Exodus- "The Way Out"

Pastor Roy E. Richmond

PART FOURTEEN

Turn to Exodus chapter 19 and we will continue.

The children of Israel had come to Mt. Sinai and God said something to them. They had already been delivered from the bondage of Egypt by the mighty hand of God.

4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles wings, and brought you unto myself.
God likens what He did to the children of Israel who were in Egyptian bondage, to an eagle coming down and swooping into the camp and bringing freedom to those people who were in bondage.

An Eagle has characteristics of God that we want to instill in our minds and our thinking. God has appeared as a raven, feeding us by the brooks that are drying up. God has appeared in the form of the precious Holy Spirit as the dove from heaven in the infilling of the Spirit. These all picture various characteristics of God. This whole Word is God revealed.

Just as the Prophet was fed by the raven, so have we. But that brook dried up. It's time to move on. And the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove and rested upon Jesus. But the infilling of the Holy Spirit is not the end, either. It's the beginning.

We are in a time in the history of the church where God wants to appear as a great eagle and let us soar above in the heavenlies into a higher dimension so that we can grow up.

The world does not need messages about Jesus, they need to see Jesus in you and me and in our children. They need to see a transformation. We need to be lifted up by the Father with a strong hand and taken somewhere. That's the story of the book of Exodus.

Some people in the family of Israel began to cry. They said, "Lord, we have been making bricks for the Egyptian King and in slavery all these years. We know we have been made for more than this!"

They had been there 480 years. They had been there so long, that most of the people thought that the way they were living was right and normal. But it wasn't right. So God raised up a deliverer by the name of Moses.

Moses does speak of Jesus in the Old Testament in pictures in an untold numbers of ways. But, he is also a picture of a people. Not only is he a picture of Jesus as the head of the church, but also of the body through which the Head works. Your head gets and gives out all the information, but if your body doesn't respond to the thoughts and the motives from the head, you do not get much accomplished.

So, Jesus is brining some answers to the church that is presently in bondage, but He is doing it through a people. And Moses speaks of that kind of people.

If you want to be a Moses kind of person, "to be brought out", if you want to be part of the brought-out ones who help those who are in bondage, then you must do what Moses did.

Number 1 you must be brought out of a place of death. That's chapter 2.

Number 2 you must come face to face with God speaking to you from a burning bush so that you can turn aside and see.

You must not be dissatisfied if you feel that you have been on the backside of the desert for 39 years and if you've lived in barrenness. Moses saw that burning bush in Horeb which means "barrenness." He found himself in a place of barrenness.

The Church needs to wake up and they need to say, "You know, my big buildings and programs and all of the things haven't worked. We've not given birth to the Christ-nature in the earth. We're in barrenness."

If you will come to that point, then you are on your way, and you are capable of being turned aside when you find a burning bush somewhere.

We've seen ministries and different people on fire. But every one of them were consumed with it. Where are they now? We need to see some folks on fire who are not consumed with that fire. We've seen people shouting and dancing and all other kinds of things. They came to church and cried their eyes out, and then they're gone.

We've seen people get a little truth and take off promoting themselves, and then burn out.

It's only by the grace of God that we know anything. Somebody that is not consumed by the very fire that God lit, is the kind of person we need.

Moses speaks of a kind of people that we will soon see and say, "Wow, that person is on fire, but he is not consumed! I don't see anything but Jesus in them!"

That is the kind of person who will stop and see, and stop and hear.

Just do what Moses did until it happens. Just care for the sheep, until the fire comes.

It's time that we rule and reign in our homes and in our lives and start where we already are living. Men, for the most part, aren't the spiritual leaders in their home. They don't even rule and reign in our own living rooms!

Most women today don't do what God commanded them to do in their homes. Children don't obey. Churches don't respect the five fold ministry. We do not even do what God called us to do in this life, and we think were going to rule in some future planet-situation with Christ? We need to take control of things in our lives.

If we are people who are going to bring deliverance to people, we have got to know that we have been involved in that redemptive process of Christ Jesus. We have been redeemed and we are to rule and reign with Him now. We must take our places and walk them out.

Man was created to be in the image of God, but he fell and at the end, which is soon upon us, God will pick man up in the spirit and become what God wanted them to be at the beginning.

So we have the plagues, and so forth, that we have been going through. I want to look at the tenth plague today in Exodus 11.

