ANOTHER SUMMARIZATION OF PARTIAL PRETERISM

(Is it important that we study such issues?)

PRETER is latin for PAST. And partial preterism is a fancy educated title to summarize the beliefs of a certain line of interpretation of bible prophecy as being MOSTLY FULFILLED IN THE PAST, with some prophecies yet to be fulfilled, including the resurrection/rapture, the visible coming of Christ, the white throne judgment and end of time.

The greatest event of all biblical history, and of all history in general, was the cross of Jesus Christ.  Partial Preterism is proposing that for this reason, Jesus concentrated upon the rejection of Himself by Jerusalem the day He rode into Jerusalem in Matthew 21. He would not stop talking about Jerusalem's destruction, using parables and direct statements from that day until His crucifixion. And this continued on through Matthew 24 and 25. So this includes the very scriptures of Matthew 24 that have been traditionally touted in pentecostal ranks as not fulfilled but rather future.

The Old Testament made the issue of Jerusalem as the Bride of God a HUGE issue. In fact that is what pretty well introduces the Gospel of John in the first chapter. Jesus was the Word, was God, was the light, and came unto His own and His own received Him not. His Bride was in the arms of Rome, and eventually went so far as to crucify Him, while calling for Caesar as her King!

Nothing could be worse in earth's history than for this bride of God to adulterate with the fourth beast of Daniel 7, Rome, and demand her Groom's death through the ultimate humiliation of the cross.

(Of course, little did they realize the cross would be the greatest thing ever accomplished for the salvation of mankind as well! )

And for the rejection and killing of the Lord, tribulation such as never was nor shall be was meted out upon Jerusalem in 70 AD, 40 years after Jesus said THAT GENERATION (40 year span of time) would see all these judgments occur.

And the powerful points that push all this to the forefront are the statements of Jesus being made to Jerusalem for being guilty of all righteous blood shed upon the earth. They simply crossed the line when they set out to crucify the Lord. Revelation 18:24 shows the harlot of Revelation to be the one filled with all the blood shed on earth. This can only be the party Jesus accused in Matthew 23:35-36. Whose word would you take? Jesus' or someone else's?

Jesus told Jerusalem's women that they should not weep for Him, as He carried His cross to Golgotha. They should rather weep for themselves and for their children! For they would soon cry for the rocks and mountains to cover them. This is the sixth seal in Revelation 6!

See Luke 23:28-30 and Rev. 6:16.

And THE KINGS OF THE EARTH committed fornication with the harlot in Rev 17:1-2. Under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, the apostles referred to the leaders of Rome in Jerusalem as the KINGS OF THE EARTH in Acts 4:26-27, showing JERUSALEM TOGETHER and them (in adultery) with Rome.

Ezekiel 16 calls Jerusalem the harlot in harlotry worse than any harlot has ever been! And it starts out speaking of her as God's wife married in a covenant on Mount Sinai to Him. And she is rebuked for disobedience to God, which ultimately pointed ot the days of the cross, once again.

So much scripture of prophecy actually is seen to point to the destruction of Jerusalem for perpetrating the death of the cross upon Christ, her groom. And this witnesses so much with my spirit, since it makes FAR MORE SCRIPTURE to be seen to speak about the cross and the ramifications of judgment upon Jerusalem for its crime with the cross, using Rome, than any other interpretation of prophecy.

And the Book of Revelation is simply contrasting, the same spirit as Matthew 21 through 25, the church (the new bride) from Jerusalem (the bride turned harlot) in the church being blessed, while holding on beneath the persecution of Jerusalem, that John speaks about in Rev 1:9.

The cross and the New Testament was absolutely the greatest point of change in the earth's history in dealing with mankind. Therefore, the ramifications of Law ending and Grace commencing, involving the folks who rejected and crucified Him, the Jews, and their subsequent judgment for it, 70 AD wrath of God, is simply made a huge issue in the entire Bible -- stretching from Pentateuch prophecies, through the words of the major and minor prophets of the Old Testament, and on into Jesus' own words of cursing explicitly given to Jerusalem. The cross is the pivot of all this prophecy in the viewpoint of Partial Preterism.

To look at it in this light, and then consider the futuristic viewpoint that totally removes all these scriptures from the immediate years surrounding the cross, throwing them into our future, one sees the reason all this "hoopla" is being made!

For some reason, God chose to spend entire chapters upon Jerusalem's wickedness in the Old Testament, since she was His Bride. Ask God about it. He inspired the writings! Think about it. She was His BRIDE!

And it all comes together in Christ's day, when their greatest disobedience occurred! The murder through the cross! ...of none other than God become manifested in flesh!

Do you think that might just be considered a big deal in God's eyes? Enough to spend far more chapters of prophecy about, than what many (futurists) have ever considered before?

And what about the ramifications for us? God told Moses it would be a sign forever!

Deut 28:46.

And if the great tribulation period is all past... would that not drastically affect the way we think about our days? As Christians?

Go figure.
