the evil fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.
- And it enters your heart
and grows into plant, from a root, springing up and producing fruit of words
that others hear and are defiled with the mess of seeds in their hearts, too!
WHAT COMES FROM YOUR MOUTH?
- If we could see in the spirit,
spores of ungodly knowledge of god and evil are spitting out from too many
children of God.
- While good, clean seeds
of truth come from that glorify God from the mouths of true saints.
Paul said that we are to speak
not corrupt communication, but to speak....
Ephe 4:32-5:2 And be ye kind one to
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a
sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
WALK and TALK LOVE.
Don't come to condemn.
- Speak your words concerning
people based upon the TREE OF LIFE.
- Speak words that MINISTER
GRACE.
- Grace is forgetting people's
sins and acting as if they never occurred.
- That is what God ministered
to us.
- And if that is in us, we
will grow that seed and will bear fruit JUST LIKE THAT TO PEOPLE.
- Overlook people's faults.
How do you react when you see
a brother who sinned?
- SPEAK CONDEMNATION?
- OR SPEAK LIFE?
John 8:10-11 When Jesus had lifted
up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are
those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord.
And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
NOTICE CLOSELY:
John 3:17 For God sent not his
Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might
be saved.
When you condemn a person, you
are not helping them get saved.
- OVERLOOK THEIR FAULTS.
- Let God deal with them.
- Let the preaching minister
truths to them.
- BUT YOU DO NOT CONDEMN
THEM.
- YOU SPEAK LIFE TO THEM.
- Speak to brothers and sisters
based upon LIFE.
John 10:9-10 I am the door: by me
if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find
pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that
they might have [it] more abundantly.
- The serpent stole his way
into the Garden unlawfully.
- He came to kill.
- To give fruit from the
evil tree that kills.
- Jesus came to give life.
- And just as much as we
receive grace and minister to others in words, the people who receive the
seed that kills from the devil will speak forth words that kill to other
people.
The ones who criticize the people
in a church and eventually quit church are the ones who are filled with knowledge
of good and evil.
- It killed them.
- As mentioned previously,
who has never committed an error?
- No one but Jesus.
- So if you want to see me
do something wrong, keep looking. You'll eventually see it.
- People who are so sensitive
to anything anyone might do wrong are too full of the knowledge of good and
evil.
- And if you are filled with
knowledge of good and evil you will die and not be able to live for God.
Gene 2:17 But of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that
thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
But if you are filled with life,
you will talk not only about me, but you will talk to me, and when you talk,
you will minister GRACE TO ME, (how did Paul describe such words?:...) "good
to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers".
Hebr 9:14 How much more shall the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot
to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
A CONSCIENCE FILLED WITH DEAD
WORKS IS AN EVIL CONSCIENCE.
- KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL
IS A KNOWLEDGE OF WORKS.
- Get rid of the knowledge
of good and evil mentality and feast more upon fruit of life.
- HOW DO YOU GET YOUR EVIL
CONSCIENCE OF GOOD AND EVIL CLEANSED?
- BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
- THE BLOOD IS THE KEY TO
LIFE AND THE THOUGHT THAT GOD LOOKS BEYOND OUR SINS AND FORGIVES THEM AND
FORGETS THEM AS IF THEY NEVER OCCURRED.
- GET CONDEMNATION OUT AND
BLOOD OF JESUS IN.
- If you feel condemned all
the time, get as much of this preaching as you can get.
- Eat it up!
- So you can start speaking
forth FRUIT OF LIFE, instead of evil fruit.
When you see a fault, think life,
not good and evil.
- What would Jesus say if
He saw you commit a sin?
- Say what He would say.
- Jesus had a tree of life
inside Him.
- He spoke words of LIFE.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that
quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,
[they] are spirit, and [they] are life.
You will do one of two things
when you see a brother sin.
- CONDEMN.
- FORGIVE.
Jesus was being crucified.
- People mocked Him and cursed
Him.
- They stuck Him between
two common thieves as though He was as low.
- WHAT DID HE DO?
- WHAT DID HE SAY?
Luke 23:33-34 And when they were come
to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the
malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive
them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast
lots.
When you see a brother or sister
slip up or not live right, don't be "holier than thou" and speak words of
condemnation, but FORGIVE.
- Paul basically said, don't
condemn someone for thinking different than you, even if you are convinced
they are wrong.
- RECEIVE THEM.
- DO NOT JUDGE THEM.
Roma 14:1-5 Him that is weak
in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that
he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that
eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge
him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest another
man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be
holden up: for God is able to make him stand. One man esteemeth one day above
another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded
in his own mind.
If you want to get into the Garden,
you cannot have this condemnation in your heart.
- Jesus said, "I never knew
you, depart from me."
- They could not get in.
- If Adam was cast out for
having knowledge of good and evil in him, then no one is getting in who has
it.
- I NEVER KNEW YOU.
- What is knowing God.
1Joh 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love
one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God,
and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God;
for God is love.
- He that loveth not knoweth
not God.
- So when Jesus said I never
knew you, He said, "You did not love one another."
Knowing Jesus is eternal Life.
1Joh 5:20 And we know that the
Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him
that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God, and eternal life.
Knowledge of good and evil is
death.
Why did John write so much about
loving each other?
1Joh 5:13 These things have I written
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that
ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Don't hope until the last minute
at the door and realize the key to getting in was loving each other, while
you condemned everyone in your words of gossip and backbiting.
John wrote to us so we can KNOW
NOW.
1Joh 3:14 We know that we have
passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth
not [his] brother abideth in death.
1Joh 3:17-19 But whoso hath
this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels
[of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children,
let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And
hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before
him.
Packed in the midst of all this
clear tie-in with the Garden of Eden we read....
1Joh 2:26 These [things] have I
written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
1Joh 3:7 Little children, let
no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is
righteous.
Sounds like what the SERPENT
DID TO EVE BY GETTING HER TO EAT THE WRONG FRUIT.
Here is how you know what fruit
you have eaten.
Whatever seed is planted in you,
whatever fruit you feast on all the time, will grow in you and come out of
your mouth.
- Don't allow someone in your
house who spits out seeds of corruption and gossip.
2Joh 1:10-11 If there come any unto
you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into [your] house, neither
bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is
partaker of his evil deeds.
Paul said this gets into you,
the light of the knowledge of God, by turning your heart to Jesus.
People who do not love, no matter
how loud they worship, or how much they speak in tongues, did not turn their
hearts to JESUS.
