Exodus
12:3-7 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In
the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
(4) And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and
his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of
the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for
the lamb. (5) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of
the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the
goats: (6) And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day
of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel
shall kill it in the evening. (7) And they shall take of
the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door
post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
The lamb was taken on the tenth day and slain on the fourteenth day, with its blood put around doorways in Egypt.
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship
him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain
from the foundation of the world.
Jesus was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
- When you
count from Adam and the Genesis or foundation of the world, to
Jesus’ death, it was four thousand years just like four days
after the lamb was taken it was slain.
- And its blood was put around the DOORWAYS of their homes.
- We have to take the death of Jesus and apply to our address, to where we live, so to speak.
- Jesus is the door.
- We ENTER into His death.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
His death counts as our OWN!
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us;
because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
If somebody died for everyone, then that means everyone died.
- Last week I preached about the Week before He resurrected.
- John 12 shows the Sunday before He resurrected. Palm Sunday.
John 12:20-24
And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the
feast: (21) The same came therefore to Philip, which was of
Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see
Jesus. (22) Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again
Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. (23) And Jesus answered them,
saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be
glorified. (24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a
corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it
die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
When people wanted to see Jesus, what does Jesus say when he wants to present Himself to them?
- He says
He’s like a grain of wheat that will always be alone unless it
dies and rises again bearing many other grains!
- Plant one seed and it grows and comes up as a plant with MANY MORE SEEDS.
- So, somehow His death would cause Him to rise again and reproduce Himself to MANY OTHER CHILDREN OF GOD.
- So His death is so vitally important!
Later, in the same chapter we read,
John 12:31-33 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the
prince of this world be cast out. (32) And I, if I be
lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (33)
This he said, signifying what death he should die.
Being lifted up is talking about HOW HE WOULD DIE!
- He would draw all men to himself, because His death would count as all theirs!
- It’s like he drew everyone into Himself when He died so that his death counts as their deaths.
So we enter into His
death like they did on the passover night as they entered through doors
with Lamb’s blood around them.
His death counts as theirs.
Exodus 12:21-23 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel,
and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your
families, and kill the passover. (22) And ye shall take a
bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and
strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the
bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the
morning. (23) For the LORD will pass through to smite the
Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two
side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the
destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
This took place after NINE PLAGUES struck Egypt.
- Why nine plagues?
- Why not do this first?
Way back before any plagues started, God told Moses to say this:
Exodus 4:22-23 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the
LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: (23) And I say
unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to
let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
God warned him from the start to let go of Israel, because God saw Israel as HIS FIRSTBORN SON.
- But before God did, he performed nine plagues.
- And the tenth one was what he said He’d do at the start!
- To stress ONE MEANS ALONE will save us.
- DEATH of the lamb IN OUR PLACES.
Why did God come in flesh and die so we could die with Him by entrance INTO HIS DEATH?
- It was so we could connect to Him who came from the throne of glory.
- Once we
enter His death, his death counts as the death we all had to pay due to
sin, and we’re free from the penalty.
Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the
father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it
shall die.
We had to die because we sinned.
- And Jesus took that death and took our sin.
- He died IN OUR PLACE.
- So, we died with Him.
Romans 6:6
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of
sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Colossians 2:1 2 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are
risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath
raised him from the dead.
Ephesians 2:5-6 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (6) And hath
raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in
Christ Jesus:
He connected to us in his death and resurrected us to bring us back to the throne WITH HIM!
Because Adam was given dominion over the earth and we lost that dominion!
Leviticus 14:4-7 Then shall the priest command to take for him
that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and
scarlet, and hyssop: (5) And the priest shall command that
one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running
water: (6) As for the living bird, he shall take it, and
the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and
the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the
running water: (7) And he shall sprinkle upon him that is
to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him
clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.
And Israel they left Egypt the next morning, forty years to the DAY something happened.
Exodus 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying,
In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a
lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
The Passover lamb was obtained the tenth day of the first month.
Exo 12:26-27 KJV And it shall come to pass, when your children
shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? (27) That
ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed
over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the
Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and
worshipped.
Jos 4:1-7 KJV And it came to pass, when all the people were clean
passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
(2) Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a
man, (3) And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of
the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood
firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave
them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
(4) Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of
the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man: (5) And
Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God
into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon
his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children
of Israel: (6) That this may be a sign among you, that when
your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye
by these stones? (7) Then ye shall answer them, That the
waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the
LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off:
and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel
for ever.
Jos 4:10-5:1 KJV For the priests which bare the ark stood in the
midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded
Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded
Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over. (11) And it
came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark
of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the
people. (12) And the children of Reuben, and the children
of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the
children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them: (13) About
forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto
battle, to the plains of Jericho. (14) On that day the LORD
magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as
they feared Moses, all the days of his life. (15) And the
LORD spake unto Joshua, saying, (16) Command the priests
that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of
Jordan. (17) Joshua therefore commanded the priests,
saying, Come ye up out of Jordan. (18) And it came to pass,
when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were
come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet
were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned
unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did
before. (19) And the people came up out of Jordan on the
tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east
border of Jericho. (20) And those twelve stones, which they
took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal. (21) And he
spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask
their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
(22) Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came
over this Jordan on dry land. (23) For the LORD your God
ried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed
over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from
before us, until we were gone over: (24) That all the
people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty:
that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever. (5:1) And it
came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the
side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which
were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan
from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that
their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because
of the children of Israel.
Joshua 5:10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and
kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the
plains of Jericho.
The same day Israel took the Passover lamb, Israel became PASSOVERS and PASSED OVER JORDAN!
- And for the first time in 39 years, Israel kept PASSOVER AGAIN but they were in the promised land!
- 40 years TO THE DAY!
- And the kings of the land of Canaan into which Israel came to invade and conquer, WERE AFRAID BECAUSE OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL!
Satan is scared when we get baptized into Jesus’ death and go
through this old wilderness of trials and tribulations, and enter
KINGDOM LIFE!
It’s like God taking mankind back to the kingdom power on the
earth – not in heaven, by the way – by connecting with man
in His death so when he went back to the kingdom man would be still
connected to him!
