Exodus- "The Way Out"

Pastor Roy E. Richmond

PART SIX

Lets return to the book of Exodus.

The book of Exodus begins with a people. The end of Genesis has Israel dying or departing from this earth. Jacob's name was changed to Israel. Israel means "a prince with God." How many of you know that the head of the church is a Prince? The Prince of life, the Prince of peace.

The book of Genesis ends with Israel departing and leaving 12 sons. Those 12 sons have supernaturally been brought into a particular place, and in Egypt they have become a great nation.

As we can see how this applies to our lives, hear what I'm saying. Jesus the Prince of Peace has departed and left 12 Apostles who have at this point become a great nation.

1 Peter chapter 2:9 says that the church is a Holy nation and we are spread throughout the world that is typified by Egypt.

So, Exodus begins with those 12 sons becoming a tremendous nation, but there is a problem. At the beginning of the book it says that they were in bondage to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. They were making bricks.

How does that apply to us today? Could it be speaking about this great Holy nation of the Church that exists all throughout this earth today, which includes every single born-again believer on the face of this earth?

Look at verse 7 of chapter 1,

And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
There's more Christians today than there ever has been. Reinhard Bonnke is winning 1/4 of a million in just one of his meetings. People are being saved today like never before. But is that what God is shooting for?

Please hear this!

8 there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
As a result of that, this whole nation was in bondage in Egypt making bricks, building worldly things, building Egyptian things, and were head-over-heals in bondage. They didn't do a thing that was not proclaimed to be done by the King of Egypt.

Let's think about this. Where is the church today, this Holy nation? Do you believe there is one person sitting in this group of people, whom I believe are hearing what God is saying today, who isn't in bondage to the world in some way?

"Oh, I'm free, Pastor."

Every single person in the nation of Israel had become so used to living there, after living there over 400 years. And they died off the scene. This is the way it is today. "Man, we're Christians, we're God's people!" But we are in bondage. And you know what? They didn't know there was anything wrong with them. They just lived there and grew up there as slaves. They were used to that.

It speaks of how we as Christians live today. We are working for the world. We're doing things because of the world system of doing things. I'm not telling you to quit your jobs. Are you hearing what I'm saying?

We run and function and move according to that system which happens to be in the part of the world that we live in. But the truth of the matter is that we are all, in some way or another, in bondage to Egypt. We think if we get a lot of money then we will have freedom. But that is just worldly thinking.

Can you see that there is a deliverance that needs to happen? There is an age on the horizon that is going to see some change. From where we are, the King proclaims a message.

Pharaoh proclaimed, "I forbid that there be any man-children born and alive in this hour. There shall be the birth of no sons in Egypt." Why? It was because these people were filling the earth with themselves.

"Therefore, no son shall be born." This is what the king of this world system is saying today. "They're multiplying and they're filling this earth. Don't let the Son be born! Do not allow any more males from these women."

Women represent little local churches.

"Don't let a Son be born from them! As soon as the man-child is born put it to death."

And chapter 1 has two women rise up, by the names of Shiphrah, and Puah.

"Shiphrah" means, or has the connotation of, "revelation, light, brightness." In other words Shiphrah speaks of seeing some things. "Puah" means "to command to utter, or to speak." It speaks in the light of the king's decree of this world, "Don't let a son be born."

What do we mean by this? God's purpose for this church is to let a Son be born through us. These two women got up and said, "We are going to defy the king's decree." And it speaks of all the people of the nation of Israel who have light and words.

"Shiphrah and Puah," are "light and words" that defy the king's decree, and allow a deliverer to be born. Do you follow this?

I hope we will have a Shiphrah and Puah spirit in this place. Having light and words. We have to give words to our light. We have to give utterance to our revelation, and that is part of my job. You hear it every service. I believe that we can go out and give light and words. There are people all over the world that are hearing and giving light and words. People will come when they hear this spirit of Shiphrah and Puah.

The church has been kept here for a purpose, and it is to give birth, to express something.

Can you understand the graveness of the bondage under which the Hebrew women existed, when they thought, "If this is a man that I'm caring in me, he will die"?

But somebody, somewhere, has to stand up and say, "We will defy the proclamation of the king of this world and say that there will be, regardless of the circumstances, a son born in this house!"

You know what happened? They defied the decree and the last thing that was said about these women, was that God made them houses! It was because they defied the king of this world. He made them dwelling places.

Let someone who has light in this house give words to it!

Many have wanted to give birth to the Son and have never received any encouragement. They've been told to look out since they were going too far with this. "Stay with tradition and religion."

Chapter 2, where was this newborn, little boy baby placed? He was placed in the very place where all the other little male babies had died. This is an every developing and unfolding progression. There is initially a people in bondage. And then, out of that people in bondage, there are two women who picture, in the Spirit, another people who come up and say, "Hey! We can help you. We can do it!" And they assist in the birth of a Deliverer. Praise God!

"Moses" means "brought out." God's bringing a people out to express what Moses was born to do. That person whose name means "brought out" had to be placed in something in order to be brought out, himself. And he was placed in the very place of death and thereby was brought out. Moses was brought out.

Chapter 2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Let me ask you something. How many of you feel like you have been brought out of something? I keep being brought out of the world. And not just the world only, but out of tradition, also. And the more you're brought out, the more other people don't understand you.

"Why aren't you like other people?"

I'm just being brought out and placed into something else.

Look at Acts 7 with me and read something more about Moses.

Speaking of Moses verse 24

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
It speaks of what the church has done up until right now. We go around, and this is good and proper, and we see somebody that is oppressed and we put our foot on the devil and bring deliverance to them. But only temporarily do they have deliverance!

