The Double Portion Revelation

Exodus 16:4-5 Then said the LORD
unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people
shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them,
whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that
on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall
be twice as much as they gather daily.
Exodus 16:14-27 And when the dew that lay
was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small
round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children
of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist
not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the
LORD hath given you to eat. This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded,
Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man,
according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which
are in his tents. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some
more, some less. And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered
much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered
every man according to his eating. And Moses said, Let no man leave of
it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but
some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank:
and Moses was wroth with them. And they gathered it every morning, every
man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. And
it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread,
two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and
told Moses. And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said,
To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which
ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth
over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. And they laid it up till
the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any
worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath
unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall
gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall
be none. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on
the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
During Israel's travels to Canaan, manna was provided six days a week.
-
A single person's portion was weighed out to be an OMER (16:16).
-
But during the sixth day, two omers were provided for every person.
-
And this was so that during the next day of the Sabbath, when no work was
to be accomplished, they would have picked up enough manna the previous
day to feed them during the sabbath.
Normally, the manna that was not eaten during the day that it was gathered,
bred worms and rotted the next day.
-
But the extra manna that was picked up on the sixth day, and carried over
until the sabbath morning, did not decay nor breed worms.
So on the sixth day a double portion was provided for Israel in order for
them to enter into Sabbath --- or enter into the Rest.
There were some who seemingly did not gather enough manna on the sixth
day, but only gathered their usual single portion.
-
These folks went forth on the sabbath day to gather, which was contrary
to law of the Sabbath, for it was work.
-
And they found no manna.
At this point let us turn our Bibles to ...
Matthew 25:1-12 Then shall the
kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps,
and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and
five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took
no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight
there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet
him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish
said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But
the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and
you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while
they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in
with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the
other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said,
Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
The wise virgins had a double portion of oil.
-
Verse 4 says that the wise virgins took oil in vessels with their lamps.
-
They had oil in their lamps and an extra vessel of oil.
-
A double portion.
-
The fools' oil went out.
-
They only had oil in their lamps and not in extra vessels.
-
They only had a single portion.
-
And it was not enough to take them into the wedding.
Compare entering the Rest of the Sabbath with entering into the wedding.
Folks, its going to take a double portion revelation to enter our Rest,
as Hebrews 4 relates...
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear,
lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it.
Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do
enter into rest, ...
What is manna?
-
Jesus explained in John 6 that manna represented the true bread from heaven,
which was He that came down from heaven (vv.32-33).
-
Jesus Christ (v. 35)..
-
And more specifically, the manna was the flesh and the blood of Jesus Christ.
John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man,
and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
Recall that Israel murmured and God gave them manna.
Exodus 16:2 And the whole congregation
of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
These people in John 6, hearing Jesus, also murmured.
John 6:41 The Jews then murmured
at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
The reference to the body and blood refers to the work of the cross.
-
The night before the crucifixion, Jesus took bread and wine and told them
it represented His flesh and blood which would be given for them.
-
The giving was the dying on the cross.
Manna represents the flesh and blood of Jesus.
-
What does it mean to eat it?
-
Eating manna would give them life.
-
So what do we do that we might eat manna and have life.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him
that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him,
may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Jesus said that believing on Him would give them life.
-
So, the truths of what God accomplished in the Son through the cross, are
what we must believe upon.
-
And if we believe on them, we will have life.
-
Eating the manna is feasting on the truths of what God did on the cross,
and believing them.
-
You're not feasting if you're hearing and not believing.
-
Israel took a single man's portion of manna, one omer, and ate that for
five days.
-
On the sixth day, so that they might enter the rest, God gave them a double
portion of manna.
In other words, God is telling us that there is a single man's portion
of truth regarding the Cross that we must hear and apply to our lives.
-
Feast on this truth of the one man portion.
-
But on the sixth day, the provision for entering into the Rest, or entering
into the wedding experience, is a double-man's portion of truth regarding
the cross.
What is a single man's portion?
Every person who serves Christ knows the single man's portion.
-
One man, named Jesus, died on the cross.
-
And that single-man's portion of truth accomplishes salvation.
-
It provides eternal life.
-
It provides justification and sanctification.
-
It makes you right in the eyes of God and cleanses you from all sin.
-
It provides healing.
-
It provides answered prayers.
-
But it won't get you into the Rest or the wedding experience.
Let me explain.
The thing that will take us into the rest is knowing more than one man
died on the cross.
