8 Days After His Birth - Both Times
PART 2 - December 18, 2016
Mary’s firstborn Son became…
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who
is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he
might have the preeminence.
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful
witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the
kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins
in his own blood,
Begotten of God and born of Mary, he was firstbegotten by God from the dead!
Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
This was when God set His King upon ZION in Psalm 2.
Acts 13 interprets that for us.
Act 13:32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise
which was made unto the fathers, 33 God hath fulfilled the same unto
us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also
written in the second psalm, Thou art my
Son, this day have I begotten thee.
His resurrection is like having been begotten!
As he was circumcised 8 days after his birth, we read this…
John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early,
when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken
away from the sepulchre.
John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the
week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for
fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto
them, Peace be unto you. 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto
them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they
saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:
as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had
said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the
Holy Ghost: 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto
them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. 24 But
Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus
came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have
seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands
the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails,
and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
Then we read:
John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and
Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in
the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas,
Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy
hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
An unveiling occurred in Thomas’ heart eight days after Jesus resurrected, as firstborn from the dead.
Deuteronomy 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine
heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all
thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Thomas did not believe Jesus arose.
• And without resurrection there is no salvation!
• He doubted salvation!
• But the veil came off his heart and HE BELIEVED!
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
How many here can say you fit the category of those who are blessed, who unlike Thomas did not have to see in order to believe!?
Luke 2:21-24 And when eight days were accomplished for the
circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so
named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
(22) And when the days of her purification according to the law
of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present
him to the Lord; (23) (As it is written in the law of the
Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the
Lord;) (24) And to offer a sacrifice according to that
which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two
young pigeons.
Leviticus 12:4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her
purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor
come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
Seven days of uncleanness passed and circumcision was accomplished, followed by 33 additional days.
• Adding up to a total of 40 days.
Ninevah had 40 days to repent or perish.
• Moses was 40 days and nights on mountain without food or drink experiencing the presence of God.
• Elijah went on the power of bread from heaven for 40 days and nights.
• Israel spied out the land 40 days and nights.
• Jesus fasted 40 days and nights.
• The rain fell 40 days and nights in Noah’s day.
As Mary experienced 33 more days of purification, and entered into the temple to:
1. Offer sacrifice and receive atonement from uncleanness.
2. Present firstborn Son Jesus to God as His property…
LUKE 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the
law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to
present him to the Lord; (23) (As it is written in the law
of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to
the Lord;) (24) And to offer a sacrifice according to that
which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two
young pigeons.
…33 more days passed after the first week of Christ’s resurrected life until…
Acts 1:1-3 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all
that Jesus began both to do and teach, (2) Until the day in
which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given
commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: (3) To
whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible
proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things
pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Jesus ascended into heaven on the 40th day!
Mary went into the temple to offer sacrifices for atonement.
Hebrews 9:6-12 Now when these things were thus ordained, the
priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the
service of God. (7) But into the second went the high
priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for
himself, and for the errors of the people: (8) The Holy
Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet
made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
(9) Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were
offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the
service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; (10)
Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal
ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
(11) But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come,
by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is
to say, not of this building; (12) Neither by the blood of
goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy
place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Jesus is compared to the high priest who went into the temple to offer atonement.
Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made
with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself,
now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Why did the high priest enter the most holy place?
Leviticus 16:2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy
brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the
vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for
I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
Leviticus 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy
place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and
because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do
for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in
the midst of their uncleanness.
Because of uncleanness, like Mary’s!
Atonement for uncleanness.
Hebrews 9:23-24 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of
things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly
things themselves with better sacrifices than these. (24)
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in
the presence of God for us:
Notice that Christ came from the womb of Mary and was born into this world.
• That which He was born from received atonement 40 days later.
• Jesus resurrected from the tomb of the ground—world – and arose into this world.
• That from which He was firstborn in the family
– Mary – was atoned for 40 days after, when Jesus was
brought into the world with Mary.
• That from which He was firstborn from the dead WAS ATONED FOR.
• He brought atonement for the world 40 days !
• And as Mary went in with Him to get atonement,
in effect everyone in THE WORLD WHO BELIEVES WENT in WITH JESUS to the
temple!
1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
When Jesus went into heaven HE was the sacrifice for the atonement, as well as the high priest who made THE sacrifice.
When Mary brought Jesus into the temple she also had to present Him to
God as God’s property ever since the Exodus when the firstborn
were redeemed by the blood.
He was God’s property.
Luke 2:25-30 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose
name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the
consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
(26) And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he
should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
(27) And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the
parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of
the law, (28) Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed
God, and said, (29) Lord, now lettest thou thy servant
depart in peace, according to thy word: (30) For mine eyes
have seen thy salvation,
God’s property!
• In this case, God’s salvation!
• Jesus means GOD IS MY SALVATION!
When she brought Mary into the temple, JESUS WAS SALVATION!
Jesus also brought salvation when he went into the temple of heaven!
Anna the 84 year old prophetess was daughter of Penuel, whose name means FACE OF GOD!
Anna means FAVOURED.
Look at what Mary prophesied when she heard she’d birth Jesus,
and compare that with Him dying so He could get into the tomb and be
raised, like conceived in Mary so he could be born.
Luke 1:46-55 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
(47) And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
(48) For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for,
behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
(49) For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy
is his name. (50) And his mercy is on them that fear him
from generation to generation. (51) He hath shewed strength
with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their
hearts. (52) He hath put down the mighty from their seats,
and exalted them of low degree. (53) He hath filled the
hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
(54) He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his
mercy; (55) As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to
his seed for ever.
His strength and not ours is what saves us!
