We receive everlasting LIFE of the SPIRIT when we drink of the river.
- Sure mercies of resurrection life.
- Resurrection life is “life that cannot die again”
life.
Genesis 29:10 KJV And it came to
pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother,
and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and
rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban
his mother's brother.
A stone had to be rolled away from the wells’ mouth, like the
stone over Christ’s tomb that was rolled to indicate RESURRECTION.
Matthew 28:2-6 KJV And, behold,
there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from
heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon
it. (3) His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment
white as snow: (4) And for fear of him the keepers did
shake, and became as dead men. (5) And the angel answered
and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus,
which was crucified. (6) He is not here: for he is risen,
as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
The resurrection OPENED A WELL OF RESURRECTION LIFE in the River.
- Just as Christ was resurrected by the Spirit, and sent forth that
same Spirit to us.
- Even the possibility of sending forth the Spirit to us required
His resurrection and ascension to the Father.
- And by drinking it, we obtain sure mercies of David.
- It was mercy God that saved us from sin, when He did not have to.
- Man sinned and left the Garden, but MERCY moved Him to return us
to life and kingdom.
- And this mercy is everlasting since DEATH CANNOT DESTROY US AGAIN.
He experienced SURE MERCIES OF DAVID in His resurrection.
- And His resurrection life is associated with the stone rolled
away from the tomb.
- Just as the stone rolled away to show resurrection life, and how
His resurrection caused Him to ascend to the Throne to SHED FORTH a
river of resurrection life to us,…
- Jacob rolled away a stone from a well in order to let forth
water to FEED the FLOCK.
- Jesus is the good shepherd leading us to waters to drink from.
Revelation 7:16-17 KJV They shall
hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on
them, nor any heat. (17) For the Lamb which is in the midst
of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living
fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
John 4:13-14 KJV Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever
drinketh of this water shall thirst again: (14) But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life.
Both accounts show the same thing.
- The Spirit is the River of Life, and we drink because of the Lamb
who is risen.
- And we never thirst again.
- There is the idea of something everlasting, just as SURE mercies
carries that idea.
- And everlasting covenant is associated with the sure mercies of
David in Isa 55 anyway.
Isaiah 55:3 KJV Incline your ear,
and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an
everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