These other nine plagues are a prophetic picture of the consummation of the plans of God for the negative side of redemption. Sin is producing some negative things in the earth. The world is not going to get better, it is getting worse. And if you are caught up in it, you better recover yourself. God said that when He reaches out to draw His people out, some will choose to remain and not go too far.

The Church is not going to get worse. It may appear like it will, but the Good News of the Word is that its going mature in a hurry. Suddenly the Lord is going to come to His temple.

These plagues were actually signs to all of us through the ages that we might know how the world is going to turn out.

What was the first one? Turning water to blood turning their life source to death. That's how the world has been developing from the very beginning. From the fall of Adam, life has not been produced. Instead, death has been produced. Jesus brought life in His first miracle of turning water into wine. That entire series of of plagues speaks of that.

We get to the tenth plague and it's the death of the Firstborn! Why would God bring death to the first born in all of the land of Egypt?

Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
Pharaoh and Egypt kidnapped God's firstborn. The children of God were in Egypt and God told Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say, 'Let my son go.'" Pharaoh refused to comply.

From that time on we have a kidnapping situation. And God said, "If he will not let my son go, then it will cost him his son."

How does that pertain to us? God didn't say, "Israel was my sons." He said, "My son." The nation of Israel was a many- membered son. He said, "That's my son, right there. You have my son trapped."

You and I are members of the Church. Hebrews 12 teaches we are of the Church of the Firstborn. We are also members of a many-membered son. Jesus is the head and he will always have the preeminence, but He also has a body.

1 Corinthians Chapter 12 relates to us as the body has many members, and yet it's one body, so also is Christ. The moment you make Jesus Christ Lord, by the Spirit you are fused into the body of Christ and you become one with Him. 1 Cor. 6:17 says, "He that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit."

We're living in an age where God is saying, "Let my first born go!" Pharaoh has no choice. For two thousand years there was a freedom that was available that the Church hasn't walked in. But God says it's time for that to happen!

And so, after Pharaoh said no, he hardened his heart.

God said, "Okay, you tell Pharaoh that at this same time tomorrow, there will be death that runs all the way through the land."

Exodus 12 speaks of the Passover. I'm going to go through these few verses and teach you how they speak of Jesus and how they point to us today. Read to this carefully because you need to grasp this truth.

If the children of Israel picture the Church as it is today, and Pharaoh pictures the god of this world as he is today, and if it is true that the world has us in it's grasp today, then whatever God used to get the nation of Israel out of Egypt would be a picture of what God uses to free us today.

Do all of you understand that we are still in the bondage of the world in some way or another? Anything that we are involved in that is not Christ-like, is a result of the influence of the World. Thoughts, actions, involvement in something anything that keeps us from worshiping the Father anything that keeps us away from the house of God, His people is the influence of the world.

There is a jubilee year awaiting us and the trumpet (clear voice) is sounding. We are about to be freed in a way that most of the Church has never imagined. Why? It is because they have grown accustomed to the bondage and cannot notice it now, as the Israelites became accustomed to bondage life in Egypt.

But somebody has got to rise up and say, "This isn't what we were born to be!"

I heard that in my spirit eleven months ago as of this writing. Our cities need more of an expression of Christ than what they are presently seeing.

What we usually do is push ourselves into the gifts of the Spirit and think that will help, and it does help somewhat. However, that is just an "in-part" realm to lead us to the fullness!

I believe in all the gifts of the Spirit. I believe in the real not man-made manifestations. We need manifestations that will change people not merely hype them up, but change them!

Isaiah said the sinners in Zion are afraid. When the Church grows up, the gifts will flow like you never have seen them flow before. Truth will be spoken. When you say, "Thus saith the Lord," it will be "thus saith the Lord!"

If God uses me to say something to you, then you check your heart to see if indeed it is a confirmation of what God has already said to you. If it is, then that is exactly what you need to follow. Don't think that you can't hear from God. Too many people run to perceived "spiritual people of God". You are the people of God and He has lots of ways to talk to you.

He spoke to a man of God through a donkey one day. He spoke through the means of a hand writing on a wall one day. He said, "You are weighed in the balance and found wanting." And people think God can't speak to them! Yes He can. Simply listen for His voice.

You must be willing to listen to what He says. Don't be caught up in the false. Obtain a discerning spirit. Don't be judgmental, but simply discern if something is genuine or not. When the real comes you will never have a question as to its authenticity.