And then it says in verse 25

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
Go back with me to the second chapter of Exodus and I will show you something. This is all that we really have done in the earth. We have just brought deliverance, individually, and helped people with temporary relief. Thank God for that. Amen? But the problems keep coming back. We can help with one problem, and another shows up.
Verse 12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Think of this. Where had Moses been brought up? This gives us a clue as to why he acted as he did. He was raised in Egypt. Therefore, his mind was filled with Egyptian ways and the ways of the world. He thought as they did. He had plenty of information about rising to success. Have we not seen hundreds of magazines telling us how to be a real success in the world? With all this worldly learning he killed one Egyptian.

Why did he have to spend forty years on the backside of the desert? He had to unlearn some things!

Moses is over there and after forty years he is trying to remember what he was taught and why it isn't working. God finally comes to him and he comes to the end of his own life. He is taking care of a little flock of sheep. Until the confrontation with God at the burning bush, sis calling was taking care of the sheep. Awesome! Did you notice that? "Just raise your sheep, Moses."

A whole generation -- forty years -- had gone by to get Moses, the brought out one, out of the Egyptians' thought processes. People will flock to the churches that are built with the world's thought processes.

Moses is going there in "Horeb," which means "barren." Did you know that every single Old Testament Patriarch's wife was barren?

What is our wilderness experience? It is whatever it takes to get you to the point that what every you can do will never work! You have to get to the place of barenness. That means you will have to look at your life and say, "Is this life a representative, a place for His name? Have I given birth to Christ?" And you know it takes a long time sometimes. But it doesn't have to. It can just take a minute. It's not a matter of success. What does it take to get to that place?

It takes a desparation and your arrival to the place where you can say, "I have given birth to no child and I'm sick of it."

The Son needs to be birthed in and through us. If you're here today and you know you are living in barrenness, you need to come to the end of yourself.

There are people who come to us and tell of us the barrenness in their lives and say, "I'm coming," and then never show up. Why? It is because they're still thinking that they know what to do and that they can bring life to themselves. The best thing is for somebody to tell you, and then show you, than to have to go through the desert.

In our minds we have the Egyptians', the world's understanding of success. What is success? We think success is showing up and being on time. We have a "John the Baptist" mentality, saying, "There's coming one, there's coming one, there's coming one." It's a different message. He has already come and God is presently taking a people out of this world system.

What is the burning bush? It's anybody that you can come in contact with that can be on fire and still not be consumed by it. There's been lots of burning bushes, flames in the night, but they burn up and out. God wants this church to be a burning bush. He wants us to be everything that we are going to see in this book.

Can you have some revelation and not be carried off and not remain humble in it? Do you have the potential to think that you're the only one that has received a truth, and the only one with truth? People need to turn aside and see. People are busy running 100 miles an hour and they need to stop and turn aside and see.

Can you be a burning bush, a branch man, somebody who can proclaim the gospel? Such people comprise the army of God. It's all of us who are on fire that will cause people to turn aside from the place of barrenness in the world.

Moses knew that he was called to be a deliverer. He must have thought he blew it! We pray that we can give you some words that will wake you up.

This woman that was birthed from Adam was birthed out of a sleeping Adam. I wonder if that doesn't picture a sleeping church out of which the bride will be brought out in the end of the sixth day. I wonder if that is what Paul meant when he said, "It's high time to awaken out of sleep."

It's one thing to be asleep in the natural and another to be asleep in the spirit. Let's wake up. There are more people asleep at the midnight hour when one day ends and another day begins than any other time. Wake up, because it's getting dark. It's darker than it's ever been before. I'll tell you where darkness is found. It can be found in the church. It's all the Egyptian teaching that we have. It's the darkness in our lives that I want to bring into the light. Don't look to others.

Go ahead and think it's foolish to give birth to a Son. You say, "This world won't let a Jesus be born from us. We've been here for a long time. We're good at what we're doing."

Let me tell you what is going to a happen. Our Moses is going to come in and say, "Let the people go." And the Pharaoh is going to say, "Ok, get your own straw."

Do you really want a Moses Pastor? When I say you can be like Christ, the devil places a lie inside of you that thinks, "Ok, what do I have to do in my fleshly abilities to accomplish this? We're going to have to do more, and get our own straw. It's going to be tougher."

Then you find a place where they teach brick-making, or works.

Don't let the enemy tell you to accomplish more works. Moses asked Pharaoh to let the people go for a three days' journey. The king of this world doesn't want you to journey those three days. He wants you to stay here and work.

What are those three days? They are the three days and three nights of the redemptive work. Once you journey those three days, you get out of Egypt. We will get into the "letting go" in our next lesson.

Pray: Help us to ask these questions, "Why are we here, what are we doing and what is the purpose? What is the whole goal in my life? Why have I been brought to this place in this hour for such a time as this? Why? Why?" Father, I pray by the spirit of God that if there are people reading this study who believe that they're entire lives are just working towards death and then going to Heaven, that You would show them that this church, this people, is not supposed to be limited to such a low esteem of Christianity. Lead us all into a place that will satisfy us as to what our purpose is in life -- to fully mature.

The time is so short and the darkness is increasing in the world. But in a time of darkness, You are going to have a perfected bride to raise up in the earth. I thank you that you are bringing us out of the world system so that we can be brought in.

Reader, if you have been led to this study, I pray that you will get into the will of God completely. Give youself to what God has planted you in. I pray that none of you are just following me!
