Ephesians 1:15-22 Complete Apostles' Bible  (15)  Because of this I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,  (16)  do not cease to give thanks concerning you, making mention of you in my prayers:  (17)  that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,  (18)  the eyes of your heart having been enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,  (19)  and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power  (20)  which He worked in Christ, having raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,  (21)  above every ruler and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the coming age.  (22)  And He subjected all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

The Complete Apostles' Bible  uses the Septuagint, which the apostles and Jesus had in their day.  It was the Greek Old Testament.  And the New Testament is from the Majority Text, the Textus Receptus, from which the King James Version was translated.

Paul referred to Jesus' entrance into the most holy place that we spoke about last week.
  • He quoted Psalm 110:1
  • The most quoted Old Testament verse in the entire New Testament.

I believe we can show you why the NT quoted this verse more than any other from the OT.
  • This passage in Ephesians 1 gives the reason why.

God has tremendous power poured out to us all who are in the church.
  • It's so great Paul prayed we get a spirit of revelation to be able to realize it.
  • And that prayer was one he did not cease to pray.
  • It is "the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, "

There is a power of God toward us that we do not have to pray to come.
  • It's easy to think as though we need to pray for more power.
  • God give us power.
  • Paul said it's not a matter of praying to get it.
  • It's a matter of praying to see what God has given already!
  • It's a matter of SEEING the power we HAVE.

Revelation means unveiling.
  • Something is present, but it is hidden underneath a veil.
  • You only ask for a revelation or unveiling when something that is there present is not seen by people who need to see it.

Colossians is a lot like Ephesians.

Colossians 2:1-3 Complete Apostles' Bible  (1)  For I want you to know how great a struggle I have concerning you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,  (2)  that their hearts may be encouraged, being joined together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to a full knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,  (3)  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Paul told them that there were treasures HIDDEN IN CHRIST that the Colossians had to come to a full knowledge about.

So a veil needs to be lifted so we can SEE with EYES OF UNDERSTANDING the power that we have going for us.
  • Prayer is the thing that is going to see that veil lifted.