I heard God's voice when He released me to start this ministry. It was confirmed by others, but not until I heard from the Father first. He spoke to my heart saying, "You are released!" And I heard it, without a doubt.

I hunger for the genuine. People need the genuine, and too many are reaching out and producing something that is not real. They are trying to work up revival here and a revival there. The key to knowing what is actual, is to determine whether or not it is changing people, are if people getting saved or not. Are people experiencing deliverance through it? Is the Father being glorified in it?

Your community needs Jesus to live through us.

The way out from Egypt the way to be delivered out of the world system is found in Exodus chapter 12.

Its the Lamb slain. You say, "But that's how you get saved!" Yes, but you mature in your Christianity by going back to the Cross and studying it, and finding out what happened there that you didn't see before.

Exodus 12:1 AND the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
While they were in bondage to the world, God said something. God gave a revelation. Do you know what it was?

"I want you to kill a lamb."

Can you believe that is all He wanted them to do? Not to obtain a big bomb or gun and use it to destroy the enemy but simply to kill a lamb.

The wisdom of the Father is foolishness to the world. And it is also foolish with some Christians because they don't understand God's ways.

They cry, "Oh, God, when are you going to do something about my problem?"

Whatever problem you or I are presently involved in, Father has already done something about it at the Cross. The answer is the Cross. Tt was your answer to deliverance at the beginning and it will be your answer to deliverance all the way through your Christian walk. It is the Cross.

Isaiah 30: 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem:
Hebrews 12 says we've come unto Mt. Zion. Zion is a spiritual place where the presence of God dwells.
...thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
He is waiting for us to cry out to Him. We have been in bondage and the problems that we have are not normal problems. We must realize that this is not what God intended to be the norm.

You say, "Well, everybody goes through this or that. Everybody has problems with their children."

No! This is not normal. Go back and see what God wanted a people to be and then begin to cry. We need a "Hannah" people in the earth who will cry out, "I need to give birth to a Son!"

Jesus needs to walk the shores of our cities. He needs to be birthed through us and we need to intercede to that end.

Verse 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Here is a people that are on their way to the Promised Land and they're crying and saying, "Lord I need deliverance, I need to be set free."

He says, "There will be teachers who shall rise up and they will give you a voice. And this voice will be behind you."

It will be behind you. Here is the picture: there is something crying a voice from the past that is speaking saying, "Turn around and look."

The voice is being spoken from the Cross the voice of deliverance. The message of freedom comes not from what Father is going to do, but what He has already done.

Most Christians are saying to Father, "When are you going to set us free?"

Father is saying, "There is a cry from behind you something from the past is screaming at you saying, 'Turn around and look again. You didn't see everything the first time.'"

I'm called to be a teacher to bring you to hear a voice calling from behind you, from your past. You started at Calvary. Now go back there. Go back to the Cross to get your answers. Quit looking for instant fixes. Look for the eternal deliverance of your old man at Calvary.

That's the answer, no matter what level of spiritual development you're at. You say you have problems. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was the answer to your problem.

What Father did through Jesus was repair what was wrong with you. Jesus went through all of that suffering because it is what you deserved.

2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
When Jesus becomes your Passover it's a brand new beginning. It's the beginning of a new creature.

But if it's the beginning of something, it's also the end of something else. The beginning of a new creature is the end of who you were.

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Every house needs a lamb. Who is the lamb? John 1 says, that John saw Jesus and then cried, "Behold the Lamb of God".

It's the man's responsibility to get enough lamb into his house.

Verse 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Notice there is enough lamb to fill you up no matter what kind of appetite you have. Some can take a lot and some a little.
Verse 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Without blemish points to Jesus. Taking a kid from the goats speaks of the fact that Jesus was one of us, a man. He was fully God and fully man.
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Who killed Jesus? The whole congregation slew him. We did. Our old man or our old nature killed him, and for that part of our lives he died.

Notice the ram was taken on the tenth day, it was killed on the fourteenth day.

Peter said a day with the Lord is a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. From the fall of Adam to where Jesus was physically and historically crucified, it was 4,000 years, or four days. From the tenth day to the fourteenth it was four days.

It's a prophetic projection of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

Verse 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
They took that blood and using a watery reed, they struck it over the side post. And when they did, water and blood came forth. The Bible says when Jesus died they stuck a spear into His side and water and blood came out. It's the same story in Exodus 12.

