Hebrews 1:1-2 Complete Apostles' Bible  (1)  God, who in various ways and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,  (2)  has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Hebrews 1:10-12 Complete Apostles' Bible  (10)  And: "You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.  (11)  They shall perish, but You continue; and they all shall grow old like a garment;  (12)  and like a cloak You will roll them up, and they shall be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not fail."

Hebrews speaks of the church days way back in the fist century as THESE LAST DAYS.

It is language that is very popularly mistaken as being the end of time.

Ephesians 1:10 KJV  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Paul called it the FULLNESS OF TIMES.
Acts 2:16-17 Complete Apostles' Bible  (16)  "But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:  (17)  "And it shall be in the last days", says God, "that I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;"

1 John 2:18 KJV  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Hebrews 1:2 KJV  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

1 Corinthians 10:11 KJV  (11)  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

1 Corinthians 7:29 KJV  But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

Hebrews 10:37 KJV  For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Matthew 16:28 KJV  Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Matthew 26:64 KJV  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

And Israel could be considered the HEAVENLY people since they had a divine law, covenant, government and doctrine.
And as we read through Hebrews, the mention of the idea of something waxing or growing old and rolled up and changed like old clothing, that referred to heaven and earth, is applied to something that would really jolt you and let you realize what he meant by heaven and earth removed and rolled up like old clothes.

Hebrews 8:7-13 Complete Apostles' Bible  (7)  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.  (8)  For finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,  (9)  not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day when I took their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. Because they did not persevere in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD.  (10)  For this is the covenant which I shall covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind, and I shall inscribe them upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  (11)  And by no means will they teach each one his fellow citizen, and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.  (12)  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I shall by no means remember anymore."  (13)  By the saying "new ," He has made the first obsolete. And the one becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish.

He uses the same language he did in chapter one to speak of HEAVEN AND EARTH taken off, rolled up and thrown aside for new clothing AND APPLIES IT TO COVENANTS.

  1. FIRST COVENANT
  2. SECOND COVENANT

Notice he uses GENESIS language of creation from Gen 1 of HEAVEN AND EARTH, and NOW A NEW ONE.

1 Corinthians 15:46 Complete Apostles' Bible  (46)  However, that which is spiritual is not first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.

We read of this principle in 1 Cor 15.

The Old Covenant was FLESHLY and NATURAL covenant.

Hebrews 9:8-12 Complete Apostles' Bible  (8)  the Holy Spirit signifying this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet revealed while the first tabernacle was still standing,  (9)  which was symbolic for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices are being offered, which are not able, in respect to conscience, to make perfect the one performing the service,  (10)  concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances which are imposed until a time of reformation.  (11)  But Christ came as a High Priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.  (12)  Not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered once for all into the Holies, having obtained eternal redemption.

After we read of NEW COVENANT coming like a new set of clothes to replace the old worn out clothing God removed and rolled up and cast away, we read these words.
Hebrews 9:13-14 Complete Apostles' Bible  (13)  For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling those having been defiled, sanctifies for the purity of the flesh,  (14)  by how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, will cleanse your conscience from dead works in order that we might serve the living God?

Those things purged the FLESH but not the conscience.

Hebrews 9:22 Complete Apostles' Bible  (22)  And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Almost all.  BUT NOT CONSCIENCE.

And then we are taken back to ANOTHER ASPECT OF CREATION, apart from the idea of HEAVEN AND EARTH.
