OVERCOMING EVERYTHING THROUGH A REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

  Scripture Text:

Exodus 3:2-8 KJV  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  (3)  And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.  (4)  And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.  (5)  And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.  (6)  Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.  (7)  And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;  (8)  And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Joshua 5:13-15 KJV  And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?  (14)  And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?  (15)  And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

  Message:

Moses and Joshua both experienced a holy ground encounter with God.
•    One was in regards to getting Israel out of Egypt.
•    And the second was associated with getting Israel out of the wilderness.

And the two encounters with God on holy ground were different.

Moses saw the angel of the Lord there in a burning bush that was not consumed.

Exodus 3:2 KJV  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Joshua saw the CAPTAIN of the host of the Lord with a sword raised high.

Joshua 5:14 KJV  And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

And the angel and captain in each case proceeded to speak as GOD speaking.

Exodus 3:4 KJV  And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Joshua 6:2 KJV  And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

Both were associated with the division of waters, as well.
•    The Red Sea was divided after Moses met God on holy ground.
•    The Jordan was divided just before Joshua met God on holy ground.

So we have two experiences of meeting God on holy ground, associated with two experiences of dividing a barrier of waters.

There is a remarkable parallel between these two events with the book of Revelation.
•    In Revelation we see the burning bush vision of Moses and the encounter of Joshua and his vision.

Moses turned aside to see the burning bush.

Exodus 3:2-4 KJV  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  (3)  And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.  (4)  And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Just as Moses turned aside and saw God in a burning bush, John turned around and saw Jesus in a burning set of candlesticks shaped like an almond tree, for that was what the seven branched candlesticks looked like (Ex 25:31).

John was in the spirit on the Lord’s day when this occurred, just as Moses and Joshua were on HOLY GROUND when they saw these sights.
•    And as John was in the spirit when he saw a counterpart of Moses’ vision, John was in the spirit a second time and saw a counterpart to Joshua’s vision.
•    And both times the Lord’s voice sounded like a trumpet.

Revelation 1:10-13 KJV  I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,  (11)  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.  (12)  And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;  (13)  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Revelation 4:1-2 KJV  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.  (2)  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

As we have seen the parallel of the Lord in a burning bush and a seven-branched tree of candlesticks on fire in the first vision of John, his second vision also parallels Joshua’s vision.

And then we enter Revelation 5 which seems to take us from Moses’ visions in Exodus all the way over to Joshua’s entrance into Canaan when he entered holy ground.
•    It’s not so much in the angel of the Lord with a sword that parallels John’s vision, but another sight John sees that connects us with Joshua.
•    In Revelation 5, we read of the lamb who is Jesus Christ.

Revelation 5:3 KJV  And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

Revelation 5:6-7 KJV  And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.  (7)  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Jesus is seen as a lamb with seven eyes and SEVEN HORNS.
•    And He crosses over the sea of glass, just as Israel crossed THROUGH the JORDAN RIVER with those seven horns.

Joshua 6:2-4 KJV  And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.  (3)  And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.  (4)  And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

And what is so wonderful is that JOSHUA is the Hebrew form of the Greek name JESUS.
•    So JESUS crosses Jordan with SEVEN RAM’S HORNS and crosses the sea of glass with SEVEN RAM’S HORNS as well!
•    Since He is a LAMB with seven horns, and a male lamb with horns is a RAM, we see the two pictures perfectly parallel one another.

And As Joshua battles and then conquers all of Canaan and finds REST in the land by the time you finish reading the book of Joshua, we read of God’s power battling against evil and wickedness in the book of Revelation.

And as God goal was for Israel to be freed from Egypt, enter the promised land, drive out the enemy and finally put his name in a city that He should choose, which is later known as Jerusalem…
•    Revelation shows John set free in the first vision (more about that later), invited to enter the heavenly realm after the lamb with seven horns enters (Rev 6:1), the wicked powers broken and defeated, and a CITY called NEW JERUSALEM is set up bearing God’s name!

I want to apply all of this to you as believers today.

We need a real revelation of Jesus Christ!

When you see something about Jesus that AFFECTS YOU, then your revelation of Jesus gives you victory.

•    Moses got a revelation of God in the burning bush and Joshua got a further revelation across Jordan.
•    And those revelations ON HOLY GROUND took Israel from slavery in Egypt to Jerusalem in the Promised land.

FREEDOM FROM EGYPT.
FREEDOM FROM WILDERNESS.

John saw Jesus in chapter 1 in a set of candlesticks shaped like BRANCHES, like a tree.
•    And very similarly to Moses, when John saw that, fear struck his soul.

Revelation 1:17-18 KJV  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:  (18)  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

John fell like a dead man in Rev 1!

Moses felt the same way.

Exodus 3:6 KJV  Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

Both of them were struck with fear.
•    And a very similar answer was given to both of them at this time.

