"CHERUBIMS IN THE VEIL"

Exod 26:31  And thou shalt make a vail [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made:

Matt 27:50-51   Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Hebr 10:19-20  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

There was a thought I have been wondering about for so long. We saw so much in the Word of God about the Tabernacle, how it ties in with the Garden of Eden. In our texts tonight, notice that Cherubims were sewn into the veil, the barrier, that stood before the Holiest of Holies.

The veil, upon which the cherubims were embroidered, was on the east side of the Most Holy Place.

So Ezekiel saw Cherubims at the east gate of the Lord's House.

They were always around the glory of God. The Church is IN CHRIST and OF CHRIST, as the cherubim were made OF the mercyseat and IN the mercyseat.

But here we see a veil with the pictures of cherubims sewn into it.

The veil is flesh.
  1. Adam had sin and could not eat.
  2. Those who overcome can eat.
Explanation? Read the following:

Roma 7:14-21  For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that [it is] good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Notice all the references to GOOD AND EVIL.

Sin dwelleth in Paul.

DEATH. Sounds a lot like:

God said we would die if we ate of the knowledge of good and evil.

Sin and death go hand in hand.

Devil will use religion Flesh has no good thing dwelling in it.

Now, Jesus' flesh was seen in the veil of the temple.

Adam could not go in because of his sin and the cherubims protecting the way. What could he do?

God would deliver him!

LIFE, LIFE, LIFE!!

Both speak about Jesus' death. That something is Jesus death. When Jesus died, He died to set you free. The Church is represented by the cherubim. He was the veil, the flesh that died.

I can imagine sin in my flesh like a flailing animal, screaming and retching, as God removes it from my life when I ask God to forgive me, when I take the opportunity of Christ's death and pray for forgiveness.

The WAY opened up for me to go to the Tree of Life, and I came THROUGH JESUS' DEATH.

Removing the veil so the way into the Most Holy is opened again, is explained here.

All you have to do is truly believe there is no way for you to come to God and have eternal life except the death of Jesus Christ in your place.

CHERUBIMS IN THE VEIL. John 6:26-29  Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

How do we get this LIFE?

Three deaf people were baptized after the ministry of this message.  Thank God for the deaf ministry  in our church that helps us speak the messages to the deaf people in our community!

"PROTECTING THE WAY OF LIFE"

Gene 3:24  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

It is important that we study "the way to the tree of life." The above verse informs us that there is some understanding in the picture of the cherubims overshadowing the mercyseat that we can know.

The Greek word that MERCY SEAT is translated from is:

2435 hilasterion {hil-as-tay'-ree-on}
AV - propitiation 1, mercyseat 1; 2

It is also translated in the KJV as PROPITIATION.

The word PROPITIATION in the above verses is the exact same word that was translated into mercy seat in Hebrews 9:5.

Mercy Seat. So the High Priest was chosen to go into the Most Holy Place in the temple, where nobody else could go, and offer the blood of the lamb. All of this was highly symbolic of the great work that God would do through Jesus Christ for the world, centuries later. You might  ask, "Why did Jesus have to die, if lambs could pay the price every year?" Now, the High Priest sprinkled the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant. When the High Priest sprinkled blood upon the Mercy Seat, God removed the sins of the people who waited outside the holy building for the work to be done. Sprinkling the mercy Seat removed the sins of the people. Now that we understand that, let us move on to the issue today. God has a message for us in this thought. With the idea that Jesus is the Mercy seat in mind, let us go back to the time God first told Moses to make the cherubims and the mercy seat. Exod 25:18-19  And thou shalt make two cherubims [of] gold, [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: [even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.
Roma 12:5  So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

1Cor 1:2  Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus...

1Cor 1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus,...

THE CHURCH is "in" Jesus Christ.

Ephe 5:29-30  For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

The Church is the BODY OF CHRIST.

The cherubims looked towards the mercy seat.

Jesus' blood!

The blood of Jesus was shed as our blood.

We are in Christ, and that means we are new creatures.

They are in the most holy place of the Temple where the Presence of God dwelt. Unless we are holy we cannot be in His presence.

Speaking of being IN CHRIST, we read that Jesus is made sanctification and righteousness for us.

Notice this about Cherubims.

Lest Adam take and eat of the fruit of Life and live forever, these cherubims were put in the Garden entrance to protect the way of the tree of life.

God allows people to eat of the tree of life if they overcome. What is the way?

When the cherubims looked and gazed at the Mercy Seat where the blood was, notice what else they did.

While their faces looked towards the blood, their wings covered the Mercy Seat. They covered the Mercy Seat. They protected the WAY of the tree of Life. His blood is eternal life. All Adam had to do was eat to have eternal life. Let us always PROTECT THE WAY. You are buried in Christ's death by water baptism.

His death is the way to leave Adam's messed up race, and enter Christ and be a cherubim IN HIM and OF HIM.

God wants you in His presence, so you are going to have get hold of eternal life.

The Blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ is what saves.

The race set before is one that we must finish. Your mind can faint and be made weary. Their gaze was intent.

Jesus' feet:

Its a holy WAY.

Looking diligently.

Look to Him.
