Exodus- "The Way Out"

Pastor Roy E. Richmond

PART ELEVEN

I'm going to go through the 10 plagues again, quite quickly now.

In the New Testament, Jesus' miracles in John were the positive purposes of God expressed over a long period of time and brought it to pass in an instant.

For instance lets take the water turned to wine. In all of the miracles, Jesus showed God's positive purpose for his people in type and picture form in a moment of time. When Jesus was at Cana he said, "Fill up six water pots full of water." Six is the number of man. Six vessels full of water. Water is a type of what? The Word? Jesus said that he would clean us up with his Word.

In effect, He told the men to fill the vessels full of the Word. And then he turned that Word into wine, or into the joy or the fullness of the Spirit.

Jesus showed the purposes of God for the last Adam and what he would do with man in that miracle.

You go through the Gospel of John and you see that. You see him taking the five loaves, which picture the five-fold ministry. Those people who ate the bread became the bread. Jesus breaks those loaves and gives them to the five thousand.

Isn't amazing that they were all in one hundred groups of fifty. Moses tabernacle was 50x100. That grouping of people pictured the people of God God's temple which is a temple. And out of that, He broke that bread and fed the 5,000 and had twelve baskets left over.

That's a picture of God's purposes for the Church. To take a people make them the bread of God feed them to the whole church, and in turn, have more left over than you did when you started.

The miracles that Jesus did showed the positive fulfillment. After he was raised from the dead, he did one miracle and received the great ingathering of fishes. This shows the great ingathering at the end of this age, when we have been fishing and previously caught nothing.

Jesus is going to say, "Throw your nets this way," and instantly we will have a boat-sinking, net-breaking load of people. A great ingathering.

Then there is the New Testament pictures of the plagues.

The plagues were the negative pictures of what's happening through the earth. Egypt was ruled by false gods. Circumstances were getting worse. Every since the fall of Adam, the world has gotten worse, also. Man thinks he's getting smarter. People are so "smart" that they don't believe there is a God. That's getting more dumb!

The plagues were God's use of Moses to speak to Pharaoh and to tell him to put his gods down. However, it also speaks to us throughout the ages, informing us that this is what is going to happen, and what will be the end results.

He condensed that which would take six thousand years to develop, and put it in a moment of history in order to show us the end result of what Adam has caused in this world.

The first thing he did was to turn water into blood. In the New Testament Jesus turned water into the wine as His first miracle. In the Old Testament it's death and in the New Testament it's life.

The first three plagues came on the people of God as well as the Egyptians. What does that tell us? That tells us that the first three plagues the turning of water to blood, the frogs and the lice were means by which God chose to shake the church as well as Egypt. You have to understand that those people needed deliverance just as we do. They had to be directed towards God once again. They thought that everything was fine with themselves. Some might ask, "Is it God who is doing this to us?" No, it's happening to us due to the fall of Adam.

It's like this: If it was raining outside and one of the brothers gave you an umbrella and told you to use it to keep dry, when you walked out without that umbrella, you can't come back and accuse that brother of making you get wet. That brother gave you a protection from the rain.

In like manner, the curse came like the rain when Adam fell. It was everywhere. Adam's fall touched everything. What God has done through the covenants, and now in the New Testament, is provided us with an umbrella of protection. But if you don't live under that umbrella of protection you are going to get wet! You can't blame God or the church for that.

Exodus 7-11

Water turning to blood is a type of death. This affected Israel as well as the Egyptians. The lesson is that we are being affected by the law of sin and death in this world. Things are deteriorating in this world that we believe in.

Secondly we find frogs. Look at Revelation 16: 13

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Unclean spirits are represented by frogs. Not only is there death out there, but there are unclean spirits, too. Do you understand that you are in some way being affected by unclean spirits now? Everything that you listen to, everything that you turn on, and in most every thing you see, is the influence of unclean spirits. You can't even go through your neighborhood with out seeing unclean spirits.

We're being affected by these things as much as the world is, and sometimes we don't even know it. When we grow up, we will recognize it. Soon the children of Israel noticed that the plagues were in their houses.