-
The double-man's portion involves two people.
-
Christ and you.
-
When you come into the revelation that is described in 2 Cor 5:14, and
it impacts you like nothing else can impact you, then you have received
the double portion revelation.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ
constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then
were all dead:
When Jesus died, it was "for all" that He died.
-
Therefore, it was not only one man who died that day on the cross.
-
One man did die that die, but not one man only.
-
If you are a Christian and serving Christ, then you died with Christ that
day He died.
-
As far as you are concerned, two people died.
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old
man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that
henceforth we should not serve sin.
The single portion of manna and the double portion of manna, was both of
manna.
-
But one was one omer and the other was two omers.
-
One was for one person, but the other was for two.
-
Some only know Christ's death.
-
Others have learned that, but they have gone further and realized their
deaths with Christ.
Notice that the story of the wise virgins having a double portion, allowing
them to enter the wedding experience, notes these words:
Matthew 25:11-12 Afterward came
also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered
and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
I never knew you.
-
The term KNOW in this verse speaks of intimacy between a husband and wife.
-
It speaks of a dual relationship.
-
Its not a one persons' portion, but a dual portion.
The OIL in their vessels was seen in Zechariah 4 flowing into lamps from
olive trees.
-
Revelation 11:3-4 says these two olive trees prophesy.
-
So OIL is PROPHESYING or inspired PREACHING.
-
You need to receive this inspired preaching I am giving you today concerning
your UNION to Jesus' death and ascension.
-
You get double portion revelation from this kind of preaching.
You can know healing and miracles and wonders, but until you come into
a dual portion revelation that you and Christ are ONE, united in His death
on the cross, the Lord does not intimately know you.
Mattew 7:21-23 Not every one that
saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but
he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to
me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in
thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.
Genesis 4:1 "Adam KNEW Eve his wife and she conceived."
This requires a dual relationship.
-
A single portion revelation will not have you intimate relationship with
Jesus.
-
You only enter Rest when you enter the wedding experience.
-
The 5 wise virgins had the double portion and entered the wedding.
-
They came into the experience where two people enter into union.
-
Two become one flesh.
1 Corinthians 6:16-17 What? know ye
not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he,
shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
The double portion revelation of seeing you and Christ in union, having
joined yourself to Him in His death on the cross, buried with Him by baptism
into His death, and risen with Him, places you in a position of such glory
and power.
Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, who is
rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were
dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are
saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Seated with Him where?
Ephesians 1:20-21 Which he wrought
in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right
hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and
might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world,
but also in that which is to come:
Seeing this is double portion revelation!
Notice that Paul said we need our eyes of understanding opened to be
able to SEE THIS.
Ephesians 1:17-18 That the God
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit
of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding
being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and
what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Look at this story.
2 Kings 2:9-12a And it came to
pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what
I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said,
I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said,
Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am
taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be
so. And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold,
there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them
both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha
saw it,
Elisha's key to having a double portion was to SEE ELIJAH's ASCENSION.
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say
unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Because He would ASCEND, the apostles would do greater works.
-
What has ascension got to do with them doing greater works?
-
We already read in Ephesians that we ascended with Him and are seated with
Him above all powers.
-
That is what His ascension has to do with US having greater power.
-
Greater power is a double portion.
-
And Elisha had to SEE that.
-
Paul see we have to see, also, with different eyes.
-
We see with EYES OF UNDERSTANDING.
-
That means we UNDERSTAND, through the SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION.
-
Its a double portion revelation we need!
When we see ourselves ascended with Jesus, and where we are in Him, we
will have greater faith than we ever had before.
-
What enemy can scare you when you SEE that you are with Christ above all
powers and principalities?
Jesus said that the things He did would we do, because He ascends.
-
Its all linked to His ascension.
-
And He ascended into Heaven after He resurrected from the dead.
-
We will do the things Jesus did.
2 Kings 2:14 And he took the mantle
of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is
the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted
hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
Elisha wanted to see God \do the same thing He did with Elijah.
-
"Where is the Lord God of Elijah?" means "Let me do the same thing Elijah
did!"
-
And Elijah did the same thing of dividing the waters.
Doesn't this remind you of leaving Egypt?
-
Moses parted the Red Sea when they left Egypt.
-
But this occurred again much later, when Moses' successor, Joshua, took
the mantle of Moses, so to speak, and likewise divided the waters at the
Jordan River.
These waters were former barriers to Israel.
