Ezekiel 11:17-23 (17) Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. (18) And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. (19) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: (20) That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. (21) But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. (22) Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. (23) And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
Ezekiel Mentions the New Covenant The New Testament speaks similarly Hebrews 8:7-10 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. (8) For finding fault with them, he saith, ...Behold,
the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel and with the house of Judah: (9) Not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not,
saith the Lord. (10) For this is the covenant that I will
make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will
put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will
be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.
God knew Israel could not CONTINUE in the Old Covenant.
Hebrews 8 actually quotes Jeremiah 31:31-34. Jeremiah 31:31-34 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Ezekiel 11 mirrors that prophecy.
Then God speaks of hearts who would reject it. Ezek 11:21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. Ezekiel Immediately Sees Glory Depart (22) Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. (23) And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. The Glory went to the MOUNT OF OLIVES.
Matthew 23:37-38 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! (38) Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. SAME PLACE JESUS WENT Matthew 24:1-3 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. (2) And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. (3) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Jerusalem would not accept that covenant.
A Chapter Earlier… Ezekiel 10:18-19 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. (19) And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. We see the glory of God ready to leave the temple by moving to the EAST GATE. Notice how we read the description of the “Glory of God” … Ezekiel 1:8-9 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. Ezekiel 1:26-28 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. (27) And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. (28) As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. At Mount of Olives (Matthew 24):
AS EZEKIEL SAYS WHEN GLORY ABOUT TO LEAVE. Ezek. 11:21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. Context of Ezekiel and Matthew Identical
We see Jerusalem’s rejection of NEW COVENANT CONNECTED with the “endtime” events of Matthew 24.
Let me pause and point out an important observation all apostolics ought to recognize. The apostles only used Old Testament prophecies to describe the salvation experience.
Amos 9:11-12 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: (12) That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this. Acts 15:14-17 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. (15) And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, (16) After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: (17) That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. WHAT IS BEING “APOSTOLIC”?
It is saying the MAJOR STRESS OF THE PROPHETS IMPORTANT IS NOT THE CHURCH.
The Bible never explains God is dealing with the church and Israel at the same time in two separate works.
Back to the visions of Ezekiel: Ezekiel is given a most enlightening word: Ezekiel 2:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. Ezekiel 2:7 (7) And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious. After saying this about ISRAEL…:
Ezekiel 2:8-10 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. (9) And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; (10) And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. The same picture is found here: Exodus 32:15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. Revelation 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. Then we read: Ezekiel 3:1-3 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. (2) So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. (3) And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. Ezekiel connects REVELATION 5 together with REVELATION 10 Ezekiel 3:1-3 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak… Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. Revelation 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. Revelation 10:2, 9 And he had in his hand a little book open:… And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. Notice the contents of the BOOK in Ezekiel: Ezekiel 2:10 …there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. THE SEALS OPEN IN REVELATION 6 AND DEPICT LAMENTATIONS, MOURNING AND WOE OF GOD’S JUDGMENTS!
"in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit" is also translated from Hebrew as "bitter in hot anger" Ezekiel 3:14 So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. SOMETHING ASTOUNDING OCCURS.
Ezekiel 3:19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. THIS SHOWS THEY HAD A CHANCE TO REPENT: JUST AS IN REVELATION: Revelation 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, … Revelation 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. Revelation 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. If we read they did not repent, then we understand they could have done so!
Revelation takes this thought of the sealed book, the roll of Ezekiel, and inserts it into a picture of ATONEMENT. COMPARE REVELATION AND DANIEL
Revelation 5:7-10 And he came and took the book… (8) And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, …(9) And they sung a new song, saying, thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God …(10) And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Daniel 7:13-14 …one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. We saw how Ezekiel and John become ONE WITH THE LORD in His very EMOTIONS.
Daniel 7:13-14 …one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, Daniel 7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. Revelation 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. Revelation 5:9-10 And they sung a new song,… And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. In this picture involving Atonement, Daniel speaks About Nero Caesar Daniel 7:25-26 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Note the term: UNTIL!!!
(26) But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. THE SAINTS SHALL TAKE HIS DOMINION AWAY!!!
There is a UNION of the saints to CHRIST, as He takes dominion and they are said to have taken dominion! UNION OF ATONEMENT. Daniel ties together more of Revelation. Daniel 7:2-3 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. (3) And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. By John's time, in Revelation, the first three beasts, Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece had come and gone.
And there is MORE notes of atonement. Revelation 1:5-6 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, (6) And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Atonement is in the notion of the BLOOD of Jesus. Daniel 7 spoke of the time of ROME rising up, & the time of Jesus taking DOMINION for SAINTS then!
Note all the thoughts of atonement UNION.
God is showing us that THE SAME ATONEMENT UNION that bought us salvation, is also the answer for defeating persecution against us.
INTERCESSION UNION FOR VICTORY, TOO! Hebrews 7:25-26 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (26) For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Revelation 5:1-3 KJV And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. (2) And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? (3) And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. WHAT WE READ ABOVE IS EXPLAINED BELOW HERE IN HEBREWS: Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Like Adam entering back into the Garden and plucking fruit of life from the Tree of Life’s branch…
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: We have peace with God, when we were former enemies.
(2) By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. We also have ACCESS by Jesus. Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. And we ALSO have JOY IN GOD BY THIS ATONEMENT. NOT ONLY THAT… Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) MANY SAINTS DO NOT KNOW ALL THE ATONEMENT PROVIDED FOR THEM! REV. 5 RELATES THE EARLY CHURCH LEARNED THEY HAD MORE!!! Paul prayed we SEE THIS with SPIRIT OF REVELATION. Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the wisdom and spirit of revelation in the knowledge of him: Ephesians 1:19-20 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, (20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. EYES OPENED – SPIRIT OF REVELATION Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: The reason the book of REVELATION is called so is because of the note we read in Ephesians: Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Notice what happened to John when He saw JESUS! Revelation 1:17-18 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. John fell in fear like he died!
John saw ATONEMENT provide the church with DOMINION.
Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. Psalms 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Leviticus 16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: This is INVOLVED IN ATONEMENT! Notice what occurs in the Fifth Seal. Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? They are PRAYING.
THE BLOOD ATONED FOR US! Revelation 12:1-5 KJV And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (2) And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. (3) And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. (4) And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. (5) And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. Christ goes to the THRONE,
Michael and his angels fight and cast down the devil, after the MANCHILD rose to the throne, and the SAINTS ARE GIVEN THE CREDIT FOR CONQUERING THE DEVIL.
What we read in Revelation 12 was how the Church claimed the blood of Atonement to RULE IN THE POWER OF LIFE (Romans 5).
Atonement allows for us to pray and see Christ INTERCEDE.
And then he resurrected and spoke of the KINGDOM OF GOD for 40 days.
Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. Daniel 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. The Judge would take the bench.