The next plagues involved lice, bugs.

Exodus 8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast;
Notice that the frogs pictured unclean spirits in the world. Lice pictures unclean spirits in man.

God is trying to show us that one of the first things he is doing is revealing to us the death within us the uncleanness on us and the uncleanness in us, the church. Clean us up! That's not a real popular point today. But it's still the truth. The church-world is so afraid about an anti-Christ in the world, but God is trying to show us what is anti-Christ in us!

What is anti-Christ? It is what is not Jesus! God, show me that which is not Jesus in me!

The fourth plague was flies. One of Satan's name is Beelzebub, the lord of flies. It pictures demon spirits in the world. We are free of those.

Plague five was the pestilence on the cattle. A curse on the animal life was caused by Adam.

The sixth plague of boils and soars pictures sickness and disease that was produced by Adam, which is upon mankind.

The seventh plague was thunder and hail, and that pictures the curse on the elements that was caused by Adam's sin.

The eighth plague was locusts that ate all the vegetation. This pictures the curse upon all the plant life brought on the world that by Adam. The world is not getting better it's getting worse. The ninth plague was darkness. It was so dark that it could be felt. But in the house of God, there was light.

The world is heading towards total darkness. You look in the book of Revelation chapter 21 and it says in that city there was no night there at all. It was total light. The world is heading into total darkness and we're coming to total light.

Then the death of the firstborn occurred in Egypt. Adam was the firstborn and his end-result was death. Jesus is the one who will live.

Daniel 2:31 provides us with the vision of Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel explained his dream, saying, "Thou, oh king, saw and beheld a great image."

That image is Adam. Remember that this image had a head and legs and arms. That was the first man Adam, and all the government of mankind. All of man-made empires are nothing but the expression of fallen Adam. It's just one man.

There are only two men in this earth today. One is Adam and the others is Christ. You're either in one or in the other.

Verse 32 This images head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, 33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. 34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

Notice where the stone hit the image and destroyed it. It destroyed it at the feet. Here's the principle. How many of you remember that Paul told the church that Satan will be put under their feet shortly? That stone is Christ and He crushes Adam at his feet.

35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Mountains in the Old Testament are pictures of Kingdoms. The Rock became a great kingdom and filled the whole earth. The stone that smote the image on the foot became a kingdom that spread throughout the whole earth.

Does that sound familiar?

Here's the key: This word "mountain" is the Hebrew word 'zohr', meaning "to glean or to enlighten." It's translated, "shine, teach, admonish or give warning" in the scripture in other places.

This stone became a great teaching! It became the Gospel the message the stone that smote the image became a message.

The downfall or defeat of Satan at Calvary's cross becomes a message that spreads and spreads and brings victory! Every single believer who hears that teaching puts Satan underfoot, themselves, and it spreads and spreads until it fills the whole earth.

That's the reason that some people won't set down and be taught some things. Most Christians just want a quick fix. The have problems and they just want to pop in church and have you lay your hands on them, and fix it, and get it over with so that they can go on to other things. They need to be taught. If we will just sit down and receive teaching, we will grow up.

Attending a true church is like going to school. And we do need schooling. We need to understand this Bible. We need to know what God is saying through it presently. We can be like Martha and do all the working. Or we can set down at the Master's feet and learn some things.

There is one thing that is needful. You need to hear the message of that stone that smites the image's feet. That stone will get you. If you will fall on the stone you can be part of that great Moses company. You can fall on it or it will fall on you.

Don't say that you don't have the talent. All they had was two old men and a stick. Eighty three years old and eighty. Brothers and sisters, we have the message of Jesus, his death burial and resurrection. That's all that we need. Give that message out. Share it with all everyone you come into contact with.

I believe God is raising up a Moses company a people who have been brought-out the sold-out, brought-out ones who are hearing from the Lord and are being equipped with that rod with the message of the death and burial and resurrection. We can take it to the hurting Christians who have been making bricks and working. There is something better than such bondage. You didn't join this. You didn't volunteer. You were made for this. You were created for this and you were placed in this by the hand of God.
