CONFIDENCE THE WORLD CAN'T GIVE

Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest,
that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast
our profession. (15) For we have not an high priest which
cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all
points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 10:22-23 Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (23) Let
us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is
faithful that promised;)
Confidence in your self is something many of us don’t have.
• Not having it tears some people up and hinders how they act around people and carry on in life.
• I’ve also seen people so timid to claim
their Christianity because they lack confidence in being able to serve
God.
• People see a flaw in themselves and have no confidence in themselves, so they hold back in serving God.
• They think they’re not good enough.
• They lose their profession or their confidence so easily.
But a true understanding of the gospel removes lack of confidence.
Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house
are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope
firm unto the end.
Hebrews 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
We read about the need to hold our confidence through to the end, and
not fail like Israel did in so many never entering the rest promised to
the in the form of the promised land.
• It gives us so many benefits for those who hold fast their confidence firm to the end.
• They will be part of the House of Christ.
• They will partake of Christ.
And then Hebrews explains the gospel and what it did for us, in order to GIVE US THIS CONFIDENCE!
Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the
ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying
of the flesh: (14) How much more shall the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
It explains how annual animal sacrifices only purified flesh.
Hebrews 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in
which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him
that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
They could not perfect the offerers.
• No confidence was provided.
Hebrews 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers
washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of
reformation.
A time of reformation was coming!
• God would reform the whole way of entering a covenant with Him.
• All these never ending rituals and washings
and carnal fleshly ordinances were imposed on Israel for 1,500 years.
• But the reformation would come when Jesus would open up the way.
Hebrews 9:7-8 But into the second went the high priest alone once
every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for
the errors of the people: (8) The Holy Ghost this
signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made
manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
The Holy Ghost was giving us a message when the one man alone could enter the holiest.
• While all of those unending rituals and annual sacrifices were in effect, YOU COULD NOT GET TO GOD.
Hebrews 9:19-21 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all
the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of
goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the
book, and all the people, (20) Saying, This is the blood of
the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. (21)
Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the
vessels of the ministry.
ALMOST all things were purged by blood.
• BUT NOT THE CONSCIENCE.
• When you get your conscience cleansed, you will have the confidence to come boldly before GOD!
• Christ would remove all the ritual an unending sacrifices.
• He would make a quick work of reformation that would take away 1,500 years of rituals.
• WITH ONE SINGLE SACRIFICE!
Hebrews 9:24-28 For Christ is not entered into the holy places
made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven
itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: (25)
Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth
into the holy place every year with blood of others; (26)
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:
but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin
by the sacrifice of himself. (27) And as it is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (28) So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come,
and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices
which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto
perfect.
If you could be completed, which is what perfect means here, you would have confidence!
Hebrews 10:2-5 For then would they not have ceased to be offered?
because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more
conscience of sins. (3) But in those sacrifices there is a
remembrance again made of sins every year. (4) For it is
not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away
sins. (5) Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he
saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou
prepared me:
Sins is the problem.
• People with no confidence are people who are SIN CONSCIOUS.
• Get that sin consciousness out of your head and you will have CONFIDENCE TO COME BEFORE GOD!
But think of triumph and victory and a power satan and all of hell out
together cannot begin to face, let alone challenge as you read these
words!
Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith,
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared
me:
Hebrews 10:6-7 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou
hast had no pleasure. (7) Then said I, Lo, I come (in the
volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Now he says something that goes back to what he wrote earlier:
Hebrews 10:8-9 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and
burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst
pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; (9) Then
said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first,
that he may establish the second.
Earlier he said so long as the first tabernacle with its rituals was in
effect, you could not get into the second, of the holiest of holies.
• So when the Psalm prophesied God had no
pleasure on sacrifices and PREPARED A BODY, and the Son of God
proclaiomed I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, not what you do not will,
Hebrews said HE TOOK AWAY THE FIRST in order to establish the second!
• And that goes back to this verse:
Hebrews 9:8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the
holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle
was yet standing:
So in other words he came to make a way into the SECOND!
• A way into the holiest!
• Feel the power of these words:
Hebrews 10:10-14 By the which will we are sanctified through the
offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (11) And
every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the
same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: (12) But
this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat
down on the right hand of God; (13) From henceforth
expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. (14) For
by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Verse 14 says HE PERFECTED or COMPLETED US for ever!
The first two verses said the annual offerings could not perfect anyone, or they’d stop being offered.
Hebrews 10:1-2 For the law having a shadow of good things to

That’s why HIS SINGLE offering PERFECTS US ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Hebrews 10:15-23 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us:
for after that he had said before, (16) This is the
covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I
will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write
them; (17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no
more. (18) Now where remission of these is, there is no
more offering for sin. (19) Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
(20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (21) And
having an high priest over the house of God; (22) Let us
draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with
pure water. (23) Let us hold fast the profession of our
faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
So, we read here the REASON we can come boldly.
• When Jeremiah wrote 31:31 IT WAS THE WITNESS OF THE HOLY GHOST!
• The very thing that makes you feel
inadequate… .SINS… the sin –consciousness that robs
you of boldness and confidence…. JESUS CHRIST DESTROYED!
• He suffered the pain that paid the price of PUNISHMENT we deserved.
• HIS DEATH paid the atonement price of sacrifice.
• What 1,500 years never did, Jesus did IN ONE DAY FOR 6 HOURS!
• And it was such a reformation that GOD FORGOT
SINS, and there was no more sacrifice bringing remembrance of sins
again!
• He ended endless rituals and washings and observances.
• You’ve got no reason to feel inadequate again!
• If 1,500 years of sacrifices and rituals and
good works never moved God, and ONE SINGLE SACRIRIFCE OF JESUS made Him
reform the whole approach to Him and open up his holiest place for you
to come to Him, COME BOLDLY!
• If it had anything to do with how good you
could perform, he would not have opened the way up long before you were
born, 2000 years ago when Christ died.
• He would have had to wait and open the holiest for you when you performed up to par.
• But he didn’t.
• He opened it up when Jesus DIED,
RESURRECTED AND ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN and made atonement, because
God doesn’t pay attention to having to see you perfect yourself
though good works, but looks only to Jesus and WHAT HE DID ON THE CROSS
and HIS resurrection!
• So let go of your sin consciousness you get from not learning properly about the gospel.
• AND GET THIS BOLDNESS, CONFIDENCE and PROFESSION, and NEVER LET IT GO.
Why would you have to let it go and release or lose it when HE PERFECT YOUR FOR EVER?
So once you know GOD LOOKS at Jesus’ sacrifice, and God FORGETS your iniquity, YOU COME BOLDLY!