Exodus 3:6 KJV  Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. …

Exodus 3:8 KJV  And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

God calls Himself "I AM" to both of them.
•    When Moses was in fear.

THE TITLE I AM is used by Jesus as well.
•    And it is used when John is in fear and has fallen like a dead man.
•    It is no coincidence that when JOHN FALLS LIKE A DEAD MAN, that Jesus tells him not to fear because HE WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE.
•    Moses is later told to give God’s name as “I AM THAT I AM.”
•    And I AM in Revelation is associated with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Notice that the I WAS refers to His death.
•    :  (18)  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen
•    But the IAM refers to BEING ALIVE FROM THE DEAD FOREVERMORE.
•    It refers to RESURRECTION LIFE.
•    He did not say I AM DEAD.
•    He said I AM ALIVE FOREVERMORE, and I WAS DEAD.

Jesus is actually applying HIS LIFE FROM THE DEAD to John who is so much in fear that HE FALLS LIKE A DEAD MAN.
•    Why would Jesus tell John to not fear because He was dead and is alive, as John has fallen like he DIED?
•    It is because we are seeing Jesus APPLY SOMETHING TRUE OF HIMSELF TO JOHN IN JOHN’S PREDICAMENT.

I am now touching on the entire concept that the Lord wants to show us tonight.

We need a revelation that WE DIED TO SIN.
Christ's death is our death.
FEAR OF DEATH must go.
We think we WILL DIE.
Fact is, WE HAVE DIED, so why fear death?

Romans 6:10-11 KJV  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  (11)  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE.
•    And in order to save John OUT OF FEAR, and proceed with many other great truths he wanted to show John, HE APPLIED HIS OWN RESURRECTION FROM DEATH TO JOHN AND DELIVERS HIM FROM FEAR.

When Moses saw God in the burning bush, GOD SAID HE CAME TO DELIVER ISRAEL FROM BONDAGE.

Exodus 3:7-8 KJV  And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;  (8)  And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Jesus has came to deliver us also!
•    And John’s experience perfectly illustrates this deliverance.

Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  (15)  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Romans 8: (14)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  (15)  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Jesus DIED AND RESURRECTED SO THAT HE MIGHT DELIVER THEM WHO THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH WERE ALL THEIR LIFETIME SUBJECT TO BONDAGE.
•    Just as Israel was in BONDAGE in Egypt, and God told Moses HE CAME DOWN TO deliver them, Jesus CAME DOWN in flesh and blood, made like us, and died and resurrected to DELIVER US FROM FEAR OF DEATH THAT HAD US IN BONDAGE.

One key point that we read over and over in Revelation is OVERCOMING.
•    We read it in each and every one of the seven letters to the seven churches after this vision in chapter
•    We read it in Rev 12.

Revelation 12:11 KJV  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

One thing Israel had to have in order to take Canaan and set up a city is FAITH IN GOD.
•    FEAR IS THE OPPOSITE OF FAITH!
•    And FEAR was the very thing God had to deal with in JOHN before He could show him anything else.
•    And God went right back to the very first thing He did in order to save us.
•    Death and resurrection from the dead.
•    The work of the cross!
•    And He told John who was so afraid he fell like a dead man that HE WAS DEAD AND IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE.
•    In other words, “John, apply what is true of me to yourself in your situation and BE DELIVERED FROM THE FEAR OF DEATH THAT KEEPS YOU IN BONDAGE.”

Church, fear keeps God’s people in bondage.
•    When sickness comes, we fear.
•    When trials come, we fear.
•    And it defeats any faith at all that we might have.
•    And it’s nothing more than the power of death.
•    Through death Jesus defeated Him who had the power of death.
•    And because of that, HE SETS US FREE FROM FEAR OF DEATH AND IT’S BONDAGE.
•    FEAR OF DEATH is linked to bowing to the one who has the power of death.

You do not have to have FEAR OF DEATH.
•    Jesus conquered the one who had power of death by dying Himself, and that was done to deliver us from fear of death and it’s bondage.

SIN is connected with DEATH.

Romans 8:2 KJV  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

We fear so much that we fear God, Himself, in an unhealthy terrifying fear.

Jesus was actually showing John that he can apply Christ’s victory over death to himself in the very vision in which Jesus was shown to John.
•    Jesus was in the midst of candlesticks that were shaped like branches of a tree SHOWING JOHN VICTORY OVER SIN AND DEATH!

John 15:5 KJV  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The same sap that is in the vine flows through into the tree.
•    When we are IN CHRIST, the same resurrection life that is in Him, flows through us!
•    WE CAN APPLY EVERYTHING THAT IS TRUE OF HIM TO OURSELVES!
•    First and foremost is VICTORY OVER DEATH AND ALL IT’S FEAR THAT BINDS US IN BONDAGE.