-
When you can get beyond a barrier that always hindered you in the past,
you enter into a new realm with God.
-
A higher plain of experience with God in your Christianity.
-
Too many stay on one plain all their lives.
Some did not SEE what Elisha saw.
2 Kings 2:15-16 And when the sons
of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The
spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed
themselves to the ground before him. And they said unto him, Behold now,
there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee,
and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken
him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said,
Ye shall not send.
Why did they want Elisha to "okay" a search for Elijah so urgently?
-
Its as though they saw Elijah's anointing on Elisha, when Elisha divided
the waters, and wanted this same power.
-
So they sought Elisha to let them send 50 men to look for Elijah.
-
They thought he would be on a mountain somwhere or in a valley.
-
Elisha knew he was not.
-
But these people continued to urge him.
2 Kings 2:17-18 And when they urged
him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men;
and they sought three days, but found him not. And when they came again
to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto
you, Go not?
Some people are trying to get into a place of power with God through all
the wrong means.
-
They have never seen the ascension.
-
They do not realize that the key to victory in God is written right there
in black and white.
-
But the Bible is something that is more than just black ink on white paper.
-
It contains truths that you must mix with your faith if you want to enter
into a rest through them.
-
Not just read these words and agree with them.
-
BELIEVE THEM.
-
Apply them to yourself.
-
One person told me that there was agreement with those words, but there
was no application of these truths to this person.
-
This person could believe this for others but not for self.
These 50 people sought Elijah in the mountains and valleys.
-
Some people think they will find the key to their power through some kind
of emotional high, on a mountain, so to speak.
-
They feel that they will shout out loud for once and for all, or jump and
dance, and from that point on have victory.
-
That is not the key.
-
The key is to be found in SEEING HIS ASCENSION CONNECTED TO YOU.
-
Its seeing the DOUBLE PORTION revelation.
50th is the literal meaning of the term "PENTECOST."
-
50 men went to look for Eljiah in all the wrong places.
-
Pentecostals, do not get too proud and think that you know where the power
can be found.
-
Sometimes Pentecostals get too wrapped up in emotionalism, althouh emotionalism
is good.
-
God created our emotions to enjoy Him.
-
But the answer is not an emotional high.
Others think that a valley will give them the key.
-
They think that such suffering of an extremely long time of fasting, or
flagellating themselves with whips, and denying themselves many pleasures
in a valley of denial that will reward them a power with God
they are looking for.
-
Wrong.
-
Its not in the valley either.
Elijah ascended into the heavens and stayed there!
Jesus is seated in heavenly places and you are there with Him if you
are saved.
-
You will only enter this new rest and domain when you SEE HIS ASCENSION.
-
Get a revelation of what the Bible says.
Not just agree with it, but go further with the truths it gives about Christ's
ascension, where you see yourself with Him.
A double portion revelation.
And after three days of searching they did not find Elijah.
Three days always speaks of the experience of Jesus' death.
-
Three days and three nights passed and Jesus resurrected.
-
We can know the truths of the single portion experience of Christ's death.
-
Jesus died and for three days was in the grave.
-
Yet until we come to the double portion revelation and connect ourselves
with His death, burial and resurrection, and ascension and seating, then
we will simply miss a very important part of it all.
Somebody said they need ot pray pray and pray for power.
-
Folks, prayer is to be accomplished in conjunction with feeding yourself
on the manna.
-
Because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word.
-
The WORD, MANNA, will give you strength.... in the form of faith.
-
And therefore when you pray, you will have the faith to pray and believe
for your prayers to be answered.
-
You will know HOW to pray and WHAT to pray for.
For example, praying for power is not the way.
-
The key is to get this double portion revelation.
-
See a truth.
-
And that comes from the Word.
-
Get that double portion of manna into your spirits.
-
Get that DUAL-PERSON understanding.
-
The co-crucifixion with Christ, and the co-burial and co-resurrection and
co-ascension!
-
The co-seating!
We are entering a NEW YEAR.
-
In fact, its a new millennium.
-
2001.
-
And God wants to do greater things in our lives than what we have believed
for Him to be able to do.
-
We must cross barriers that we could never cross before.
-
We must enter new territories we have never experienced before.
-
Don't be satisfied with not seeing the works of Jesus in your life.
-
Don't be satisfied with only having so much experience.
-
Make your mind up this year that things are going to be different.
-
Start out again if you slipped into dormancy for the past few years.
