EAT RIGHT AND LIVE FOREVER

Job 23:12 Neither have I
gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of
his mouth more than my necessary food.
John 4:31-34 In the mean while his
disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have
meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another,
Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is
to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
People today our very particular about what foods they eat and what
diets they engage themselves in.
-
And that is good!
-
Eat right and live longer.
-
People are killing themselves with improper food.
-
Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Ghost.
However, there is a food that is even more important than our necessary
physical food.
Jesus said His meat was to do the will of God.
Food allows our bodies to survive.
-
We receive strength from food.
-
It maintains our health.
Let Jesus clarify what He meant by using the will of God as food.
John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The
Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do:
for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Notice this note about being unable to accomplish anything on his own human
self.
-
He requires the will of the Father.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do
nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment
is just; because I seek not mine own will,
but the will of the Father which hath sent
me.
He insisted that he could do nothing on his own.
What did He mean.
-
The will of the Father which was His food was involved.
Jesus as a man existed in the Kingdom of God.
-
And in order to continue to exist He had to do the will of God.
-
Obedience to the will of God is absolutely vital to the maintained existence
in the Kingdom of God.
The will of God being fulfilled in our lives sends God's strength into
our lives.
You know, you cannot just think to pray any prayer you want to make to
see any needs met that you want met.
-
God is not a pie in the sky.
-
He only hears you if you do His will!
Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in
my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
The will of God in your life being fulfilled and enabled will actually
make your prayers "listenable" by God!
People, you need to obey God's will.
-
You will not survive in the Kingdom of God without it.
Job set out to understand why he experienced the devastations in his life
during the period of which we read in his book.
-
He set out to pray and fast.
-
Instead of eating natural food, that was necessary, he set out to feed
upon another kind of food.
-
Instead of eating physical food, he prayed.
-
His prayers spoke to God that God might speak his will in return and feed
Job the meat that would help him survive spiritually.
Many believers give up on God and christianity when faced with trials.
-
The reason Job did not was because he received strength and sustenance
through the meat of receiving God's will.
John 6:27-29 Labour not
for the meat which perisheth, but for that
meat which endureth unto everlasting life,
which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works
of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that
ye believe on
him whom he hath sent.
The food these people sought for was the physical bread and fishes they
saw Jesus multiply.
-
But the Lord informed them they ought to seek spiritual meat more than
the material.
-
The spiritual food would make one live forever.
Eat right and live forever!
This food was the word of God they would eat and devour by believing.
There is much poisonous food in this world just as there is in the spiritual
realm.
-
There are poisonous doctrines and poisonous teachings of false prophets.
We need to ensure we eat the right spiritual food!
Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren
immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither
went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word
with all readiness of mind, and searched the
scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
The Bereans were careful with their spiritual diet.
-
And they were called noble by the inspired words of the Holy Ghost!
-
They did not seek to insult Paul, but they had to make sure he was speaking
truths of God, and the source for their confirmation was the scriptures.
People, do not even take what I say and just swallow it.
-
Search the Bible and confirm it there.
-
As those on diets take their food value booklets into the grocery stores
to ensure they do not obtain too many calories or too much bad cholesterol
into their systems when they eat the food they purchase, we need to line
everything we hear up with the Bible.
-
If it adds to the Bible or detracts from it, then it is poison!
-
If you want to live forever, you better eat right!
Sister Mean preached many years ago about the careful manner in which people
purchase their vehicles and clothing and food.
-
However, people are so careless in what religion they believe.
-
They do not even think to ensure it is truth.
-
Many care not if their Christianity aligns itself to the Bible.
-
Eat right and live forever!
-
It DOES matter what you believe.
John 6:47-51 Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
I am that bread of life.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the
bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not
die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat
of this bread, he
shall live for ever: and the bread that I
will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Jesus said His flesh and Blood were meat and drink.
-
They would render us with eternal life.
-
What did He mean?
Isaiah 42:6 I the LORD have called thee
in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give
thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
Jesus was foretold to actually be a covenant for people!
-
He was the word.
-
He was the laws.
-
Imagine it!
-
Instead of parchment and ink and lettering, He was the covenant, Himself.
Isaiah 55:1-3 Ho, every one that thirsteth,
come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat;
yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore
do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for
that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye
that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and
I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies
of David.
This make sit more clear.
-
Instead of food, and drink, that did not satisfy, God said His covenant
would make people live.
-
This is the spiritual food we must eat.
-
His teachings and words are as vital to our survival in the Kingdom of
God as physical food is in the physical world.
Notice the reference to the sure mercies of David.
What did that mean?
Acts 13:34 And as concerning
that he raised him up from the dead, now
no more to return to corruption, he said on
this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
The apostles were inspired to understand that as referring to the resurrection
of Jesus!
-
And this links with Jesus; reference to eating his flesh and drinking his
blood.
-
His flesh would be broken on the cross just as He broke the bread and multiplied
it, inciting the people to throng Him for more physical bread.
-
He desired them to seek Him for spiritual bread.
-
His broken flesh.
-
His shed blood.
-
His indication of the eating of His body and blood is explained further
in His last supper, where He noted His body would be broken in death and
HIs blood shed in death.
-
This all points to the cross.
-
We feed on these truths!
-
This food will make you live forever.
In other words, BELIEVE the Gospel truth that Jesus had to die and resurrect
for you in order for you to be freed from sin to gain eternal life.
-
The everlasting covenant is Jesus!
-
The sure mercies of David involve Jesus' resurrection from the dead!
Eat right and live forever!
Don't settle with doing your own will!
-
You will never survive in the Kingdom of God.
-
Your pride will kill your christianity!
-
Satan wanted to do his own will instead of God's will, and look how it
poisoned him.
-
Proud people who resist God's will are feasting on the death of Satan's
own poison!
-
Such are not feeding.
-
You'll spiritually starve to death.
-
THAT is why people backslide.
-
They lose interest in church and in prayer and in the Bible.
-
They are not eating and grow weaker.
Romans 4:19-20 And being not
weak in faith, he considered not his own body
now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness
of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise
of God through unbelief; but was strong
in faith, giving glory to God;
The promises of God can be overly heavy for some people.
-
They cannot bear them.
-
They're too much to believe.
-
However, Abraham was strong in faith.
-
He did not stagger beneath the load of such a great promise.
-
Howso?
-
He feasted on the meat of the word and gained strength to believe.
I read the book of Acts for the first time in its entirety in my teens,
and I was so filled with faith I felt like lifting buildings up all around
me with my little finger!
-
People, the Word of God is His will, and it feeds you like meat feeds muscles.
My uncle is a German butcher.
-
And as a child I asked dad how we get muscles, and he told me that meat
is animal muscle.
-
He told me the meat my uncle sold was animals' muscles.
-
You eat muscle and you get muscle.'
-
You eat fat and you get fat.
-
When Garbage goes in, then garbage is going to come out.
Faith is a muscle.
-
And the word is meat for your faith muscle.
You eat a good meal when you go on a long journey.
-
So did Jesus.
-
He was going on a journey into the depths of hell for us, to destroy the
devil who had the power of death.
Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be
willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine,
be done.
He swallowed the Father's will.
-
That cup was part of it.
-
But he had to drink it.
-
Had he not eaten that will of God, you and I would not be saved tonight.
-
We would not feel His presence.
-
We woudl not live forever!
That strengthened Him to die for us and go through the worst trial anyone
could imagine.
-
Christians weaken away and die spiritually because they refuse to eat the
meat of the Father's will.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they
which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Eat right and live forever!