We all know that the first thing God did in setting Israel free after Moses saw Go in the BUSH WITH ALL IT’S BURNING BRANCHES, was THROUGH DEATH OF THE PASSOVER LAMB, to set Israel free from death and the bondage in Egypt!

Like Jesus, who died was buried and rose again, we have died, were buried and resurrected with Him so that we can say to death I WAS DEATH AND ALIVE FOREVERMORE.

Romans 6:9-11 KJV  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  (10)  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  (11)  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rev 1:17-18 (JOHN FALLING DEAD AND JESUS STELLING HIM TO NOT FEAR) is comparable to Romans 6:9-11 (JESUS' DEATH IS COUNTED AS OUR OWN DEATHS!

And between Israel’s exit from Egypt and their entrance into Canaan, there was a wilderness.
•    Problems arose in that wilderness amongst themselves, everywhere.
•    One time they murmured over poison bitter waters.
•    What did Moses do?
•    He took a TREE and threw it into the bitter waters and made them sweet!

Exodus 15:25 KJV  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

•    Another time they murmured and God sent vipers that poisoned them.
•    What did Moses do?
•    He lifted up a brazen serpent and told them to look on it and be healed.

Numbers 21:8 KJV  And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

John 3:14 KJV  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

All these events were instances showing us how we can apply the work of the cross to our troubles in life.
•    As the tree was throne into the bitter waters to heal it, we need to apply the truths of the cross, the old rugged tree, into our bitter experiences in life.
•    And as Moses lifted up the serpent, we need to know that Christ was lifted up on the cross that if we would look to him, the serpent’s venom in our souls from the serpent’s lies in the Garden of Eden will be healed.

IT'S A REVELATION TO KNOW THE CROSS IS FOR MORE THAN GETTING YOU OUT OF HELL.

Jesus is the manna!

He is everything that Israel found as a remedy in the wilderness for their troubles.

And that is why between Revelation 1 and 4-5, we read chapters 2-3.
•    Letters to churches who had problems amongst themselves.
•    Like the church in the wilderness, between Egypt and Canaan.
After salvation from sin, we have issuesd with each other within the church.
•    And each and every time, Jesus takes a different description of Himself, and addresses each church.
•    And if you look carefully, you will see that their problem is solved IF THEY WOULD APPLY WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT HIMSELF TO THE SPECIFIC SITUATION IN THAT CHURCH.

I will just give you one example, so you can get an idea and study on your own, since I d not have time to get into it all in this message.

Revelation 2:8 KJV  And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Revelation 2:10-11 KJV  Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.  (11)  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Smyrna’s believers would suffer until some of them would actually die.
•    They were not to fear, just as John was told not to fear when he fell like a dead man.
•    Although some might actually die, let them know that Jesus died and is alive.
•    And, THEY NEED TO APPLY THAT ASPECT TO THEMSELVES IN FACING DEATH, AND RECEIVE LIFE, ITSELF, AS A CROWN, AND LIVE ETERNALLY FOREVER.
•    And he says HE THAN HATH AN EAR LET HIM HEAR… because he is saying CATCH WHAT I AM SAYING.
•    Catch the gist of the thought that you must APPLY WHAT I SAID ABOUT ME TO YOURSELF, because since I am the VINE and you  are the BRANCHES (which is what John saw around Jesus when He saw each of these various descriptions to each church), everything true of ME can be applied to you IN YOUR TROUBLES.
•    Just as John’s death of fear was remedied by Jesus applying HIS VICTORY OVER DEATH to John, each of these churches would OVERCOME by applying JESUS’ ASPECT OF HIMSELF TO THEMSELVES IN THEIR PROBLEMS.

Do not fear --- HAVE FAITH!

1 John 5:4 KJV  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

BORN OF GOD is like a BRANCH FROM THE VINE.
•    If you are a branch of Jesus, or BORN OF GOD, what is true of Him is true for you!
•    YOU ARE A BRANCH IN UNION WITH THE VINE!
•    The victory you overcome with is FAITH.
•    FAITH IN YOUR UNION TO JESUS.
•    IOW, FAITH THAT WHAT IS TRUE OF HIM IS APPLIED TO YOU.

And after Israel got over their problems amongst themselves, God took them into Canaan to overcome the TRIBES OF THE LAND THAT WAS ISRAEL’S LAND.

When you FULLY apply the works of the cross and the qualities of Christ to yourself and your situations with each other, you are THEN FULLY TRAINED to be able to take on devils in YOUR LAND.

Ephesians 1:3 KJV  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

The heavenly places wherein are all our blessings are OUR’S.
•    But after we read this in Ephesians 1, look what is in Ephesians 6.