The door post and side post produce a double cross with the blood and the water. Why is it a double cross? As you looked the first time at Calvary you saw Jesus dying for you. But you, also, died there! The Bible says your old man, who you used to be, died there, too!

Verse 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night,
This is what you had to do with that dead Ram roasted with fire. It represents judgment. You have to see Jesus as judged.

If you are going to escape with Jesus and with the Church that is leaving, then you have to see Jesus judged, or roasted with fire.

All hell was poured out upon Jesus. He was roasted with fire!

Verse 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water,
What does that mean? Don't wash it down! It's been watered down by many people. Don't make it pretty. Simply eat it the way it is.

Look in your Bible and see Jesus travail in soul. He said, "My God, if there be any way, take this cup from me!" Don't water that down.

Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." You must see Jesus identified with the fallen nature of all of us. Don't water it down.

Then He says something else.

But roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the pertinence thereof.
That night, before deliverance came, they fed on the head, and the insides the whole thing. Why? That lamb pictured Jesus, and there is nothing about Jesus that you don't need to consume! You need to get all of His work inside you. Eat his head and the inwards all of it.

People hesitate to receive the food from you and say, "Oh, what is that? What are you trying to feed me?"

Just eat it. It's lamb just eat it. We will go back through this later and see what these things they ate represent.

Did you know the Bible says we have the mind of Christ? Why? Jesus took our old way of thinking on the Cross with Him. He took our lack of understanding with Him so we could have His mind. We have to eat his head. Get that part of the redemptive work of Christ in you.

If you want that part, you have to find out what He did for you with that part of the redemptive work of Christ in you. That part of the work deals with the mind.

Here's the last verse.

Verse 10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain....
People have been feed a bunch of rules and traditions, but not enough of the Lamb, itself. Notice it says, "And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire."

Eat it all, be hungry for it. They were eating it at night because the morning was the time to leave.

There is a morning coming! We are at the dawning of a brand new day.

This is going to be tough, but listen to me. What you don't eat before that new day starts, you will never partake of. What you don't eat, will be burnt with fire. People think they can just hang around and slothfully come into the things of God. That is a dangerous attitude, because of the dawning of a new day. Everything that is not eaten is going to be burned with fire.

It gets really good for many people until they get to the issue of commitment. You had to eat it all.

In the morning, there were people on their way to the Promised Land. And what was not eaten was burned up.

When the spies brought back those grapes and those products of the Promised Land, after spying out the land, a bunch of them said they were not going to enter. "There's giants in the land." That is similar to the thoughts of many people today, saying, "We can't grow up and be like Jesus. We can't enter into the Promised Land." They say this until something happens that they are desiring to happen.

Did you know they changed their mind? In Numbers 13 they tasted of the Land. In Numbers 14 they got up and said, "Okay, we've changed our minds. We're going to go on in." So they went up into the Mountain, and Moses said, "You are too late. Your carcasses will fall in the wilderness."

You say, "I'm going to go in on the shirt-tails of somebody else." No you won't! You're going to have to live on the life of the Lamb that you've personally eaten. You're going to grow up according to that, alone.

I'm concerned about what you are eating and what my family is eating. We must eat all the Lamb of God. We must hunger for the Lamb. We must be willing to eat all we can get. We don't have time to eat a little bit when we get hungry.

We must fill up because a journey is coming and you need all the sustenance you can get. Your mind needs to be truly renewed to the mind of Christ.

Where were they going? They were leaving Egypt the world system to the Promised Land, which speaks of Jesus. Let's get in and get serious about this.

Prayer: Father I thank you for your Word and the simplicity of the Gospel. I thank you that there is an answer for our problems and that answer is behind us. The answer has already been provided, and we must turn around and look. We all have problems that are not Christ-like, but help us to understand that the answer to our problems is to eat more Lamb to just consume more of the Passover, and eat while it is night, for the day is dawning upon us. Father, help us to get our minds off this world system.

I want to ask you today, if God is speaking to you about your spiritual life, just get going right now. Get involved with the Lamb of God. It doesn't matter if the Church hasn't looked right to you yet, or of the Church has failed you or hurt you. Father didn't do that. Come to Father today and let what He did produce life in you today.

Father, I pray for all these people to understand that the way out of Egypt is to first let nothing remain of the Lamb. Help us to consume all of Him. The crucifixion, death, burial, quickened, raised and seated with Him. In Jesus name, Amen.
