"CONSIDER IT DONE"

MICHAEL F BLUME

Roma 6:3-11   Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

To say, "Consider it done," is to use a form of expression.

We have been learning and speaking a lot about the death, burial and resurrection of the believer with Christ. Like a looming monster at the end of earth's journey, death stands ahead of mankind. Not only do we have to deal with DEATH, but we read that all people must also be JUDGED.

Thank God that He chose to do something about this.

Hebr 9:27-28  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Because it was appointed for all men to die and then be judged, Jesus came.

Furthermore, you were already judged, too.

Under Law, you had to work your way to righteousness. How can it be said that we are not under Law, if Law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? Satan planned his scheme ingeniously. God made a way for you to die and yet live.
John 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
We were already judged, too! He was judged for us.

Those who reject Jesus are those who feel they can face life on their own, and most do not even believe they will face judgment in the end.

Notice that these people at this judgment are judged according to their works. Those who rejected Jesus and thought they could run their own lives successfully, will have to face God and be judged by their works for they are still under law. We already learned that we cannot save ourselves, and we accepted Jesus' sacrifice. So far as judgment is concerned, CONSIDER IT DONE.

SO we are already dead, buried, resurrected and judged.

Read that last clause carefully! The death I had to face in the future became something I can CONSIDER AS DONE since I united to Jesus. But that is not all that we can consider as done. Sound stranger? We have been exerting faith and believing we already died, were buried and resurrected. Want healing? It is not so strange, because we exerted that so far as believing we died with Jesus.

That is the reason Peter said WE WERE HEALED, past tense.

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL WE CAN CONSIDER AS BEING DONE.

1Joh 4:1-4  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

After speaking about antichrists we shall face in this world, John said, WE HAVE OVERCOME THEM.

If Stan reminds you of your past life of in, you turn around and remind him of your past, too. You are linked to Jesus. HOw can we be of good cheer upon hearing of tribulations we shall suffer, just because Jesus overcame the world? We are not GOING TO OVERCOME. "Through Christ" means that His experience has been made my own to such an extent that I can say I DIED ON THE CROSS.

That is what prayer "IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST" is all about.

Worried about DEATH TO COME? Worried about judgment? Worried about sickness Worried about overcoming?
