2 Chronicles 4:2-5  Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast. It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.

There was a HUGE SEA that held 3,000 BATHS.

• Looked like it stood on 12 oxen facing north, south, east and west.
• LIKE  A GIANT CUP.

John saw a sea, too.

• Before the throne of God.

Revelation 4:1-3 KJV  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.  (2)  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.  (3)  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Revelation 4:6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:

A WATERY BARRIER.

A sea.

There is a connection between a SEA standing between man and the throne of God in Heaven, and OUR SINS THAT STAND BETWEEN US AND GOD.

Isaiah 59:2 KJV  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

And because of that sin, WE MUST DIE.

Ezekiel 18:4 KJV  Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.



Ezekiel saw a vision and BOTH pictures seem to come together of a THRONE and CRYSTAL SEA before the throne.

Ezekiel 1:22  And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

Ezekiel 1:22 ESV  Over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring crystal, spread out above their heads.


Ezekiel 1:26 KJV  And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

Ezekiel 1:28 KJV  As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Ezekiel and John saw practically the same thing.

Ezekiel 1:27 KJV  And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

Revelation 1:13 KJV  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Revelation 1:15 KJV  And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

They saw the same ONE SITTING ON THE THRONE.

Ezekiel saw from LOINS UP like GOLD – AMBER.

• FROM LOINS DOWN, FIRE.
• John saw the same thing.

KINGDOM VISIONS!

• SHOWING THE LORD ON THE THRONE!

The MOLTEN SE was a HUGE CUP held 3,000 UNITS OF WATER called BATHS.

Notice what is said about a SEA.

Micah 7:18-19  Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

It is like DEATH stands between us and the THRONE.

• A great floodwater of death.
• It hinders us from the throne.
• Our sins are the reason we must die.
• The rainbow connects this to Noah.
• Just like the flood of Noah that killed the sinners, a flood of water stands between us and God.
• Instead of going to the throne, our sins will cause us to die.
• It’s like we have to proceed to the throne and die to our sins to meet God and be judged.

When we think of this SEA into which God casts sins, look what we read about water and sins in the New Testament.

Acts 22:16  And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

So we see a new experience we can have with THIS SEA!

Like Noah’s ark that crossed the WATER and came to a MOUNTAIN TOP where a rainbow was given.

• Looking at a mountain top that is sticking out of the water is like looking at an ISLAND.
• And here in Revelation, John sees THE THRONE LIKE AN ISLAND with water all around it and a rainbow.

A sea stands around this throne, and we read God takes our sins and CASTS THEM INTO THE SEA.

The flood of death does not have to slay us.

We can get baptized into HIS DEATH and see those sins that separated us from God washed away!

Put that idea together with JESUS DYING AND RESURRECTING AGAIN after no one was able to reach the throne, and HE REACHES THAT THRONE and makes a KINGDOM CONNECTION FOR US.

• He REDEEMED US AND MADE US KINGS AND PRIESTS when he went to that throne.
• BACK TO THE KINGDOM!

Between JOHN and the THRONE, Jesus appears risen from the dead!

• Jesus is not sinking under that water, but is walking on top of it.
• It is underneath Him.
• FLOODS LIKE DEATH are beneath Him.
• His resurrection from death is associated with THAT SEA!
• Can you see how that sea is associated with HIS RESURRECTION FROM DEATH?

And the SEA IS ASSOCIATED WITH SINS CAST INTO A SEA.

So what element in the bible pulls together the picture of WATER, SINS CAST INTO WATER and JESUS; RESURRECTION FROM DEATH?

• Baptism!
• We are baptized into Jesus Christ’s death because it deals with washing away sins and RESURECTING WITH JESUS.

Romans 6:3-5 KJV  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  (4)  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  (5)  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Romans 6:6 KJV  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:7 KJV  For he that is dead is freed from sin.


We DIE with Jesus, and he that is dead is freed from sin.

• So we die with Jesus to be free from sin.

Romans 6:8 KJV  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Dying with Jesus is worth everything because dying with Jesus means we shall LIVE WITH JESUS.

• Jesus resurrected to never die again after he died.
• We therefore die with Him so that we share his resurrection and LIVE WITH HIM.

Romans 6:9-11 KJV  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  (10)  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  (11)  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.


All that Jesus experienced becomes our experience, so much so that like He died to sin, we are dead indeed to sin.

• Like He lives unto God, we are alive to God through JESUS.

Romans 6:12 KJV  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Sin will not rule us now, SINCE WE ARE KINGS AND PRIESTS AND RULE NOW.

Psalm 18:16-19  He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

We had to die, so we got baptized into Jesus’ death and GOD DELIVERED US FROM THE MANY WATERS!

Recall that after Jesus died and resurrected to leave the world, He told them to wait in Jerusalem.

Luke 24:47-49  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Luke 24:33  And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

Acts 1:16-17  Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.  For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

Acts 1:21-22  Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,  Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

Acts 1:26  And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

THEY NOW HAD TWELVE.

Recall the SEA had TWELVE OXEN UNDERNEATH IT.

• They faced North, south, east and west.

Acts 1:8 KJV  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:38-39 KJV  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  (39)  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

This message is for everyone that is afar off.

• Not just Jerusalem but ANYONE  WHOM THE LORD CALLS.

And it held 3,000 BATHS OF WATER.

Acts 2:41 KJV  Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

3,000 people got baptized just like the HUGE CUP held 3,000 BATHS.

It’s like the huge sea on the backs of twelve oxen facing all compass points speaks of the BAPTISM INTO JESUS’ DEATH that is a message taken to all the world.

• And our SINS are CAST INTO THE SEA – the sins that separated us from our God – and we JOIN HIM ONCE AGAIN AT THE THRONE!

That is why Jesus crossed the sea that stood before the throne and arrived at that throne, and connected us to it by making us KINGS AND PRIESTS.

Revelation 5:7 KJV  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Revelation 5:9-10 KJV  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;  (10)  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

A HUGE CUP!

Matthew 26:39 ESV  And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."

The cup WAS HIS DEATH.

He DRANK THE CUP!

• TOOK ALL YOUR SINS.

2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