Ephesians 6:11-12 KJV  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  (12)  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The same greek words used as HEAVENLY PLACES in 1:4 are translated HIGH PLACES in 6:12.

The LAND OF HEAVENLY PLACES and their blessings is OUR’S!
•    Just like Canaan was given to Israel by God.
•    But Israel had to fight the enemies off their land.
•    So it is in heavenly places.
•    We must fight the devils out of the heavenly places.

And as JOSHUA crossed Jordan and circled Jericho with 7 horns, bringing down the walls,  and attacked the inhabitants of the land, Jesus crosses into glory with seven horns, after which God’s seals, seven trumpets, seven thunders and seven vials smash and judge all the wickedness throughout Revelation’s narration.

Israel would set up JERUSALEM.
•    There was going to be a NEW JERUSALEM after the wrath of God poured out upon the enemies of God.

And what does Joshua and the seven ram’s horns, and Jesus with seven horns, speak about?
•    Since they were horns from a RAM, who is Jesus, it represents the FULL AND COMPLETE POWER OF CHRIST.
•    When those seven ram’s horns are blasted around Jericho on the seventh day around the city, WE SEE A PICTURE OF ISRAEL BLASTING FORTH THE TRUTH THAT THEY HAVE THE FULL POWER OF THE LAMB OF GOD APPLIED TO THEIR LIVES FOR VICTORY OVER EVERY ENEMY!

SEVEN implies FULLNESS and COMPLETION since God finished the creation and rested the seventh day!

Horns mean POWER.

God allows us to LEARN to apply the power of Christ’s cross to our lives in our little problems in a spiritual wilderness between salvation from sin and entrance into full blessings.
•    And when we fully have learned, and saw the cross applied to our carnal parts of our lives until they are dead, as all of Israel’s OLDER GENERATION OF DOUBTERS died  when Joshua finally could take Israel in, THEN WE ARE FULLY AWARE OF THE POWER OF CHRIST UPON US SO MUCH SO THAT WE CAN TEAR DOWN DEVIL’S STRONGHOLDS IN HEAVENLY PLACES THAT BELONG TO US!

Blowing seven horns represents WE USE THE FULL POWER of Christ’s work of the cross since we have come to fully know it, as represented by having successfully claimed full death with Christ to all our carnality.

GOD FOUGHT FOR US AT RED SEA:

Exodus 14:13-14 KJV  And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.  (14)  The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

WE FIGHT WITH GOD AT JORDAN

And New Jerusalem is set up!

And God said He’d put His name on the city He chose.
•    He chose us, not we Him.
•    And we have come to the heavenly Jerusalem.
•    This is best explained by a message to one of the seven churches.

Revelation 3:12 KJV  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

When we overcome, His name is glorified in us!
•    He wants all to see HIS NAME on this kind of Church!
•    Philadelphia was the greatest of all the seven churches.
•    And it is no wonder God spoke of HIS PURPOSE AND GOAL of setting His name on a city, the goal of the Exodus from Egypt, upon them if they CONTINUE TO OVERCOME!

Revelation 3:8 KJV  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

They did not deny His name.
•    They kept that PURPOSE FOR HIS NAME BEING ON A CITY HE WOULD CHOOSE IN MIND!
•    In other words, they kept their purpose as a called out people to glorify Him, and not get bogged down in pettiness and carnality forever, in their hearts.
•    They looked beyond petty problems of today towards the broader purpose and goal for them to glorify His name.

Deuteronomy 12:5 KJV  But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

God wants to bring us to this PLACE where HIS NAME is PUT by His CHOICE.

Deuteronomy 28:1 KJV  And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

His name is upon the city because this people HAS SO MUCH RECOGNIZED THEIR UNION TO HIM THAT EVERYONE SEES HIM IN THEM.
•    His NAME is therefore upon them.
•    Yes, we got His name in baptism.
•    However, practically speaking, HIS NAME IS ON US FOR ALL TO SEE, WHEN WE PRACTICALLY, IN ALL BATTLES OF LIFE, OVERCOME BY APPLYING ASPECTS OF HIMSELF TO OURSELVES

What is a TRUE REVELATION OF JESUS?
•    It’s seeing and realizing as a result that WE APPLY HIS ASPECTS TO OUR LIVES from the start where we are set free from bondage of fear, until we victoriously and courageously are set up a city IN HIS NAME.

Joshua…

Joshua 1:6 KJV  Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Joshua 1:9 KJV  Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

We see an overall and greater EXODUS back to the GARDEN OF EDEN, that the Promised land merely foreshadowed.
•    And for that reason, New Jerusalem, a picture from the Exodus journey’s entire goal and purpose, HAS THE TREE OF LIFE, from the Garden of Eden, IN IT!
•    A church healing the nations, as it were, with with leaves from tree of life, the and feeding starving souls with the truths of it’s fruit of life!
